New Obama ad: “I killed Bin Laden!”

Seriously.

3 1/2 years in office and that’s all he has to brag about?

  1. ROTFLMAO!!! Obama is really desperate and flailing all over the place. Touting his getting Bin Laden, and questioning whether Romney would have made that decision?

So which is it, Axelrod? Is Mitt a flaming neo-con “Reign of Terror” warmongering most extreme scary Republican EVER, or a mild-mannered squish who would have let Osama go free given the chance?

Yeah, chest-beating macho Obama is the new meme. ROTFLMAO! Axelrod, you ain’t making metro-sexual, Mr-admirable-pants-crease Obama into war hero no matter how hard you try. Jeebus, these people are just hilarious.

A commenter on HotAir nailed it:

Guys, I seriously hope Obama tries to make bin Laden a big issue. I’ve spoken to enough liberals and swing voters and moderates (note that these are LEFT-LEANING ones too, which is telling) who actually roll their eyes at the “but he got bin Laden!” argument in favor of Obama. And these are people who still like Obama!

The point is that, even though everyone’s glad that (to quote Radiohead) UBL is getting eaten by the worms and weird fishes, nobody — even left-leaners — takes it seriously as an argument for reelection. It’s a bauble. Everyone knows that any President would have done the same. To the extent it has any effect, it allows liberals to say “see, Obama isn’t the COMPLETE p*ssy you people think he is!” But again: it’s still the economy, and we’re not stupid.

So again: I hope Obama really tries to run with this. People are going to subconsciously take it as an admission that he’s got nothin’, no other accomplishments to run on.

  2. They have Bill Clinton telling us how great Obama was for getting OBL.
If that’s not desperate I don’t know what is.

    • Remember when they wanted to purge Bill from the party?

      • Bill was purged from the party. So was I.

        • The last of the Blue Dogs just got purged as well. Question: why is it that the media is utterly silent over moderate and centrist and DLC Dems getting shoved out of the D party, but is happy to trumpet how those evil teapartiers are “purging” the GOP and making it all extreme?

Why are the polarizing actions of the left never an issue, and any and all polarization occurring is the sole fault of the right?

        • WMCB, I see what you mean. However, the purging was done by the “progressives” not the liberals. We liberals are the ones who got thrown out on our asses.

I just wish those progressive asshats would put the Overton window back where they found it. It’s so far right, I can’t even see it from where I’m standing.

        • gxm, I’m not sure the normal left-right-continuum language even applies anymore to what is happening in either party. It’s all a mess.

        • True that. All I know is I’m voting Green. Me, my husband, and my daughter. Just waiting for Jill Stein to get the Green Party nod to buy all my election year goodies. For the first time ever I’m thinking of putting up one of those yard signs.

        • The Dems have gone full-blown authoritarian. Dubya’s admin was headed that way too.
I am quite skeptical that Mitt will be less authoritarian. I hope he proves me wrong.

        • votermom

That the Dems have gone full-blown authoritarian isn’t even the worst of it. The fact that the mythical left doesn’t care is what boggles the mind. That the liberal wing of the D-party willingly extinguished itself with barely a whimper is what has me scratching my head.

        • I think there will always be a right/left separation in the country, but what we have now is kind of a triad. The true liberals on the left are being pushed out by the authoritarian progressives. The true conservatives are fighting the authoritarians in the R party.

Those two groups of citizens, right and left, DO have differences. I’m not saying they are in kumbayah agreement or even should be. But they both recognize that the power structures of both parties are fucking oppressive Statists, with the only difference being to what ends they want to turn their accumulating power.

The battle is the lefties with a libertarian streak against concentrated power, and the righties with a libertarian streak against concentrated power. Both parties, in addition to fighting each other for power, want to also wipe out that populist/libertarian bent in the population – whether it be the lefty version or the righty version.

So far the right is doing a better job of resisting than the left is.

  3. Osama is dead. Who cares? Let’s talk about Obama’s premature Nobel Peace Prize!

    • LOL. I wonder what Nobel Peace Prize they’ll give him next. If he wins reelection maybe they’ll give one for making it to a second term. If he doesn’t, maybe they’ll give him one for all the great stuff he could have done if only those stupid Americans had let have a second chance. Gawd, I can’t even imagine what a mess he could make in another four years.

  6. I like the title of the video. The prezzy indeed does get one chance to make the right decision. In his first two years with a supermajority, he had the chance of a lifetime on what he could do with that time. Of all the things he could have done, he spent all his time and political capital on pushing a Republican bill written by the health insurance lobby, by and for the health insurance industry. Oh, and as an encore, he revived the nearly dead Republican party.

  7. the road we really traveled

  8. Funny how he doesn’t mention that he killed habeas corpus & now has American citizens under arrest without charge (when he’s not killing them with drones).

  9. AofS:

Our own Matt Lewis, showing the innate industriousness that sets Townhall contributors apart, contacted the Romney campaign and got the full text of the interview. Surprise, surprise- turns out the AP did miss some context. The exchange between Romney and reporter Liz Sidoti went as follows:

LIZ SIDOTI: “Why haven’t we caught bin Laden in your opinion?”

GOVERNOR MITT ROMNEY: “I think, I wouldn’t want to over-concentrate on Bin Laden. He’s one of many, many people who are involved in this global Jihadist effort. He’s by no means the only leader. It’s a very diverse group – Hamas, Hezbollah, al-Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and of course different names throughout the world. It’s not worth moving heaven and earth and spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person. It is worth fashioning and executing an effective strategy to defeat global, violent Jihad and I have a plan for doing that.”

SIDOTI: “But would the world be safer if bin laden were caught?”

GOVERNOR ROMNEY: “Yes, but by a small percentage increase – a very insignificant increase in safety by virtue of replacing bin Laden with someone else. Zarqawi – we celebrated the killing of Zarqawi, but he was quickly replaced. Global Jihad is not an effort that is being populated by a handful or even a football stadium full of people. It is – it involves millions of people and is going to require a far more comprehensive strategy than a targeted approach for bin laden or a few of his associates.”

    • Yep. He wasn’t saying “Don’t bother about getting Bin Laden”. He was saying that focusing solely on him was stupid.

      • Maybe it’s just me but invading a sovereign nation and ally to “get” one person is not the kind of action that should be taken lightly. It didn’t work so hot with Pancho Villa.

    • It’s called nuance! Lost on the Obots these days. Daresay, the more I read about Romney the more I feel that I will not hate him being POTUS in Nov.

  16. Ruh Roh! ABC is actually calling Obama on his hypocrisy with this ad by reminding everyone that he attacked Hillary Clinton in 2008 for daring to use the name of OBL to score political points! The bloom is most certainly off the rose, but enough to make this election actually fair? We’ll have to wait & see.

  17. Update: Romney responds to the ad by continuing to bring the focus back on the economy:

“The killing of Osama bin Laden was a momentous day for all Americans and the world, and Governor Romney congratulated the military, our intelligence agencies, and the President. It’s now sad to see the Obama campaign seek to use an event that unified our country to once again divide us, in order to try to distract voters’ attention from the failures of his administration. With 23 million Americans struggling for work, our national debt soaring, and household budgets being squeezed like never before, Mitt Romney is focused on strengthening America at home and abroad.”

    • I am THRILLED to see relentless focus on the economy – hehe, maybe he can beat this a** – and we can take our Party back.

  19. This is an ugly truth to speak, but Bush didn’t brag about having killed Saddam Hussein, he detained him, charged him, and had him put on trial. Bush declared some people to be enemy combatents and distinquished them from US citizens. Apparently President Obama doesn’t have the same regard for due process that President Bush had.

Holy crap, that’s a scary thought.

  20. Politico article about Clinton vs Cuomo in 2016. Basically a back and forth about prospects in the future with some minor Cuomo history to bolster the opinions of why he may or may not charge forward if she runs.

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0412/75634.html

Some interesting quotes….there is a PUMA bundler in NY….lol

“That’s the $64 billion question,” said John Catsimatidis, a major New York bundler who was a huge Clinton backer in 2008 (he now supports Mitt Romney) and has also supported Cuomo as governor, referring to a 2016 Clinton bid. “I don’t know and I don’t think anyone does.”

The article claims that his Dad’s presidential bid seemed to be speculated to its death. And notes that Cuomo isn’t going to make the same mistake. He has “seen this movie before” and isn’t courting the national spotlight as a result. But thanks to that last sentence. It reads like Cuomo is actually distancing himself from having to say supportive things about Obama on the national stage. Or even be in the same room with him which might be construed as support.

To that end, Cuomo — whose approval ratings in the state remain extremely high — is cautious about how he has handled anything perceptibly related to 2016. He has not really made out-of-state trips. He doesn’t go on the Sunday news shows, and has given infrequent one-on-one interviews, and almost none to national outlets. He is bypassing the Washington event of the year this weekend by skipping the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

There are some quotes from Dems, one being from D’Amato about Hillary being so close but failing in 2008. That Cuomo might try to ‘intimate’ Hillary out of the race with his early fundraising support, but that is refuted by another that says they will wait for Hillary to decide before supporting Cuomo.

So then it gets to information that I vaguely remember but being distracted lately I might be wrong. That Harold Ickes is running the pro-Obama Super Pac, and that Bill Clinton’s support for that Obama Pac is actually pointing to the future of the party.

It is an interesting article. Which sent me to Google to see if iirc the Ickes ties to that PAC.

Didn’t find the answer but was led to another interesting article. Clinton’s 2008 backers have not stepped up to donate to that pro Obama Super PAC despite Ickes running it.

    PUMA continues….

  21. Killing UBL had absolutely no impact on the economy, the TSA or any of the civil rights Obama is killing.

Bill Clinton needs to decide if he really wants Obama to be president in 2013. Talking about making the decision just brings back that interview where Chris Wallace asked Clinton why he chose not to bomb bin Laden’s compound.

republicans just stuck to the dems.
extended student loan rates , money to come from health care. Backtrack threatens to veto bill

    • The Republicans are pretty much making their point. They’ll pass spending bills, as long as it zeros out somewhere else. If student loans are important, take it out of Obamacare.

backtrack opens situation room to NBC for show to air on anniversary on ben laden’s death

  24. Romney seems to be stepping up to the plate….that’s a very good sign. He might just want to mention how many Iraqis, Afghanis, Pakistanis, and Iranians have been killed by their own kind since the demise of Bin Laden. From what I can gather at this point, OBL was nothing more than a monkey-spanking, old goat holed up in a decrepit old house. Disgusting!
