Newsweek descends into self-parody

Professional dirt-bag Andrew Sullivan takes the Democratic attack meme that voters are too stupid to appreciate Obama, which Michelle Obama translated as “they don’t know … people are confused”, and distills it into it’s essence: “Obama critics are dumb”.

I think our brilliant readers are right to call this The Cootie Theory of Politics.* When you stand for nothing and have nothing to campaign on or for, just convince the voters that the other side has cooties.

Sarah Palin points out the sliminess of Newseek’s writer source in a tweet:

@Newsweek: know what’s truly “dumb”? Giving a cover story to the TrigTruther conspiracy kook writer who thinks I didn’t give birth to my son

Any guesses on what Newsweek’s next cover will be?
Maybe “Your mama is trash if you don’t vote Obama.”

    Canada actually has some interesting laws against non citizens attempting to influence their elections. I’m starting to think they have the right idea.

    That said, keep in mind that Newsweek was bought a few years ago by none other than Jane Harmon’s husband. It’s now the Official Publication of OFA. And it’s obvious to me. Sadly, a lot of the traditional middle of the road readers haven’t seen the trajectory change and won’t for some time.

    That might be an improvement from OFA’s 2008 campaign strategy: “You’re racist if you don’t vote Obama” and it looks like they’re going with the same script for 2012. They are dumb as bricks, these OFA guys. If they didn’t have their precious race card, that would be apparent to everyone.

    Unfortunately for us, I keep feeling the fix is in — all the stops are going to be pulled out, even worse & more vicious then in 2008 & Obama is going to be given a second term (the same way he was given the Dem. nomination).       It’s the MPAA (Chris Dodd) and friends versus Google (Eric Schmidt) and friends. There’s much chatter and debate about the culture of the internet etc. But it’s really about bigtime corporate money and revenues for both sides. MPAA side wants privacy and non-piracy. Google side wants piracy and non-privacy. That’s my shorthand read. :-)
