So yesterday Bristol Palin put up a post at her new blog calling out President Obama for using a double standard and for taking money from professional misogynist Bill Maher:
But here’s why I’m a little surprised my phone hasn’t rung. Your $1,000,000 donor Bill Maher has said reprehensible things about my family. He’s made fun of my brother because of his Down’s Syndrome. He’s said I was “f—-d so hard a baby fell out.” (In a classy move, he did this while his producers put up the cover of my book, which tells about the forgiveness and redemption I’ve found in God after my past – very public — mistakes.)
If Maher talked about Malia and Sasha that way, you’d return his dirty money and the Secret Service would probably have to restrain you. After all, I’ve always felt you understood my plight more than most because your mom was a teenager. That’s why you stood up for me when you were campaigning against Sen. McCain and my mom — you said vicious attacks on me should be off limits.
Yet I wonder if the Presidency has changed you. Now that you’re in office, it seems you’re only willing to defend certain women. You’re only willing to take a moral stand when you know your liberal supporters will stand behind you.
But . . .
What if you did something radical and wildly unpopular with your base and took a stand against the denigration of all women . . . even if they’re just single moms? Even if they’re Republicans?
I have to take issue with Bristol calling Obama’s supporters “liberals” but other than that she was spot on.
Only a few of progressive bloggers acknowledged her post, but only TBogg wallowed in the misogyny:

And instead of posting funny LOLmoose pictures and 101 Uses For Ranch Dressing recipes (baby formula? why not!) she is putting up “writey things” which Palin family fans can then print out and keep until they meet someone who can read it to them while they clap their hands in childish delight. Then it gets scrapbooked for posterity.

Then Bristol talks about that mean Bill Maher man who is on that HBO channel that did that movie where they made her mom look dumb and, even worse, made Bristol looked fat, and that Obama should pay a million dollar fine. She also mentions SuperPacs which, until recently, Bristol thought were those large 60-piece tubs of Juicy Fruit, but apparently they’re like that bank account that her mom uses to pay for family vacations.
Anyway, the President should call Bristol, but not during the day because she will be at her job as the assistant skin exfoliater trainee at Merle Norman and her boss won’t let her take personal phones calls while she’s working because she’s a total bitch.
I know this will shock you but TBogg didn’t think too highly of Hillary Clinton either.

I remember reading his blog a few times years ago. He came off as a very disappointed, gripey, middle-age man. He has to have a target for his “radical chic” superiority. It must be hell to be a middle-aged man compelled to obsess over and pick on very young women.

Oh, I remember that comment on the campaign trail and the unearned praise he received for “standing up”. I never doubted that the only reason he “stood up” was because the attacks were getting too close to home! It was a CYA, as in C-My Own-A, procedure.

Here’s an idea. If the WH is censoring the story because of security concerns for Malia, how about they keep her really safe and cancel the trip instead?
But I bet the real reason is optics.

The Dem party and their so-called “liberals” have jumped the shark. Daily Caller today has a leaked video of Tom Hanks yukking it up with a guy in blackface, a big afro wig, a leopard-print toga, and an armband of animal teeth. It’s stunningly racist. But the fact that they were poking fun at O’Reilly and conservatives supposedly makes it all okay.
The most interesting thing about this to me is that the person who filmed it at Hanks’ request, and who has now leaked the video, is a WOMAN. Maybe a some liberal women are waking up to the fact that “I can be as nasty/misogynist/racist as I want to be, so long as I’m on the correct political side” is a sellout and an excuse for a great deal of ugliness at the heart of the Democratic Party. Maybe some women are fed up, and not going to play along anymore.

Not surprising. Older white women are going to be the thematic symbol of choice (pun intended) for Obama’s campaign. I keep seeing the narrative popping up in subtext more and more. Watch for it to become full-blown this summer, especially if whoever-the-nominee is decides to run a woman. By November people will be thinking that older white women are ten times more evil that Wall Street.
This will happen even if the VP selection is a minority female, like Suzanne Martinez of NM, or Nikki Haley of SC. They are technically white because they are assigned the demographic label of Caucasian. I’m already seeing this distinction come up in the Treyvon Martin case, in which Zimmerman, an Hispanic male, is constantly described as “white.”
This is a real issue in this culture. White women are viewed as pampered and spoiled , selfish and greedy. Middle class and lower class white women are denigrated and insulted with impunity. Whenever I come across a young person bellyaching about their mothers I say I am sorry you are so disappointed in your mothers, imagine how she feels about you. This produces some very awkward silences as I stare at them.
It’s too soon for any first lady.
We need a first dude.

I admit I am bemused by that.
One thing that’s kind of neat about the Palins, not long ago women were pretty invisible and they liked to just dismiss us as irrelevant. Sarah Palin, and now Bristol, have managed to show us that what women think and say matters and that we are entitled to have a voice in the public discourse.
