If the protesters are to stay in the park, they need something to provide heat and power; people need to be fed, the media team has a ton of equipment that needs to be charged, and winter is fast approaching. A representative of the Comfort working group told us that “We are currently in the process of writing legislation to get funding from the GA for our three stage insulation plan for the tent city” and added that Comfort never supported gas generators in the first place.
In a prescient move on Tuesday, the General Assembly approved a $4,000 budget for new bike-powered generators, according to GA minutes. We’re trying to find out if and when those will arrive.
However, Columbia j-schooler Andrew Katz just tweeted that an OWS rep told him that “As always when the police take, people give. New generators on the way.”
I figured this would happen – OWS is determined to defy the law and Mayor Bloominidiot is determined to let them, but only after generating lots of attention. I like the idea of the bike generators though. I can picture it now – the wimmins pedaling away so the boys can play video games.
Here’s the key point though:
If the protesters are to stay in the park
How much OWS time, energy and resources are devoted to “staying in the park” as opposed to actually protesting?
Imagine if the protesters met at Zuccotti park each morning after breakfast and stayed all day then went home for dinner. They would need one meal (at most) at the park and would be able to recharge batteries, bathe and sleep in a warm bed every night. They could poop at home too.
The protesters are not homeless – in fact they don’t want the real homeless there at Zuccotti Park bumming free food.
So what’s the point?

They have a really cool foot generator out now, only costs about 200 bucks. You just pump it up with your foot and it’s strong enough to run power tools. Also on the safety issue, no fumes, no carbon monoxide, no fire hazard, so it can be safely used inside a tent.
That’s good, since there are more men than women at Z Park. Each woman can work 2 pumps at a time.
Looks like both the Occupiers and Tea Party protested Mrs. Obama’s fundraiser in Ft. LaLadale last night. Progress?

Breitbart (yeah, I know, he’s the devil) is compiling a rap sheet so far on the Occumob. Headline links are live in the article at the site:

Love the Devil
I don’t always agree with Breitbart, or his way of being sensationalistic – but the man has big brass ones when it comes to challenging the establishment media on their bullshit, I’ll give him that.
I like the idea of bicycle generators. Seems like a reasonable compromise.

I guess somebody forgot to teach them about Native Americans. The Occupiers are the real colonizers.
{{bangs head on desk}}
Great. That guy can give me the keys to his place. I’ll leave the door open and we’ll see what happens.
How can they decolonize when they are occupying occupied land? Wait, what?
My head hurts.
Srsly. What the hell is “decolonize property?” sheesh
Speaking of banging heads on desks ..someone posted a sign from OWS that said ” I don’t mind you being rich , I mind you buying my government ” and commented ,even Fox viewers should get that !!!
Really, someone, please , explain to me HOW STUPID you have to be, not to know ; that you cannot buy anything that is not for sale??
Which of course begs the question, why are they protesting the buyers only and not the sellers? If it isn’t wall street buying influence, it will be oil, auto, china, etc., etc. Oh wait, that would mean protesting Obama… ah, yea. Never mind.
BUT BUT …Obama was on Jay Leno and or at a fundraiser cracking jokes while the occupiers were getting their heads cracked , how is that for a fearless leader …
Yes, Obama was yukking it up with Leno when Oakland was “under attack” !!!1 Oh my
You know, re: Oakland, it is very hard to know what happened when there are protestors in the crowd deliberately trying to make it worse.
In this video with the tear gas cannisters going off, you can also hear the distinctive popping of firecrackers all throughout the crowd. At around 36 seconds, you can see some sort of firework hit the ground midscreen – it is way too small to be teargas, and looks to have been tossed by one of the running young men. Who the fuck knows what else the insane dudebro anarchists set off to make the police “attack” look worse than it was?
The problem with lying about what you are doing, and trying to manufacture police brutality (which has consistently happened at OWS
sites – from charging police to lying under their motorcycles claiming to have been “run over”) is that people wonder to what lengths you would go to provoke violence or the illusion thereof.
I know! We don’t know what hit that Iraqi vet. It could have been a bottle from another protester. If you watch the video there is no smoke or tear gas anywhere near him and you can clearly see him on the ground. It stands to reason that if he was hit by a tear gas container, he would be surrounded by smoke and gas, but he isn’t.
OT Anyone know who Herb Allison is?

He’s a former Merrill Lynch guy, and on the advisory board of the NY Fed. I know he was the guy in charge of TARP – that got totally misused. He was also head of Fannie Mae in 2008 – more corruption and coverup there.
In short, he’s a “make the problem go away and make the books look good” guy. He oversaw Fannie’s and the banks’ bailouts.
Interesting. From 2002 to 2008, he was head of TIAA-CREF, a financial services firm that invests for educator pensions.
The firm bought billions in mortgage-backed securities. They were one of the parties that later sued Countrywide for selling them to them.
Then he goes directly to Fannie and helps get a lot of that risk/loss shifted over to the taxpayer via Fannie? Then he goes to administer TARP funds? Now he’s going to “handle” the Solyndra investigation?
Funny how wherever something needs to be “cleaned up” and money trails hidden and obfuscated, this guy’s name pops up.
A lot of physicians invest in TIAA-CREF, too
More Solyndra news. Energy Sec Chu will testify before Congress on Nov 17.

I’m hearing on the evening news that the committee will actually issue subpoenas to the White House “players” in the Solyndra scandal, since the committee has been stymied in their requests. They’re asking for ALL emails relating to Solyndra.
Any guesses re who might be the new John Dean?

Uh, I can’t believe NYC and other places want this kind of ugliness going on now that the holiday season will soon start. What will Bloomie and the rest do about that? Can’t imagine tourists wondering if stuff will turn nasty now that the protesters want to spread out at will.
While NYC holds holiday charms that can’t be replicated elsewhere, the Rockettes have a group tour Nashville in Dec and Branson does shows, etc.
I wonder if the protests will affect tourist $$.
