They came, they saw, they put it out

Occupy Vancouver built a sacred/forbidden fire in a 55 gallon barrel. Vancouver FD and PD entered the park, moved protesters out of the way, put out the fire and took the barrel. The protesters were left weeping, wailing and gnashing their teeth.

No tear gas, no batons, no arrests. Lots of drama, very little trauma. They should make a reality television show with this stuff. They could get that annoying guy from American Idol to host.

aren’t these people camped next to an art museum? How much possible damage could have been done?

I guess art is only for the 1% in their minds, so they probably would be OK with destroying art, burning books. I wouldn’t be surprised if that were next.

If anyone in OWS had any capacity, well, for anything, they could learn something here:

Just curious, where are all the OWS efforts to help the poor and homeless and hungry. And those in prison. If they’re for helping, why aren’t they helping? I understand marching and yelling we won’t go to war, oh wait, they’re not doing that. But along with that sort of stuff in the 60’s, there were lots of people that really put their soul into helping those in need. Just wondering.

Now this is pretty stupid, but then you gotta understand First Nations in the context of Canada to really understand what’s going on. First Nations is the collection of native tribes in Canada, their sort of tribal union, so to speak. It’s very new-agy and pretty silly, and they really do believe these fires are sacred, just like Catholics really think the water is holy. I think they’re both pretty silly, along with a whole bunch of other nutty religious believers and their practices, but to each their own, as long as they follow the law. These folks clearly didn’t, and they didn’t get their four-day fire (which is how long a FN sacred fire is supposed to last) because of poor planning, not because the police/FD were assholes.

First Nations in Canada is what white progressive folks in Canada use to sooth the burns of their own privilege, ftr.
