Gotta keep those narratives

ABC News:

Sarah Palin: ‘Is a Title and Campaign Too Shackle-y?’

A Palin presidency: Too “shackle-y?”

That’s what Sarah Palin suggested on Fox News’ “On The Record with Greta VanSusteren” tonight, saying that she’s concerned jumping into the 2012 presidential race will muffle her message.

“Is a title worth it?” she asked, rhetorically. “Does a title shackle a person? Are they someone like me who’s maverick? I do go rogue and I call it like I see it and I don’t mind stirring it up in order to get people to think and debate aggressively.”

“Is a title and a campaign too shackle-y?,” she continued. “Does that prohibit me from being out there, out of a box, not allowing handlers to shape me and to force my message to be what donors or what contributors or what pundits want it to be? Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to affect positive change that we need in this country? That’s the biggest contemplation piece in my process.”

Palin expressed a concern about “being caricatured” if she runs, and asked again “whether a title is needed to make a difference or someone can be rogue, can be maverick, can be passionate about issues and can get people to think very wisely about issues.”

Sarah did an interview with Greta Van Susteren that lasted over sixteen and a half minutes and covered several topics. What does ABC focus on?

“Shackle-y”

  1. I have a short Palin post that goes with this.:)

  2. Even if she decides not to run, she still gives a voice to the every day American citizen. She speaks out, tells truth to power. We do not have too many in America today that can do that.
She might accomplish more speaking out and reminding then running.
I would love to see her run and would vote for her in a minute, but it is her decision.

    off topic
Andy Rooney is retiring from 60 minutes. Sunday night will be his last night. Many do not like him , but I love him.
He calls BS for what it is.

unemployment needs to start in DC asap

  3. Good lord, that sounds like her laying the groundwork for not running. I seriously hope that’s not the case, because what I hear is, “I got the message boys. No girls allowed.”

Fuck that shit. Beseige the fucking walls until the let us in. And by us I mean women and/or everyday Americans.

    • Sure sounded like she was talking herself out of a run to me. I’d love to be wrong about that though.

What I wonder is, if in talking to donors their money depended on her going along with their message and not her own. If that’s the case, it might be better to run 3rd party and really shake up the race. After all there’s only so much to be done from facebook.

      • Some c4pers say it sounds like she is addressing the GOP establishment: “If I run it will be my way – no shackling me.”

        • She’s gonna do what she’s gonna do.

If she’s on my ballot next spring I’ll vote for her. Until then it doesn’t make much difference.

        • I wouldn’t worry too much one way or another.

Do you know how many people I’ve personally, as in person, in real life, heard say that if she doesn’t run, they’re going to write her in because they don’t like the slate of GOP choices out there?

Plus I do think that people tend to forget, or never knew in the first place, that she’s been fighting the establishment her entire career in politics. This is a game she knows well. They’ve simply never had anyone with this high of a profile get in their face and basically say “Um, no, maybe I just don’t wanna play the game your way.”

And it’s driving them freaking nuts.

Because, well, what if, what if, they can’t get Christie or someone like him to run eventually? What then? What are they going to be left with?!? Eyes darting left and right.

          Hyperventilation time.

It’s called staring them down and waiting them out.

        • bevwky, they are down to Jeb now – do they throw him in there or not.
          It’s a game of chicken.

  4. If you go back in history, many people who have had the greatest impact on this country never even held political office at all. Most presidents are actually not liked very much and don’t become American heroes and legends until well after their passing.

  5. Saw her on Greta last night-really wish she hadn’t said “shackle-y.”

    Hoping she runs, though!

She didn’t say she wouldn’t-maybe she’s waiting for a loud stamping of feet.

    *stamp stamp stamp!*

Wonder what she’d think of Elizabeth Warren…”wackly-e?”

  6. That’s why I haven’t watched ABC since 2008. What a bunch of condescending assholes.
