Obama inauguration celebration to begin with official oath
President Obama began what will be a two-day celebration of the commencement of his second term Sunday, with a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, a visit to a historic African-American church and plans for a private swearing-in at the White House at noon.
Obama’s second term begins officially Sunday, although the public ceremony and inaugural address at the Capitol will wait until Monday.
I’ll be partying today, but that’s because I’ll be watching football with some friends. I won’t be celebrating today or tomorrow.
For the record, I understand and accept that Barack Hussein Obama is our president and Allah willing he will remain so for the next four years. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the legitimate leader of our federal government. But that doesn’t mean I think he won fair and square.
The past four years have been more of a disappointment for me than the eight years that preceded them. I never had any hope or faith in Obama or George Bush so they could not let me down. But I have lost hope and faith in the Democratic party, feminist groups and civil rights leaders as well as most of the blogosphere. You know what I’m talking about so I’m not gonna explain.
I haven’t felt like celebrating an inauguration day since 1997. That’s sixteen years. That’s longer than all my marriages combined.
