Michelle Obama went shopping at Target today. Pushed her own cart ! Only one who recognized her was the cashier! Oh, and the AP photographer 😉

Too funny! I stole this and posted it at Uppity’s, hope you don’t mind!

    • Mary says:

Nobody noticed all those Secret Service agents talking into their wristwatches, roaming the aisles of Target, or the AP photographer following her around?

Did she wear her $500 tennis shoes or her $42,000 diamond bracelet? (snort)

Latest fundraising email from Obama in my inbox (they are coming every other day now)

    Friend —

I’m the national finance director here at OFA.

I know we’ve been sending you a lot of email lately. That’s because we’re staring down a critical fundraising deadline tomorrow at midnight.

You know what that means for your inbox, but let me give you a sense of what that looks like around here.

The staff and I are working around the clock, powered by too much coffee. It’s been way too long since we called our moms. And we’ve all had more pizza and bad takeout in the past few weeks than anyone should have in a year.

No one’s complaining; that’s what we signed up for. And we’re not doing this just because it’s our job to make sure the campaign has the resources it needs. We’re doing this because it’s part of what defines this movement.

From the beginning, we’ve refused to take money from D.C. lobbyists and corporate special interests. Our operation is fueled by people inspiring each other to take ownership of this campaign.

That’s why we’ve been emailing this week, and that’s why I’m obligated to remind you once more that the deadline is coming up in a matter of hours.

If you’re able to, will you chip in just $3 today?

They are trotting that old lie out again? Seriously? The myth of the pure Obama, who never took a dime from Wall Street or any monied interests at all, but struggled valiantly to the top on nothing but college kids’ lunch money? Seriously???? That’s what you’re going with? That tired old crap that not even the Obots believe anymore?

Oh, wait, there’s more. I do love the part where I am supposed to feel sorry for the poor poor staffers.

Oh, the poor babies. People are out here unemployed, with no insurance, and their kid’s school is a sucking hole of despair. But…but….but….

Obama’s staff hasn’t called their mom. Their mom, people. Jesus, their mom. *sob sob*

And…and… they have to eat pizza and takeout. Oh, the humanity!! Did I mention how many Americans are now on foodstamps? No? Well consider it mentioned.

Anyway, all things considered here’s my suggestion, fuckface: Call your mom. She’s probably a nice lady. Then, if you are tired of pizza, call your Plastic Jesus and have him send you over some of that tasty Wagyu beef.

Obama has been a disaster for civil liberties:

Civil libertarians have long had a dysfunctional relationship with the Democratic Party, which treats them as a captive voting bloc with nowhere else to turn in elections. Not even this history, however, prepared civil libertarians for Obama. After the George W. Bush years, they were ready to fight to regain ground lost after Sept. 11. Historically, this country has tended to correct periods of heightened police powers with a pendulum swing back toward greater individual rights. Many were questioning the extreme measures taken by the Bush administration, especially after the disclosure of abuses and illegalities. Candidate Obama capitalized on this swing and portrayed himself as the champion of civil liberties.

However, President Obama not only retained the controversial Bush policies, he expanded on them. The earliest, and most startling, move came quickly. Soon after his election, various military and political figures reported that Obama reportedly promised Bush officials in private that no one would be investigated or prosecuted for torture. In his first year, Obama made good on that promise, announcing that no CIA employee would be prosecuted for torture. Later, his administration refused to prosecute any of the Bush officials responsible for ordering or justifying the program and embraced the “just following orders” defense for other officials, the very defense rejected by the United States at the Nuremberg trials after World War II.

Apple’s going to come out with their iPhone 5 in a few days. Apparently lots of people want it:

The study found that more than half of BlackBerry users polled plan to switch to the iPhone 5, and some 27 percent of Android owners are willing to switch as well, alongside 51 percent of current iPhone users. If these figures prove to be true, it could be the most successful phone launch for Apple to date.

Oh yea. {{ does a dance }}. I make apps for these things, so I may be a little biased. 🙂

This was my first 45. My uncle sent it to me. I lived in the projects in a mid-sized midwestern city. I don’t know what he was thinking…

        LOL. My kind of uncle.

Sounds like my dad…lol. He used to mock the song to my friends with a whole ‘gag me with a chainsaw’ thing while being the designated taxi driver. Of course, in his best valley girl accent.

Obama Charts a New Route to Re-election

WASHINGTON — With his support among blue-collar white voters far weaker than among white-collar independents, President Obama is charting an alternative course to re-election should he be unable to win Ohio and other industrial states traditionally essential to Democratic presidential victories.

Without conceding ground anywhere, Mr. Obama is fighting hard for Southern and Rocky Mountain states he won in 2008, and some he did not, in calculating how to assemble the necessary 270 electoral votes. He is seeking to prove that those victories on formerly Republican turf were not flukes but the start of a trend that will make Democrats competitive there for years.
“There are a lot of ways for us to get to 270, and it’s not just the traditional map,” said David Axelrod, Mr. Obama’s chief strategist. “That’s why we’re laying the groundwork across the country to compete on the widest possible playing field next year.”

I don’t think “we’re moving towards”; I think we’re already there, but it’s a modern system, not anything like people experienced in Germany. Let’s say it’s a mutated version that uses the latest technology to get the job done.

Wait, Is Malaise French for “Soft”?

    Obama speaking in Orlando:

“This is a great great country that had gotten a little soft and we didn’t have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades,” Mr. Obama said in response to a question about the country’s economic future. “We need to get back on track.”

Where oh where could we have left out competitive edge? Asshat! Seriously, in 2008 we elected a community organizer, state senator, college instructor first term senator over a guy who spent five years in a Vietnamese prison. And now he’s lecturing us about how America’s gone “soft”? Really?
