  1. Sense And Nonsense On “The Gutsy Call”

The Abbottabad raid was not DEVGRU’s maiden venture into Pakistan, either. The team had surreptitiously entered the country on ten to twelve previous occasions, according to a special-operations officer who is deeply familiar with the bin Laden raid. Most of those missions were forays into North and South Waziristan, where many military and intelligence analysts had thought that bin Laden and other Al Qaeda leaders were hiding. (Only one such operation—the September, 2008, raid of Angoor Ada, a village in South Waziristan—has been widely reported.) Abbottabad was, by far, the farthest that DEVGRU had ventured into Pakistani territory.

  2. Politics, being a blood sport, the Reps know how to play. They push and push for the most extreme ideology and ,truly. I think they are surprised when the Democrats don’t push back.

Even Speaker Boehner had to talk Obama back from touching the third rail on SS reform and Medicare last summer.

Democrats simply do not play for keeps.

Sheesh, the opposite side is supposed to push back with equal extreme ideology to have compromise.
    Otherwise it is surrender.

  4. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/president-obama-palin-difference-hockey-mom-pit-bull/story?id=16236828#.T50RtMWQl7A

“What’s the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull?” Obama asked. “A pit bull is delicious.”

It’s always the woman with this little freak.

What is the difference between Obama and a rabid dog? You feel sorry for the rabid dog.

    • he sooo deserves for that one to come back and bite his sneering petulant ass hard if I was in his campaign team I would be yanking out fistfuls of hair. There is nothing presidential about this guy. not a thing.

    • Lol, he just so can’t let go of anyone ever having poked fun of him. ‘Attack! Revenge!’ Petty, petty, petty.

And is it really all that smart to keep feeding (no pun intended, heh) into the dog eating meme? I shouldn’t think so.

      • There were some more dog on the roof jokes last night. The Democrats are going to hang onto this like Obama with a dog bone.

    • He took a shot at Hillary as well. Said:

Four years ago we were locked in a primary battle, and now she won’t stop drunk-texting me from Cartagena.

He always has to dig at the women.

    • I dunno, I thought the pit bull line was kinda funny.

Some of the other jokes not so much.

    • If Obama thinks Palin was the butt of that joke, he’s dumber than I realized.

  5. As mentioned by DT in an earlier thread, next year at Harvard you can get help Understanding Obama from a mentor of his and Michelle’s.

This reading group will focus on the way in which race, religion, and politics have impacted the development of President Obama as a leader. We will explore his views as a biracial child, his time as a student at Harvard Law School, the successes and failures of his political campaigns, and the way religion and his views on faith nearly derailed his campaign. Finally, time will be spent analyzing the challenges he faces as President of the United States in establishing both his domestic and global policies.

Personally I don’t think it can be taught. Won’t it be – as Bill Clinton said in another context – like nailing Jello to the wall?

  6. So I went and did some research on the Violence Against Women Act, since all the D’s are screaming about how the woman-hating R’s are refusing to renew it.

I thought that was odd, since they have had no problem renewing it in years past. So why? This is a question that 5 years ago I would not have asked myself – I’d have just taken the media’s word for it that the R’s were suddenly refusing to renew an act that they had always supported before. Woman haaaateeers!!!!

Turns out that the D’s added a bunch of amendments and crap onto it, including 15000 set aside asylum visas for illegal aliens claiming domestic abuse, and other stuff.

The R’s have offered to pass the bill as it has always been, and have also offered a version with fewer amendments than the D’s want, which the D’s have then refused to pass.

But you will never hear the MSM point this out, or accuse the D’s of hating women for refusing to pass either the old version or the R’s amended version. See, this is how the game is played. And I’ve learned to go check things out before I get all outraged.

    • Another problem the R’s had with the new Violence Against Women Act had to do with funding and local programs. The newly amended version would require more funding on the federal level, and would cut into and eliminate some very successful state and local domestic violence programs that are working very well in those states.

So the biggest problem the R’s are having with it is that it contains new federal power grabs, and tries to graft some open-ended amnesty provisions onto a domestic violence bill.

But the press WILL NOT cover the actual reasons for the R’s objections. It will be portrayed as “they hates wimminz, and don’t care it they are beat up”. Even though many of the Senators who objected did so on the basis of not losing very tailored local programs that are making a huge difference for women in their state.

      • I agree. We’ve passed the VAWA many, many times with no problem. I went to check out what has changed and found several amendments that can only be called anti-Republican. It’s as if somebody tacked on every hot issue that bothers Republicans in the hopes that they would vote against the VAWA and feed this political narrative about being woman haters. Amnesty for illegals? Check. More power for the federal government? Check. By the time they were finished, no self respecting R could vote for this bill. What’s really nasty about it, none of these amendments need to be written, not if your goal is to help women. The VAWA has been working just fine.

        • Yep. And the media is complicit, because it is being painted as “Look at those Republicans, refusing to renew a bill that has always been bipartisan! These new Republicans are so much more EXTREME than the old ones!” Bullshit.

If you don’t dig, you never know that b>this was not a “renewal”, this was a buttload of controversial add-ons. The media is openly helping the Dems with their whole “war on women” narrative by parroting that the R’s are somehow opposed to a measure that they had always supported in the past. And it’s a flat lie.

    • What? You mean Dems are playing fast and loose with women’s issues? Who’d have thunk it? Personally I can’t wait to vote against every single male Democrat on the ticket. Although to be fair, I’m voting against a fair share of GOP males, too. I’m writing in Hillary Clinton or Sarah Palin for any race that doesn’t have a female non-incumbent. Take that, mofos.

      • They do it all the time. I just had an interesting experience on facebook. A friend had a dumb photo up of Romney, touting that he has a car elevator, but vetoed elevators for the disabled in MA. EVIL SELFISH MAN! One commenter asked WHY on earth anyone would oppose this.

So I answered. I pointed out that the two municipalities in question were the wealthiest in MA, and the state of MA was in the red. The bill wanted the upgrade to elevators to be paid out of the state’s emergency rainy day fund. Romney felt that if those two wealthy municipalities wanted elevator upgrades, they could afford to pay for them out of their own surplus – not raid the state’s emergency fund. So he vetoed the bill.

Within 2 minutes my reply was deleted from the thread. I guess I got in the way of the “cold heartless republican who hates disabled people” narrative. Can’t have any truth about sensible, non-hateful motives messing up the narrative.

  7. Rambo Obama is a very Petty, petty, petty.little manchild. :(
