David Brooks:
President Obama is an intelligent, judicious man who can see all sides of an issue. But every once in a while he tries to get politically cute, and he puts on his Keith Olbermann mask.
I suppose it’s to his credit that he’s most inept when he tries to take the low road. He resorts to hoary, brain-dead clichés. He wanders so far from his true nature that he makes Mitt Romney look like Mr. Authenticity.
Bobo isn’t really a moron, he just plays one in the media. He knows that the “intelligent, judicious man” is the mask. The other Obama is the real one.

Bush’s Third Term indeed. Nothing’s changed, except my old “Bushitler” buddies seemed to have lost their voice.

The Right Brain vs Left Brain test
Right brained. But now I’m confused, didn’t Rev. Wright say only blacks were right brained? Hey, I’m black.
She keeps switching directions for me. What does that say?
Left brained initially, but I can see counterclockwise if I try. I have to look at only the feet for a few seconds to get my brain to switch.
She’s only turning clockwise for me and she’s making me dizzy.
Not only does she switch directions …she switches feet.
It changes randomly. Watch long enough and you will see the obvious switcheroo. It ain’t your brain doing it, it’s the graphics.
Fun puzzle tho!
Oh Geez, I meant it to nest below
myiq
‘s Left Brain vs Right Brain puzzle.
Brooks doesn’t say let all Bush tax cuts expire, he doesn’t even mention it. Neither Obama nor Ryan nor Romney have committed to the expiration. A 10-year extension would cost $3.7 trillion, by far the biggest piece in the federal deficit puzzle. Any deficit rhetoric that doesn’t clarify this is just that, rhetoric. Just more campaign season noise in the media.
My understanding is that Ryan’s plan doesn’t address that because it completely restructures the tax rates – keeping them mostly the same or lower, but getting rid of almost all deductions and loopholes. It does, in theory, make a big difference if the top rate is 35% but very few actually pay that, vs. if the top rate is 25% but almost all the top earners pay every bit of it. The devil is always in the details, of course.
Thx, that makes sense. Think both sides talk a big game about getting rid of tax expenditures, like they talk about medicare reform. But it’s mostly campaign rhetoric imo. Doubt they’d do anything about them in this economy, they need the money pumping thru the system. My guess also is they’ll extend the Bush tax cuts (to everyone) for another two years. They’ll vote to do that in December, but they may have already come to an understanding. Dunno. More Fed easing looks more likely after today.
wow…not sure what country these people live in….”President Obama is an intelligent, judicious man”…..but, personally, I have not seen one sign of this….
