Unprecedented & Unpresidented

Lorac has a great round-up on the pushback at Obama’s assertion that SCOTUS overturning Congress would be “unprecedented.”
The country has certainly seen a lot of unprecedented unpresidenting ever since since Obama occupied the WH. What are your unfavorite historic unpresidential Obama actions?

  2. So simple even Obama could understand this :D

    • Love that.
(Specially with the implied dig at govt being a circus)

      Panem et circenses.

    • really great, even a constitutional scholar should be able to understand it

    • They used to play these School House Rock “commercials” between Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid. Yes, I’m dating myself!

I loved these when I was a kid and it really is too bad that “Gen-X” (yeah right!) obama was probably too old to have seen them – or maybe he wasn’t here at the time.

      Circus! How true.

      • Hey, I’m much younger than Obama and I saw them. Love School House Rocks. But I believe that it was a full 1/2 hour of them. Commercials I remember most was ‘don’t drown your food’ and ‘mushmouth’ (about not brushing your teeth).

Anybody notice how the legislators are replacing the clowns??

        • I was kidding about obama – he is probably too old to have actually seen them or they aired when he was living in Indonesia.

    • He is such a disaster with allies. Can you even imagine how bad it will be if he has a 2nd term and Hillary isn’t SoS anymore?

      • Doesn’t John Kerry want her job? Euwwww. He’s gaffier than Biden. Though I’m sure the job will go to the one who spins BO back into the WH best.

        Or Michelle ? She’s a Hillary wannabe ;)

  3. they are a Circus.

  4. The Executive and Legislative branches regularly duke it out about their partisan differences regarding policy and legislation. The President has the bully pulpit and Senators and Congresscritters hold press conferences and are routinely interviewed by the press corps.

But the Supreme Court is supposed to be mute outside of court. Justices do not give interviews, hold press conferences or write op-ed pieces about the cases they are deciding or have decided upon.

For Obama to publicly attack the SC as he has recently done and as he did at the SOTU address shows a stunning lack of respect for the Supreme Court. He knows that they cannot publicly respond to his attacks or correct his misrepresentation of precedent setting rulings. Obama is just a thug from Chicago.

    • Obama wants a rubber-stamp Judiciary, just like his favorite founding father President Sukarno

      • Very interesting read votermom.

“Years of research on personal views of individualism vs. collectivism consistently place the United States at the very top of the 67 countries Hofstede has studied, with an average score 91 out of 100 on the individualism-over-collectivism scale, while Indonesia ranks 61st, or sixth from the bottom, with an average score of 14 out of 100.”

“Crony collectivism” Chicago style seems to be a core Obama belief.

Collectivism/socialism seems to work best in a small homogenous country like Sweden where everyone is expected to contribute to the collective well being and shares similar work ethics and values.

Large geographically and culturally diverse populations don’t have a good track record with collectivism, China and Russia come to mind. It must be a part of human nature to want to be rewarded for your individual initiative and hard work. People still want to come to the USA because of the possibility that they can improve their life through their own efforts.

        • “Crony collectivism” Chicago style seems to be a core Obama belief.

          Perfect encapsulation.

        • Or “corporate collectivism.” Same diff maybe. Multinational corporations have become way richer than most nations, and it’s one of the reasons we’ve built up these huge banking/financial monopolies. Was reading some Bernanke minutes from 2003 the other day, and he pretty much uses outright war language in describing Fed policy. Think he’s being more careful now that he’s boss, but it’s kind of like that.

  5. Huh?! Some new information is surfacing about George Zimmerman’s behavior regarding blacks and whites. We may never know for sure, who confronted whom on the fateful tragic evening their paths crossed, but it has become evident that the story of these two males is far more complex than the first pictures of them shown by the media implied.

“In late 2010 and early 2011 George Zimmerman, the Hispanic Sanford, Fla., man who shot and killed 17-year-old black teen Trayvon Martin, publicly demanded discipline in a race-related beating case for at least two of the police officers who cleared him after the Feb. 26 altercation.

In a letter to Seminole County NAACP president Turner Clayton, a member of the Zimmerman family wrote that George was one of “very few” in Sanford who publicly condemned the “beating of the black homeless man Sherman Ware on Dec. 4, 2010, by the son of a Sanford police officer,” who is white.”

  6. And people think Santorum is the theocrat we should be afraid of? He’s got nothing on Teh Won.
    BO’s latest Messiahology:

    http://www.jammiewf.com/2012/good-grief-obama-says-thinking-about-resurrection-of-jesus-helps-him-through-tough-times/

President Barack Obama says the Easter story of Christ’s agony and resurrection has helped him get through the tough moments of an embattled presidency.

The president got “Amens” from religious leaders at a White House prayer breakfast in the East Room as he recounted Jesus saying, “In this world, you will have trouble.”

Obama says he’s among those who sometimes question God’s plan for him. But he says that’s precisely when he recalls the “triumph” of the Easter story, and Jesus overcoming his doubts and fears before the crucifixion.

    • It is always about him. Talk about one-upmanship. Nobody knows the trouble he’s seen.

Obama the Pretender “pretending that you’re still around” as more and more become disenchanted with “that one’.

  7. Ya know, Ryan’s budget has its problems, but could we discuss those problems like adults? The hair-on-fire screeching hyperbole from the Dems is just ridiculous.

Because I remember those days of govt only spending18-20% of gdp. I remember the roving bands of starving citizens, the horrible and cruel wasteland that was America. It was JUST like Mad Max.

    *eyeroll*

    • It was JUST like Mad Max.

      • Someone asked me if we could go back to Clinton tax rates. I said sure, if we can guarantee that we go back to Clinton spending levels. They didn’t like that.

Because we all know that the US of A was practically Somalia then, and the govt had NO money to meet any of their obligations. I remember it well.

I can’t get any intelligent response. Only “ZOMG, teh evil Republicaaans and imminent THUNDERDOOOOOOME!!!!!!. That’s what will happen if spending is cut to 18 to 20% of gdp. Prepare for swollen-bellied toddlers lining the thoroughfares with flies on their eyes, standing in line for dwindling charity cornmush, at those spending levels.

And you know what else? That’s what all people who suggest less spending genuinely want in their evil little hearts. Honest. They would be soooo happy to see that. It’s what they live for – those fly-laden children.

    • And once again his little caveat about cuts in Ryan’s budget negates every scenario Obama put forth in that speech to AP.

      “If applied across the board….”

I genuinely tried but couldn’t make it through the whole thing because of all the lies about himself and others….ugh. Could you imagine a bunch of PUMAs/Clinton Dems attending one of his speeches? It would probably throw him off his lame-speech-game watching all those reactions to his repeated lies and produce some great YouTube moments.

We could call it Operation Eyeroll.

  8. I missed this – from a c4p comment.

So yesterday on the Today show one of the things they “had” to talk about was Jessica Simpson’s weight gain while posing pregnant for a magazine cover. The Today crew started in on Simpson’s gall and called her “pretty fat” while Palin defended Simpson and said that it reflects Hollywoods body image problem (“itty bitty people”).

Contrast this to Teh Won was in Feb was asked about the mag choosing Jessica Simpson for the cover over him and he laughs at her and says “she’s in a weight battle.”

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2009/02/02/nbc-obama-calls-singer-jessica-simpson-fat

    • That panel discussion really bothered me. Lame attacks on women and a bunch of dumb topics led by Matt Lauer, who was less than spell-binding.

  9. What are your unfavorite historic unpresidential Obama actions?

Seeing our POTUS bow and scrape to foreign leaders was unsettling.

  10. Jay Carney is a complete numbskull.

  11. When a reporter asked Carney why Obama made the comment that he did about the SCOTUS, he said the president was simply responding to a question. Geez Carney, the president’s response could have been, and should have been, I have no comment until after the SCOTUS makes a decision!!! These people think we are all really gullible…..this presidency is rapidly turing into Gullible’s Travels!!!

  12. gaffier, Operation Eyeroll, Gullible’s Travels — everyone is so witty today, and I’m dying here laughing!

  13. Greta is looking for a serious discussion about Hillary being POTUS. So far most comments are negative.

    http://gretawire.foxnewsinsider.com/2012/04/03/would-you-vote-for-secretary-of-state-hillary-clinton-for-president/

    • Greta works at Fox where the conservatives are, why would we expect anything different. :-) Meanwhile the left has finally begun leveraging her, though I personally don’t think it’ll make much difference in November. And she won’t be actively campaigning for Obama.
