Open Thread: Own It

Graphic via Ace.

I know we have mega-buses to throw the veterans under (cough…Petraeus…cough), but here’s my personal keeper of peace, especially while raising teenagers. Happy Veterans Day to my gentle giant of 43+ years and all who have served, thank you, thank you, thank you !

Next time someone has a sob story about women not having equal pay, I’ll remember November 6, 2012.

Special thanks to your gentle giant.

Yep, they own it. And as they kept reminding us, Obama is the magic man who has already fixed things for women, gays, minorities, and is fixing the economy. In fact, the deficit and unemployment is going down as we speak. So they’re on the right path. I don’t want to hear any complaints that they need more, or that the Repubs in the house are stopping them. As ValJay said, it’s payback time and they don’t need congress to do what they’re going to do. No excuses. The entire country expects the economy to be like the end of Clinton’s last term in four years. We’re waiting.

But you know they’re going to blame it on Bush forever.

Thank you to my father, brother, uncles, niece and uncles and all veterans for their service.

Remember Jesse Jackson and other Obots slagging off Hillary for getting teary eyed but not crying for Katrina victims?

Nice to see Obama getting some grief. Not to worry … he’s still “likeable enough” (especially if there’s an Obamaphone on offer).

I showed my husband that Obamaphone lady video and he was absolutely floored.

      Where are those tears jr.

CBS: Just days after winning a handy reelection to his Chicago-area district, 17-year Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., D-Ill., has entered negotiations for a plea deal that would include his resignation from Congress and likely jail time.

    Happy veterans day!

LOL! Love that graphic. Today I heard a Obama girl complaining about the increased taxes she’s going to have to pay because of the loss of the child tax credit, capitol gains increase, and AMT. She’s also just lost her health insurance coverage. This old guy patted her on the head and said, “life is hard, but it’s a lot harder for stupid people.” Ha! So true. Those who expect sympathy for their buyer’s remorse can just suck it.

    • blowme0bama says:

PLEASE tell me that really happened!

      • yttik says:

It really happened! The old dude was a kid in Germany during WW2. The day before the election he told me that people who believe Obama will lose are racist. I was like,”What?! How so?” He said, “because you believe Americans today are smarter than the Germans were back then.” I snorted my coffee all over the place.

Anyway, the old dude assures me that this election is nothing like Nazi Germany. Whether or not we’ve just elected the antichrist however, is above his pay grade :)

also saw another column saying that in order for the economy to get back to where it should be the government needs to spend more—-and put our debtload at 23 trillion. Darn—-can’t remember where I read it. It was not Krugman but someone like him…..

  11. Votermom- there is a post in the drafts for you. Did not schedule it. Fire at will!

This is why the contemporary progressive movement is bankrupt: all it has a hate. It needs the GOP desperately in order to have a constant engine for rage and hate — instead of asking anything of “progressive” elected politicians. And the prog pols make sure the fire hose of hate stays focused on the right wing. I think it’s quite interesting that, for example, the progressive crew has spent its time since the election in a typical vomitous spew of smug invective instead of, you know, asking what the progressive pols are actually going to do.

Why aren’t the lefty bloggers wonking out about, say, the wonderful details of Obamacare? If it’s so great, and such a historical achievement, why not spill ink talking about all the ways it’s so super historic and wonderful? Something constructive, now that they’re the establishment?

It isn’t about building anything — it’s about whose football team wins. Well, they won. Own it.

Very insightful. Also scary, as yttik just reminded me of 1930s Germany

  13. Somebody says:

Denise thanks for sharing your gentle giant’s story and please thank him for his bravery and service to our country.

    Thanks to all our veterans.

  14. Karma says:

    Thanks for sharing, Denise.

And in this day and age, it’s brave with all the Obot internet trolls, but somehow with your gentle giant, I doubt they would come by the house. ;)

Happy Veterans Day. Thank you for your service. As an army brat, we loved to visit the base with dad, it filled us with pride, and was always interesting to watch even the smallest event.

Of course, there is nothing small about serving your country.
