Fuck ’em and the donkey they rode in on

I love a good rant, and Riverdaughter has posted a couple of doozies the past two days. Real stream-of-consciousness spleen venting. Awesome.

Thursday: The Ass in the Room

Friday: Messaging

We’re seeing a lot of effort lately by Dick and the Dickocrats to convince progressives to return to their veal pens. The basic message is the same one we’ve been hearing for a while now – ZOMG! The Republicans are crazy like Charles Manson, Jeffery Dahmer and Norman Bates only worse! If we don’t stop them they will kill us and turn us into cat food!

Fuck that.

Why should I support a party that doesn’t support me?

Back in 2008 my state (California) moved its primary from June to SuperDuper Tuesday so we could have a say in picking the nominees. We spent millions of dollars holding a special primary election. Hillary won here by 10 points.

California has 10% of the Electoral College votes – 1/5 of the number needed to win. We sent 553 delegates to the 2008 DNC convention. That is over 12% of the total number of delegates. 232 were pledged delegates committed to Hillary.

How many California delegates voted for Hillary at the convention?

They skipped over us during the roll call vote because our delegation refused to switch their votes to Obama and we would have given Hillary the lead, at least temporarily.

49 other states held primaries and/or caucuses. All the big states except Illinois voted for Hillary. Critical swing states like Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania voted for Hillary. Most of those were decisive victories, ten points or more.

Obama not only had a huge money advantage but the media kept insisting he was the inevitable winner – “Hillary can’t catch him” they claimed. But the voters didn’t listen, they voted for Hillary anyway.

Hillary won West Virginia by 41 points – Obama was closer to zero than he was to her. The day after the West Virgina primary their two Democratic senators, Robert Byrd and Jay Rockefeller, endorsed Obama.

I don’t give a fuck what the Democratic establishment wanted – the voters wanted Hillary. Despite everything she still won, fair and square. But they gave Obama the nomination anyway.

I’ve supported losing candidates before. While I don’t enjoy losing that’s just part of life – better luck next time. But when you and your candidate snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and “your” party takes it from you and gives it to the guy you beat, that’s unforgivable.

I owe the Democrats NOTHING

Pelosi, the phony liberal from San Francisco stabbed the liberal base, again and again. She pushed all the liberals to vote right wing to support the dick. I have nothing but contempt for Pelosi. She’s responsible for the debacle of the Democrats since 2006, such as passing TARP, Obamacare, the Bush tax cuts in 2010, and most of all the election of the dick.

What was the thinking behind selecting Joe Biden as V.P. ? Elder statesman to guide the young grasshopper? How’s that working out?

Wish Hillary would have stayed in the Senate, I miss her voice.

and guess what..they still want her.now more then ever 🙂

Dick sez if it wasn’t for divided government he could spend more time on vacation.

The GOP hasn’t even been in power a whole year yet!

    • Dario says:

I wished he did take that vacation and let the Republicans come up with something that they can pass in both houses without his meddling. I have no problem with that.

    • angienc says:

Here’s an idea, Dick. Go on vacation & let Bill Clinton run the place, just like you did at that press conference last December when a Christmas party was more important than answering questions as to why a DEMOCRAT POTUS was endorsing supply-side economics.

  5. Lola-at-Large says:

Ahhh, I remember thereisnospoon. Back in spring 2008, he and I got into a fight over abortion, whether or not it was important in looking at the 2 candidates in the primary battle. He didn’t seem to think it mattered. In fact, he told me not to worry about it because I could always fly to Canada if I needed an abortion. He said it was more important to–get this–bring down housing prices so that the young could get their hands on what the boomers had (in my estimation earned, in his estimation, stole). The problem was old people and all that hoarding and Obama was going to put an end to that. Ha!

Well, it’s 2011 now and he was right. I’m not worried about abortion anymore, and I won’t need to go to Canada because I’m fucking responsible enough to make sure I will never need an abortion. I wonder what that makes me in his eyes now?

    • Dario says:

By the time the dick is done, house prices will be lower, but the young will be making minimum wage for years to come, so it won’t matter. They still won’t be able to buy the cheap houses.

    • Lola-at-Large says:

      1st Vice Chair: David Atkins

Now we know who he is.

    • Lola-at-Large says:

Wow, I totally get his housing comments now. He apparently owns a construction company. I looked it up.

      • Dario says:

The construction business has been in an economic hole, and will be digging, not for houses, but for a deeper hole.
        Stupid is as stupid does.

Legislation Would Enable Tens of Thousands of Families in Danger of Foreclosure to Refinance their Mortgages

January 30, 2008 — Washington, DC – In response to the escalating housing crisis that is devastating communities, shaking our economy, and putting the financial security of millions of families at risk, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton introduced the Mortgage Refinancing Initiative of 2008 which would provide an opportunity for at-risk households to refinance unworkable mortgages. Newly released data shows that 1.3 million households received foreclosure notices last year. Mounting foreclosures are contributing to the weakness in house prices, and therefore even families who are not at risk of losing their homes are affected. The decline in home prices has already cost families an estimated $1.6 trillion.

        • Lola-at-Large says:

Oh, agreed that his rhetoric works against his own self-interest, without a doubt. In that way, the current Democrats are the Republicans of 2003. And I hate them just as much.

    • Mary says:

The intriguing question about Atkins, for me, is—–did Digby voluntarily ask him to join her (cuz her commenters were kicking her koolaid ass), or……..did the powers-that-be (as in A-list in crowd Obama ass kissers) notice her commenters have left the fold angrily, and sent Atkins over there to “clean up the mess” ?

Her commenters do NOT like him. They MOCK him, a lot.

      Why bring him on, Digby?

      • Lola-at-Large says:

She had to agree. That’s the only way it works. She had to add him as a contributor. If she was pressured into, then she is a big fat failure just like the current president. I would NEVER allow anyone to tell me who I can and can’t add to my blog. She’s been slowly selling out since she decided to reveal who she really was.

        • WMCB says:

Digby once again got threatened with ostracism by the tribe if she didn’t add him. I have no doubt whatsoever that the WH is sending out people to pressure all the liberal blogs to get in line for 2012.

She’s a chickenshit. An utter lickspittle. She doesn’t want to have to sit at the table with the uncool kids. Oh, she’ll whine and wring her hands and offer up some mild protestations that she still holds her principles, and is merely expanding her blog to be more inclusive, but the fact is she’s a gormless sniveling contemptible worm, crawling and cringing to the influential boyz, and making excuses for the tribe who by her own admission threatened and bullied her and sent her violent emails in 2008. So that she keeps her paltry influence and status.

        • Mary says:

I’m glad you said that out loud.

I’m convinced that the firing of Cenk on MSNBC (who I don’t watch), after Cenk said Griffin said the WH “didn’t like his tone,” (meaning any criticism of Obama et al) was a very careful placement of Al Sharpton in his spot for the campaign.

You can’t convince me otherwise. 🙂

  6. WMCB says:

I remember ThereIsNoSpoon from the Big Cheeto. He was a vicious asshole then, making whatever argument would favor Obama, and when completely blown out of the water on facts, he would blithely shift to a different subject.

He was also one who routinely downrated perfectly civil (but factually damaging to Obama) comments by Hillary supporters until the auto-ban/auto-hide kicked in. He’s a fucking tyrant, a bullying silencer of dissenting opinion, even if it’s majority opinion. Just like the rest of the current Democratic Party and their media sycophants.

Maya Angelou once said “When they show you who they are, believe them.” I add to that, for myself personally, “Once they show you who they are, never forget it.” The online Left and the Democratic Party showed me who they were in 2008. And I will never, ever forget. And I will never, in any way whatsoever, want to put power in the hands of those sick people – and I don’t care if they came out tomorrow with my dream platform.

They showed me who they are. Putting the nice “we only want to do good things” mask back on isn’t going to change that.

  7. Mary says:

OT: Here’s a surprise (was for me, anyway):

From Naked Capitalism, Yves herself, re all the debt ceiling negotiations:

“But this ‘all in’ strategy is by design. Obama has long wanted entitlement “reform,” as in gutting. Paul Jay of Real News Network pointed out tome today that Obama told conservatives at a dinner hosted by George Will in the FIRST week of his inauguration that he planned to turn to it once he got the economy in better shape.”

Blow me away. Even then, it’s what he wanted.

    • SWPAnnA says:

please, O is such a seat-of-the-pants, NEVER worked out a policy to speak of, exploitive Machiavellian that any resemblance to planning is purely opportunistic on his Crest-Hopping part

  8. yttik says:

    “I owe the Democrats NOTHING”

LOL, you’re too kind myiq. I owe the Dems a great deal. In fact, I’ve made a list and it’s just about payback time.

    • Lola-at-Large says:

Ha! Love it. Me too. I’m making a list, checking it twice, going into the voting booth with a roll of the dice. ABO.
