Dem strategist says new Romney ad plays race card, echoes Rev. Wright

Democratic strategist Tad Devine, an adviser to the Al Gore and John Kerry presidential campaigns, accused Mitt Romney’s campaign of invoking the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright in a recent ad.

Devine said Wednesday that he was “shocked” to see what he believed was imagery of an African-American church in an ad released Tuesday by Romney’s campaign team and airing in New Hampshire. The ad, Romney’s first of the campaign, is “clearly an attempt to bring back Rev. Wright and race,” Devine tweeted.

In the ad, a series of images including those of a foreclosed home and empty businesses flash by as text criticizes President Obama’s economic record. But at two points, the imagery cuts to well-dressed African-American women walking down a large hallway, and pans over a predominantly black audience.

“It appears to be a congregation of African-American people,” Devine told The Hill. “In the first scene there are no white people at all, in the second … it is all African Americans except possibly one person, [whose race] you can’t really tell.”

Devine said he believes these images were selected intentionally to invoke race and the controversy involving Wright, the president’s former pastor.

How did you do? Did you blink and miss it?

  1. I’ve got to work hard and train myself to see these things. I just can’t seem to spot them. Maybe one day I can learn to be full of hate and see hate everywhere I look like the DNC wants me to.

I stopped reading at …….advisor to Al Gore and John Kerry. 😉

Though found “echoes Rev Wright” amusing. I don’t think Romney attended his church for 20 years like Obama + marry +baptize his children. What does that make Obama?

    • Susan says:

Romney is deeply involved in his religion and has held very high positions in the organization. I assure you that all five of Romney’s children have been baptized as Mormons.

    Criticizing Obama isn’t racist anymore?

    That was my guess.

  4. yttik says:

Sheesh! People with that much of an obsession with racism must have a guilty conscience or something. They’re projecting their own feelings onto everybody else. Apparently racism is all they ever think about.

  5. guest says:

Racism! well, it will backfire royally if Obama people pursue this strategy. It is not to say they will not try it. The people in the middle are hungry and starving for ideas and solutions.

Listen to the master tell it like it is.

This is funny ! Maybe the Pumas can start an “I told ya so” campaign? Not all of us voted for Teh Won.

In 2004, after W was re-elected, despair was thick around us. A web site sprang up called ” I’m Sorry”

Thousands of YOUTUBE personal apologies to the world for America re-electing him. I sat and read and watched for hours…
      It was very cathartic.
I want to see that kind of outpouring for regret and apologies before I will even consider forgiving the majority for this huge mistake.
They need to admit the truth to themselves and to us who looked at his character and said NO THANKS.

He was elected for his skin color. Those voters are racists. That’s where I spot the Racism

  7. HELENK says:

they have played the racism card so much , it is to the point that if you have been called racist in the last 4 years, it means

you have a brain and know how to use it.
    you do not buy BS
you love your country and want what is best for it
    you vote on issues
you stand up for your beliefs

  8. HELENK says:

If 3 seconds exposure to Jeremiah Wright causes racism, what does 20 years exposure to him cause? http://shar.es/oGGEL

I was gone a week, but I guess I didn’t miss anything. Was just wondering how the Cain Smears were going down…..nothing?

I must admit, the Cain Campaign handled their responses poorly and probably what’s sinking him 😦 He’s still on my ABO list.
