Occupy TDS

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Okay, it looks like Operation Shut Down Wall Street is just another Occupy Epic Fail. The Klown is disappointed. He stayed up all night hoping for some police brutality the revolution would destroy the bourgeoisie capitalists.

Check out this video from The Daily Show. Samantha Bee examines class divisions in Occupy Wall Street’s New York City encampment.

This is an open thread. The Klown will return after he sobers up gets some sleep.

OT: I heard that Perry challenged Pelosi to a debate. That would be fun to watch.

  2. yttik says:

Stupidity is a renewable resource and quite sustainable. We should have something new to laugh about quite soon.

  3. Mary says:

But but but—–RD’s there. She says they DID shut it down, and they’re all celebrating now.

    (cough cough)

    • yttik says:

The cool kids posted something revealing the other day, about how their status as the middle class was being threatened. I found that kind of revealing because that’s the impression I get of the OWSies, it’s all about being pissed off about the possibility of losing their class status and having to join the rest of masses.

      • Mary says:

Yep. The Stewart video shows that even at OWS, there are “classes” and divisions, and we all know that those in the uppers will fight to stay in the uppers—-even if that’s just perception.

I laughed out loud when the guy was asked if any of the people from “down there” ever had good ideas. You could see his arrogance even as he was suggesting that every now and then, they did.

        Ugh.

      • parentofed says:

But I thought they said Americans need to lower our standard of living in order to Save the Earth.

    • elliesmom says:

I’m not volunteering to be the one to tell her that NYSE is fully functioning. I’ve already disillusioned someone else this morning.

      • Mary says:

After the way she treated you, ellie, I’m not sure I’d ever post there again. You are brave—I’ll give you that. 🙂

The cops appear to have everyone corralled at Zucchini Park.

I guess they’re waiting for Phase II – Invade the Subways!

This looks fun and all, but I have a job fair to occupy this afternoon, so I need to prepare. Will check in as I can. Enjoy!

    • Lola-at-Large says:

FYI: Just had the most fantastic interview at the job fair. There’s a good chance I’ll be teaching two or three classes next term, when I was only hoping for one! Will know for sure in the next two weeks. Woohoo!

  7. kc says:

for the shooter?? That is just stupid.

This Revolution should not be televised. It is boring!

    Occupy tedious.

  14. parentofed says:

The squatters and activists keep blathering about Nov 17 as an important Marxist symbol. Odd that this whole thing started with Van Jones & pals Day of Rage on Sept 17.

Maybe they’re wrong on their symbols – it’s 17 that matters.

  15. HELENK says:

democrats and the owies maybe not a match made in heaven

now owies say they are not going to shut down subways. I hope they have enough sense not to shut them down.
POed commuters are not a pretty sight, they tend to get testy.

    • yttik says:

She’s gotten half a dozen apologies from the mayor and city council, but really nobody did anything wrong. I saw the video, she happened to be standing in front of a bunch of anarchists who were throwing garbage at the cops. Unfortunately for her, when the cops sprayed pepper spray, she was in front of them all.

      • HELENK says:

my thing was why would she get off the bus and join them? She is a long time activist. This will be used to claim police brutality

  18. HELENK says:

Mayor Bloomberg: Occupy Wall St has caused “minimal disruption” to the city. #OWS #n17

    • HELENK says:

Police overtime tab for #OWS now at $8M, NYPD says.
      33 minutes ago via TweetDeck

maybe it depends on your point of view

If you are a taxpaying business that is losing money due to owies, it is a little more than a minimal disruption

If you are a taxpaying New Yorker and you see $8 million of your money wasted because of this minimal disruption you might not feel the same
