Wrote an essay on the ERA, picked up some new plants for the garden, planted one of them, decided to reserve the other two until after Thursday because it’s supposed to freeze Wednesday night. Also cooked asaparugus soup ( a new yummy recipe) and did miscellaneous housework. Relaxed with a couple of beers, and am now ready for Mad Men in t-minus 28 minutes. It’s been a good day.
This soup is great, cynic, but a little thin. I recommend thickening it up with some starch (real of fake potatoes work, as does eggplant) or try using a roux. But it tastes really, really good. A little spicy if you use more cayenne.
Thanks for the recipe! I love cayenne pepper, and even add it to my quiche. Anybody have a good recipe for pickled asparagus? I’ve tried freezing it, but not fond of it.
Game of Thrones over, now watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it’s cheesy as hell, and designed to manipulate emotion. Did I mention how CHEESY it is? But I still watch and I still tear up.
It’s feel-good mental junk food viewing. I like to believe for just a little while, that the world is not full of selfish assholes.
I love how Al via his spokesman said he never said he would do a full blown “occupation” even though doing the promise to do a full blow occupation are pretty much his own words. When all you do is lie, it’s hard to keep track.
Interesting. Found out something I wasn’t aware of, too. I knew that Zimmerman had advocated for the investigation and discipline of the officers involved in the earlier beating of the black homeless man.
What I didn’t know, but the article mentions, is that 2 of the cops Z tried to have disciplined were also arresting officers in his case.
So it appears that the arresting officers were no big friends to Zimmerman. Perhaps that means that the circumstances and his injuries were clear enough that they knew a self-defense claim was legit. Why would cops he’d tried to have disciplined lie and cover up on his behalf?
Watching Game of Thrones, relaxing…
Earlier this week, I shared Ted Neeley’s 1973 Jesus, now here he is at almost 70, still, goosebumps….

Boy, did I butcher asparagus. Must be the beer. This is number 3, the last of the Celebration Ale.
So, what’s wrong with asaparugus anyway, eh?
Recipe, please? I have a large asparagus patch in my garden, had five cuttings already, and need new ways to prepare it.
Have you tried asparagus and cheese tart? Yummm … :blissful emoticon:

This is my favorite:
One of the Extreme Makeover homes is down the street from me. It was great fun watching it all happen.
kind of like a mental time out.

Ted was great, but the original, Deep Purple’s Ian Gillian, will always be my favorite:
Did someone say Ian Gillian. Weird how his voice never gets old.
More Ian:
Crap, you beat me to it. Here’s even more.
