I take a day off and big stories break:
Santorum Suspends Presidential Campaign
Rick Santorum suspended his presidential campaign on Tuesday, bowing to the inevitability of Mitt Romney’s nomination and ending his improbable, come-from-behind quest to become the party’s conservative standard-bearer in the fall.
“We made a decision over the weekend, that while this presidential race for us is over, for me, and we will suspend our campaign today, we are not done fighting,” Mr. Santorum said.
Mr. Santorum made the announcement at a stop in his home state of Pennsylvania after a weekend in which he tended to his 3-year-old daughter, Bella, who had been hospitalized with pneumonia.
Mr. Santorum, who was holding back tears, did not exactly specify why he was ending his presidential bid. He referred to his daughter’s illness, but said she was making great progress and was back home after being hospitalized over the weekend.
Mr. Santorum called Mr. Romney earlier in the day to tell him of his plans to suspend his campaign. Mr. Santorum told Mr. Romney that he is committed to defeating President Obama, but that he is not going to endorse immediately, said a source familiar with the call.
Rick is out, Gingrich is broke and Ron Paul is . . . Ron Paul. All the other Not-Romneys faded or flopped. Now we’ll see if Romney can unite and motivate the GOP.
Here’s an interesting “what if?” scenario:

November is over six months away.
I picked a bad year to quit smoking crack.
for the first time in my entire life last election I voted republican. I could do it with a conscience because I never doubted McCain loved the country and I do like Sarah Palin. I knew backtrack would be bad,but I did not realise just how bad he would be for the country.
As long as the democrats insist on backtrack, I will vote republican again this election. I doubt after the 2008 election and the aftermath of the last 4 years, I will ever be able to vote democratic again.
Hmmmm, time to look at potential VP’s. Maybe then I’ll get fired up and ready to go.

I just want the press to stop covering Santorum. I feel queezy whenever I see him. He gives me the creeps. The good people of Pennsylvania knew what they were doing.
I really think Ricky was running for radio host, Fox news panelist, or incendiary right wing paid speaker so he did not have to work much and just shoot his mouth off to have a living handing to him. Maybe he can write a navel gazing book like other hacks (wink wink) do for a little payola.
Personally, I just can’t bring myself to another “lessr of two evils” option. I know it’s a disconcerting time with lots of problems to be solved but problem solving is not what politics is about anymore….maybe never was. It’s about popularity and glam and what am I gonna get. In that regard, and once the race baiting, religion and viral lying elemnts are engaged full throttle, I just don’t think Romney stands a chance. It’s a sad time. I suppose it’s good that Santorum dropped out and Gingrich still wants to push the platforms but as far as real change having a chance in this country…..good luck. Maybe I’ll feel more optimistic tomorrow…..except things on the local level here in Santa Fe/Santa Fe County aren’t much better. Longing for the time of the “greater of two goods”…..guess I’ll have to wait some more.
I can still wish for Palin and Rubio…..
Personally, I just can’t bring myself to another “lessr of two evils” option.
Can’t blame anyone for that. Mitt has got to give voters a reason not to just sit out the election.
The only reason I need to votre for him is that he ain’t Barack Obama.
Seriously ~ liberal causes can’t take four more years of this Orwellian double speak and the greatest republican president evah. He’s got to go so we can get back on track.
I’m not giving Barack Obama another four years to cement his control of the Democratic Party and redefine all it stands for around himself. I’ll vote for anyone who can get him out. That’s my priority. YMMV.
I keep hearing the Dem propaganda machine talking about the Jimmy Buffet rule. Every time I do I have a margarita. I wish they’d stop so I can stop this multi-day drunk. Oh no, there they go again.
Now THAT is the best answer I’ve seen in a while. I’m firing up the blender!
love it
I’d like to know why Buffet should get more SS benefits and better Medicare coverage than his secretary..
Pouring a stiff one right now
“medical”, not Medicare
We’re supposed to get drunk?
I’ve been eating Chinese food
I found a receipe for Margarita cake. this way you can do both

Can you imagine what it would be like to be George Zimmerman right now? The whole country has been sucked into something that should have been a local matter. It’s no wonder Zimmerman disappeared. Justice should be served–but not by the Hoodie Lynch Mob.
If I were he I would be visiting Machu Picchu.
This is turning into a Terri Schiavo circus.
With the added feature of a tried and true method of the old Dem party, hooded lynch mob.
US Attorney General Eric Holder says ‘high bar’ to bring federal civil rights charges in Trayvon Martin case – @Reuters
Most murder cases you have people discussing the importance of keeping witness testimony pure. That if witnesses make statements to the press those statements could be used by an attorney to discredit them later on the stand.
No one seems to care about preserving these witnesses or any other evidence for trial.
And the cynical side of me, wonders if this case was chosen to exploit because it wouldn’t end favorably for the mob.
When that ALEC group hit the news the other day. It’s wiki page was being edited to include the ‘Stand Your Ground Law’, on March 22, based on a TPM article. It looked like there was also battle going back and forth on the edits to include info about Trayvon. Anyway, March 22, a bunch of vigils were being held and March 23 Obama made his statement about Trayvon being his son.
The history page of edits.

Years ago, after watching a scrubbing of info about Bush and their aquifer happen moments after linking it to a political board. These edit pages have held more interest.
Here is the article at TPM that allowed ALEC’s wiki page to be edited with the Stand Your Ground law.

That article also links to Mother Jones and Media Matters articles discussing the NRA’s connection to these ‘Castle Laws’.
It seems like Holder has another issue which dovetails into this case besides race. Hasn’t the NRA been giving him grief over that gunrunning operation in Mexico?
Just after Michelle Malkin tweeted a link to those murder threats, some thug tweeted her: “You’re next, bitch.”
you can not make this up

WaPo’s using one unnamed source saying that charges will be brought against George Zimmerman. Waiting for confirmation and possible press conference later today?

Saw this on hotair. The graphic is pretty interesting.

That is creepy. Do we even know that much about Obama?
And obviously for some of the Obot readers, I don’t support ALEC having never heard of them prior to the other day. But for another view of the group. They seem to have their fingers in a lot of pies.
