Sarah Palin is Soooooo Stoopid!!1!!

Hot Air:

We all remember Abraham Lincoln as the leader who saved our Union. Founder of the Republican Party.

Er, not quite. Lincoln wasn’t even the GOP’s first Presidential nominee; the first Republican nominee was John C. Fremont in 1856. As the Independence Hall Association recalls, the actual founders of the Republican Party are “Northern leaders such as Horace Greeley, Salmon Chase and Charles Sumner.” Lincoln joined early, as did other anti-slavery Whigs whose party was unraveling at the time, and Lincoln came in second for the 1856 vice-presidential nomination, but he was not a founder of the party. By the time he became a factor in the GOP, the party had already taken a majority in the House of Representatives (1855); it also carried 11 states and 114 electoral votes in the 1856 election that sent Democrat James Buchanan to the White House.

Next time Obama wants to lecture Republicans on their own history, maybe he should take the time to learn it first.

Oh wait, Obama said that?

Never mind.

If Obama said it must be true. It’s the historical record, written by lying white folks, that is wrong.
In fact Obama can prove it is right because Obama’s grandparents met at the rally where Lincoln founded the Republican party.

  2. DandyTiger says:

One of the obvious racist dog whistle codes that the evil Republicans, er, sorry, the Confederate party, use is that “Obama is wrong” about something. How dare you people.

    • votermom says:

      *scribbles in code book*

    • And also, in case it wasn’t clear already, all people, all of them, from the south are evil racists. Just so you know.

    • WMCB says:

I have my racist dogwhistle decoder ring right here, buddy, and it says that accusing Obama of an embarrassing “gaffe” is a reference to gaff hooks, used on fish, and is a secret unconscious racist way to dehumanize and equate him with a catfish. And we all know that “Catfish” was a common nickname of servile black men in the segregated south.

Thus to say Obama has made a gaffe is the equivalent of saying he is a po’ old colored man who needs to get out of that white oval office and go fishin’ like he’s supposed to.

See how that works? It’s like the Kevin Bacon game, but with guilt and recriminations.

  3. WTF is up with the tie colors of the speaker and the VP? Some sort of dog whistle I’m sure. I’ve misplaced my dog whistle decoder ring, so I’m not sure.

Kevin DuJan said with the matching ties they all looked like an ’80s girl group, the Marvelettes or something.

  4. propertius says:

We are, after all, talking about a man who said:

    1) there are 57 states in the union
    2) Afghans speak Arabic

by those standards, this doesn’t even count as a gaffe 😉
