The Red Queen (stated here and quoted here):
Let’s get one thing straight, shall we.
Vandalism is not equal to, the same as, or even remotely like, violence. One is damage to property, inanimate objects that have no feelings what so ever. One is damage to people.
Graffiti, which may be the oldest form of political expression being that it is at least 2000 years old, is just that, political expression. Even when it’s just some kid, who is probably not old enough to vote, leaving his or her tag on a wall somewhere. I love graffiti. Graffiti is not violence.
Window smashing, while scary and loud and full of breaky glass, is not violence. It is property damage.
Property is theft, and pardon me while I quote the Marquis de Sade: “Tracing the right of property back to its source, one infallibly arrives at usurpation. However, theft is only punished because it violates the right of property; but this right is itself nothing in origin but theft.”
In order to get the elites to release their stranglehold on the rest of humanity, the elites must scared. Yes, scared. That’s an ugly truth, but it is truth none the less. And to scare them without committing acts of violence means that they must be afraid of something else, loss of property. And they should be afraid of that. They should be shaking in their boots, unable to sleep at night, haunted by the ghost of Jacob Marley in the wee small hours telling them to repent.
We know what violence looks like at the Occupy sites. It looks like cops pepper spraying young women behind a barricade. It looks like war vets getting skulls crushed and spleens lacerated by “non-lethal” weapons. It looks like douchebags rapists who rape women in tents. Violence causes actual harm to the bodies of actual people and is generally performed by those with power over those with less.
Vandalism is acts of destruction done to pieces of property done by those with less to property owned by those with more.
These things are not the same, and should never, ever be uttered in the same breath as if they were.
Shorter Red Queen:
“You have more than me. If you do not share with me I can destroy what you have.”
This is the logic of OWS. It is a theory of entitlement. It’s all dressed up in a claim of non-violence that defines “violence” only as causing direct physical harm to another.
Using fear to coerce someone into giving you a thing of value is called “extortion.”
California Penal Code:
518. Extortion is the obtaining of property from another, with his consent, or the obtaining of an official act of a public officer, induced by a wrongful use of force or fear, or under color of official right.
519. Fear, such as will constitute extortion, may be induced by a threat, either:
1. To do an unlawful injury to the person or property of the individual threatened or of a third person; or,
2. To accuse the individual threatened, or any relative of his, or member of his family, of any crime; or,
3. To expose, or to impute to him or them any deformity, disgrace or crime; or,
4. To expose any secret affecting him or them.520. Every person who extorts any money or other property from another, under circumstances not amounting to robbery or carjacking, by means of force, or any threat, such as is mentioned in Section 519, shall be punished by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 for two, three or four years.
What if someone tries to prevent the vandalism and gets injured? What if the fear of the angry mob triggers a fatal heart attack? If breaking windows is okay, what about burning empty cars and buildings? That’s just property destruction too, right?
If breaking windows and burning things doesn’t work, is it okay to set off a bomb if you don’t hurt anyone? What if the bomb hurts someone by accident? What if it blows up too soon and kills your girlfriend and your buddy? Isn’t that murder?
Imagine this:
The elites that own/control the banks and other businesses in Oakland decide the city is too unsafe and close or relocate all their offices, branches, factories, stores, etc. The Port of Oakland is closed and all the shipping is redirected elsewhere.
The people that worked in all those businesses are laid-off. Unemployment spikes. Smaller businesses are unable to stay open. The City of Oakland loses much of it’s tax base. So do the schools.
What’s your next move then, Red Queen?
BREAKING NEWS:
Tuberculosis Breaks Out At Occupy Atlanta’s Base
The home base for Occupy Atlanta has tested positive for tuberculosis.
The Fulton County Health Department confirmed Wednesday that residents at the homeless shelter where protesters have been occupying have contracted the drug-resistant disease. WGCL reports that a health department spokeswoman said there is a possibility that both Occupy Atlanta protesters and the homeless people in the shelter may still be at risk since tuberculosis is contracted through air contact.
