Hire Women – They’re Cheaper

Hostile Workplace

Female employees in the Obama White House make considerably less than their male colleagues, records show.

According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000).

Calculating the median salary for each gender required some assumptions to be made based on the employee names. When unclear, every effort was taken to determine the appropriate gender.

The Obama campaign on Wednesday lashed out at presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney for his failure to immediately endorse the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, a controversial law enacted in 2009 that made it easier to file discrimination lawsuits.

President Obama has frequently criticized the gender pay gap, such as the one that exists in White House.

“Paycheck discrimination hurts families who lose out on badly needed income,” he said in a July 2010 statement. “And with so many families depending on women’s wages, it hurts the American economy as a whole.”

It is not known whether any female employees at the White House have filed lawsuits under the Ledbetter Act.

The president and his Democratic allies have accused Republicans of waging a “war on women,” and have touted themselves as champions of female equality. Obama’s rhetoric, however, has not always been supported by his actions.

I’m shocked, shocked! Who could have foreseen?

Us, that’s who.

Remember when it was discovered that John McCain paid his female staffers better than Senator Obama did? Remember the sausagefest that was Obamanation? Remember the unhinged misogyny of Obama supporters? Remember the condescending and patronizing way that Obama treated women during the campaign?

Nothing good comes from a bad seed.

  1. No sweetie, this is all you get paid. Now go run along and do your work sweetie.

  2. You’re likable enough.

Just not as likable as my bros.

    Bro’s before Ho’s you know.

  3. The seed was planted with groping cardboard Hillary.

  4. The more things change…….
Same shit different damn century. And where are the “main stream morons”? Covering up for the bastard- AGAIN.
Please oh please let Romney take him to the mat. The DNC wants to corral all the wimminz with their war on women BS? Well Romney needs to take this stick and beat them to the ground with it.
And I am noticing some rumblings about “Mormonism” being “weird.” Uh huh. Ok. I hope the Mormons pull out every available sound bite of that America hating pig Wright.

    • pleeeeeease play the Mormon card….. show us what Bigots you can really be.

… then see just how much $$$ the mormons are willing to donate to Mitt to get a mormon elected.

      • I think they forget that in addition to money, Mormons routinely spend 2 years of their lives knocking on doors.

Built-in GOTV infrastructure, ready to go! :D

      • I have no big problem with Mormons. I think their religion is a little weird, but not my concern. IRL, every single Mormon I’ve ever personally known has been a really extremely nice person. I can’t say the same for all evangelicals (though many of them are too.)

        Just my experience, FWIW.

        • honk
All religions are a little weird…that’s the whole reason FAITH is the one word answer.

  5. Wait, are wives fair game now? And since when is raising 5 boys not work?

    • A smart GOP ad man will put that clip on loop in an ad aimed at women. Stay at home moms get motivated enough, they could crush Obama.

    • Video here, and it’s BAD. Dripping with condescension. Women like Ann Romney (a cancer and MS survivor who raised 5 boys) are practically clueless about economic concerns. Why the hell is she telling Mitt her concerns? She doesn’t HAVE any, silly twit!

      • Hmmpf! I’m betting Mrs. Romney doesn’t even have any drycleaning, so what the fuck does she know?

        • Oh man, that is going to go over like moldy bread to French peasants. She just sounded way out of touch. Everybody knows that spouses in a power couple like that work. She isn’t exactly hanging out at home hosting tea parties in her rose garden. They are scared, and I smell it.

      • Is she fucking kidding me? “War on women” is not a Democratic construction my ass. That’s fine, though. I’ll take as an acknowledgement that their narrative is losing and they know it, so they are…wait for it…backtracking.

Now back to watch that part about Anne Romney.

    • Staying married 43 years is hard work too ;) Otherwise,

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Romney

I’m impressed she’s juggled all she has despite some medical setbacks.

      • Jesus, this is why Wiki is not a good source. Check out this crap bias on Anne Romney, clearly [male] opinion, not fact:

Her personality as a political wife was viewed as superficial and was a detrimental factor in her husband’s eventually losing effort in the 1994 U.S. Senate election in Massachusetts.[18] In one instance during the campaign she was ridiculed for saying that she and her husband had never had a serious argument during their married years.[20]

        The trashing has clearly begun.

        • My bad, I usually don’t resort to wiki except for the overviews on the educational/career timelines. Despite the “edits”, her accomplishments are pretty amazing for a busy “non-working” mom :D

      • Stuck in moderation for stupid excess wiki links. :(

  6. Twitter is going bonkers over the Ann Romney comments by Rosen. Many moms are pissed.

  7. ROTFLMAO!! OWS “spring training” is hopping about like bunnies.

    I shit you not.

  8. Rosen is a lobbyist and political operative:

  9. I hate it when the National Weather Service interrupts my favorite programs. Why should I care about a tornado warning? I don’t live in a mobile home.

BTW – If you live in a single-wide in Hanford, you better head for cover.

    • When I lived in northcentral Montana, a tornado hit outside of Big Sandy and then moved into the Bear Paws. The only building that was hit was a mobile home.

      • Here in the Central Valley we don’t get real tornados. Occaisonally we get reports of funnel clouds but they only touch down once in a blue moon. The worst damage I can recall is some farmer lost the roof off his barn.

I have family in Oklahoma. One year a tornado cut across I-35 and left a mile long, quarter mile wide strip of plowed ground between Norman and OKC

Luckily it was farm land. The pictures were still impressive though.

  10. Rosen trying hard to walk back her statement, digging a hole and getting slammed. I like this one:

  11. BIG shitstorm from women on twitter. I can’t imagine the panicked DNC calls right now. Axelrod himself is Johhny-on-the-spot trying to tamp it down.

  12. Now other Dem officials weighing in, backtracking. I’m telling y’all, they REALLY stepped in it this time. Now headlining on Drudge as well.

Rosen getting bombarded, people asking if Debbie Wasserman Schultz does NOT speak for the Dem Party – since she repeatedly talks about GOP war on women, which rosen just claimed R’s made up.

  13. Aaaaaand, the shit has hit the fan SO badly, with furious moms out for blood, that Rosen is up on HuffPo trying to walk it back less than 6 hours after it aired, after digging her hole deeper on twitter.

    Iowahawk says it best:

  14. I find this fascinating.

Romney’s website said that women account for 92.3 percent of jobs lost under Obama.

Apparently this is true. Although as Politifact points out, most of the jobs lost in the recession were in 2008 when men lost jobs at more than twice the rate of women.

  15. I think the most insulting part of the comment by Hilary Rosen is that fact she completely disregards Ann Romney having a disabling condition like MS. With such diseases, most women have to decide between having kids and working a job. Having one is hard enough but 5 boys? How the Whole Foods Nation is unaware of this fact is deeply troubling. They profit off of women like Ann Romney who seek a healthy lifestyle to ameliorate the effects of their diseases, and consequently (and usually) change their family lifestyles into healthier ones as a result of their actions to get better through nutritional support.
