Is he drunk or stupid?

What’s wrong with Rick? Bizarre video shows a ‘rambling, incoherent’ Governor Perry

Rick Perry has got people talking – but for all the wrong reasons.

The GOP presidential candidate gave a speech in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Friday night which has prompted concerns from his fans and criticism from his opponents.

In it, he appears to be unusually expressive, rambling and sometimes even incoherent.

His tone and pitch verge from the manic to the sombre and subdued as he puts on strange voices and waves his arms in the air.

At least he seemed more alert than he did during the last debate.

  1. I’m guessing both

  2. I want whatever he’s on!

  3. To give Perry his due – if he is sauced at least he’s a happy drunk.
Much better than the mean ones or the weepy ones.
But maybe it’s meds. Is his doctor on Mitt’s payroll?

    • He had major back surgery only about 2 months ago. I have wondered since his very first debate whether he is on pain meds. Perry is no glib smoothie, and is gaffe-prone, but this kind of stuff is seriously unusual for him. The one debate he did a little better in he got to sit for 2 hours instead of stand, so perhaps was less doped? That seemed significant to me, that he did better sitting.

I think he’s on some heavy painkillers, and maybe stuff to counteract the drowsiness as well. It’s all medically justified and perfectly understandable if so, as back surgery is no picnic and the recovery is slow. But I wonder if he miscalculated his body’s ability to handle a grueling campaign so soon after his surgery.

  4. Hey, at least he’s not comparing other women’s height to his wife’s height.

  5. Hotair has the full speech video – to me he seems to be a bit loosened up and going for laughs but still in control of his faculties, and to be honest, seems to know more about what he’s talking about than Obama does with two teleprompters.

  6. Speaking of the drunks and stupids, I found the theme song for OWS :P

  7. I’m certainly not rooting for Perry, but the more he is criticized the more sympathetic I become towards him. The media has created this image of him being this overly macho gunslinger. He really isn’t, he’s kind of a dork.

    • Me too. So far he has 2 things going for him imo – he got in Mitt’s face (the only one) and the media is not liking him.

I really don’t hate the reported cronyism though.

  8. It’s finally dark outside. I’m gonna go hide behind the bushes with my garden hose so I can spray kids and yell “Get off my lawn!”

    Getting old isn’t all bad.

  9. Can we have Tinfoil Tuesday this week ? I really want to have a good laugh about this one……Ha !

    Ha, ha ?

  10. Day 3 of no power thanks to the Nor’Easter on Saturday.
There are still trees and power lines down in the roads.

Temps are in the 30′s at night.
Little House on the Prairie gets really old at this point.

Our town police dept. “canceled” Halloween.

    • Maybe they should cancel cold as well.

      • I think we need to “cancel” Gov. Deval Patrick, who’s giving ‘heckuva job” kudos to the power companies for their “efforts..”

Scott Brown, OTOH, doesn’t think the response is acceptable, and is pressuring National Grid to ‘step it up.”

No comment from Elizabeth Warren. I guess she has heat and lights at her house.

  11. [...] a not-so anonymous hot tip, Tinfoil Tuesday has this Conspiracy Theory to dine on today: Within the last 24 hours significant, [...]
