Hello and Goodbye!

Brett Pill

Pill homers for the San Francisco Giants in his first big-league at-bat

Giants first baseman Brett Pill just homered in his first big-league at-bat, on the second pitch he saw and on his first swing, against Padres left-hander Wade LeBlanc.

Pill, who turns 27 on Friday, lined an 0-1 pitch down the left-field line. The ball hit the facing of a balcony on the Western Metal Supply Company building.

According to baseballalmanac.com, Pill is the first Giant to homer in his first big-league at-bat since Will Clark, on April 8, 1986, against Nolan Ryan in the Astrodome.

I remember when Clark hit that homer. It was a 1-1 pitch.

Giants are 7 games out of first and Arizona is beating Colorado 3-1 in the 8th.

  2. Good he didn’t hit it to right, it would have ended up in the bottom of the bay.

Baseball is such a great game!

Hitting a home run on your first big league swing is something I’ve never of before!
