When Sean Hannity has the moral high ground . . .

Here’s the latest Maher spew they’re talking about:

Now, I’m not saying that sexism doesn’t exist and isn’t real. And we can’t, but we can’t throw around the word “sexist” just to stop people like me from pointing out that Michele Bachmann, now running second for the Republican presidential nomination, isn’t a dangerous nincompoop. And when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of “The Hills Have Eyes,” that’s not sexist. I’m saying it because it’s true, not because it’s true of a woman.

I’ve never been a fan of Sean Hannity. In fact my sig line used to be “The opposite of sanity is Hannity.” So it really disgusts me to have to agree with him.

And the question raised here is where are the women’s groups? Where are the advocates for special needs children?

From C4P:

Enough is enough… I don’t generally push boycotts, but if you’re paying to have HBO in your house every month, you’re also paying for Maher’s car and rewarding him for being a scumbag. Just keep that in mind.

The little one is kinda scary looking

  2. Lola-at-Large says:

I promise you this: Bill Maher has a tiny penis.

  3. Corrected says:

I’m sorry … but this “Sexism” charge is getting ridiculous just like the “Racism” charge.

Calling a Woman a dimwit, nincompoop is not “Sexism”.

Mayer and others treat Palin/Bachmann just like they treated Bush. Was it Sexism when the called Bush a “dimwit”/”nincompoop”???

Women can’t be dimwitted just like men???

And Hannity is being so hypocritical. I’ve heard him said worse about Pelosi, Hillary, Michelle etc (women who don’t share his political beliefs) he has even defended folks who have made disparaging statements about them. Hannity & other conservatives have no problem attacking Liberal Women but say anything about Conservative women it’s Sexism.

      Dr. Socks:

You know, I would be the first to say that Michele Bachmann is an absolute nutjob. She really is. The stuff she believes is just ridiculous.

But you know what isn’t ridiculous? The fact that she’s female. Really. Femaleness is not some grotesque trait to be mocked; it’s not some character flaw; it’s not some weirdo political stance that is ripe for ridicule. And if you can’t criticize a woman’s politics without mentally subjecting her to the porn-film/inflatable-doll/nutcracker treatment, then you’re a goddamn sexist twit.

    • gumsnapper says:

How do you justify Maher calling her family members “inbred weirdos.” Or is it okay to go after kids now and the mentally disabled?

    • WMCB says:

Really? Hannity has been rude and insulting at times, and is always hyper-partisan, I’ll give you that. But did he ever express a desire to fuck Pelosi angrily, and give it to her hard?

Did he have guests on his show saying they wished certain lawmakers “were all dead”?

Did he joke about Democratic women getting the “Mom I’d Like To Fuck” vote? He called them “twats”? When?

Point me to one thing that Hannity has ever said about a Democratic woman that attacked her with violent sexual imagery. One.

      I’m waiting.

      • DeniseVB says:

Great point wmcb! Also, to be funny, doesn’t comedy have to contain a nugget of truth?

        • WMCB says:

I really love how the Obot trolls come running in handwringing and so *deeply concerned* about the entirely-too-prevalent misuse and abuse of “victim status” when their guys are doing real verbal abuse.

Fucking dickwads. And transparent dickwads at that.

        • Valhalla says:

hmmm, yes, where were all these trolls back in 2008? Too busy calling everyone r*cist, no doubt.

There’s lots of kinds of sexism. Aside from the blatant type Maher identifies, there’s also going moreall apeshit dickhead when it’s a woman than when it’s a man. Or going apeshit at all when it’s a woman and not when it’s a man. So even if Maher was somehow using some sort of gender-neutral language, it certainly doesn’t let him off the hook. I haven’t heard him obsessing about Pawlenty, for instance, and I don’t remember him frothing at the mouth and hurling unfunny insults at Huckabee in ’08.

      • JeanLouise says:

I don’t watch Hannity so I don’t know what he’s said in particular but men and women on the right talked about Hillary like she was a rabid dog for two decades. Some of it was just mean but a whole lot of it was sexist.

I have no desire to defend Maher and his circus of boyz but it’s just denial to claim that the right haven’t done the same.

I can’t remember who it was but there was a recent comment made by a man on Fox that he’d like to see Bachmann and Palin in a jello wrestling match. That was on a publicly broadcast “news” show. At least, Maher is on cable.

        • sandress says:

And it isn’t just what people say. It’s the fact that women are held to a different standard than their male peers. That REALLY IS enough to be sexist. I promise. I don’t care who the fuck does it.

    • Lola-at-Large says:

Trooooollin’…on a Tuesday afternoon… Sing it with me folks!

    • Three Wickets says:

Maher, Sullivan, Matthews, Olbermann, and on and on to the late night comedy shows and snickers. Sexist boys on parade, juvenile and pathetic. Obama brings it out in them.

  4. gumsnapper says:

Maher and a guest also said on his show that they wanted to “angry f**k” Bachmann. (Never heard the expression before, sounds like violent sex or rape.) Gee, what a lovely human being Maher is. I wouldn’t be surprised if HBO received some angry emails from customers. Though in today’s culture where misogyny is acceptable, who knows?

  5. angienc says:

C4P is 3 years too late. I cut off HBO back in ’08 specifically because of that SEXIST, misogynistic pig Bill Maher.

    • myiq2xu says:

Maher isn’t funny, he just says outrageous stuff that makes people laugh in embarrassment. He’s a shock jock

      • Mimi says:

And not even a very good one. And he is butt ugly. Inside and out. Is he still warbling “new rule” like a seven year old loosing at Monopoly?

    • yttik says:

I did the same, angienc. No HBO in this house for a couple of years now.

  6. djmm says:

It is a sad day when I am forced to agree with Mr. Hannity, but I do. People are free to call any politician stupid (thank goodness and The Constitution), but Mr. Maher’s language is vile.

  7. votermom says:

I remember back in 2008 when I was an Edwards supporter being so happy that he was getting support from Maher. That should have been my flipping clue-by-four right there.

    • DeniseVB says:

LOL votermom, I’ve been on the Edwards apology tour since 2008.

I spent $250 on two tickets (for me and college kid) to see Maher’s Broadway show, which was very funny and basically just attacked the politicians-who-screw-us in general. My daughter, the anarchist, loved it too. (She’s currently a new conservative and business owner, and me, a happy independent).

      • 1539days says:

I watched Maher on and off until the post 9-11 ABC “Politically Correct” episodes. I didn’t exactly stop watching because he said the hijackers were brave, but I came away with two thoughts. First, he backtracked that statement which confirmed his utter cowardice. Plus, the very thought revealved his misunderstanding of religious devotion compared to fanaticism. He had more positive shit to say about Mohammed Atta than any women who has run for president.

“Politically Incorrect” started as his schtick, the libertarian guy who didn’t beleive in social conformity. Ironically, he started to gain an insider status that required him to adhere to leftist social conformity that requires the hatred of all things Republican. Of course, the rampant misogyny is his special recipe.

        • Lola-at-Large says:

It has been for a while, too. I remember watching him circa 1995 and him trying to make the argument that there was a “feminization of America” going on. I stopped watching then. Because first, there’s not a damn thing wrong with feminizing America. And second, he was dead wrong. It wasn’t happening and it’s still not happening. People like him make me wish for a Bachmann win just to see his head explode. And I don’t mean the little one.

  8. ralphb says:

Size Matters And you probably wondered what economists did all day. 😉

Penile length alone can explain over 15% of the between-country variation in 1985 GDP.

Startlingly the male organ coefficients are statistically significant at the 1% level in all model specifications.

Maybe this could help explain why everything is so “unexpected” to them.

  9. yttik says:

It’s been a few years and I still can’t believe that these people have managed to hand the moral high ground over to people like Sean Hannity. It’s mind boggling.

I remember back when Hillary was campaigning and I finally had to switch to Fox news because the misogynists were out in full force on MSNBC, CNN, HBO, etc. To this day I think they were the only channel to treat her with anything close to fairness, to actually have women on their shows, and to acknowledge the sexism. It’s pretty awful to have to admit, but what can I say? They certainly weren’t the ones telling people to take Hillary in a room and only they come out or calling a woman a mashed up bad of meat with lipstick on it.

    • JeanLouise says:

They were doing plenty of that until they became more afraid of the black guy than they were of the white woman.

      • 1539days says:

Isn’t that like what Rev. Pfleiger said?

        • JeanLouise says:

I don’t know. Pflegar’s an asshole, too. I only had to listen to him for two minutes to figure that out. That doesn’t mean that everything he says is crap. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile.
