Julianne Moore looks sorta kinda like Palin from the side standing still. She sounds absolutely nothing like her. I’m pretty sure her research consisted of watching Tina Fey’s impression on SNL. It makes sense, considering her most recent role in recurring on 30 Rock.

It amazes me that someone who considers herself an actor comes away not having any different opinion of her subject. Then again, she hasn’t made a movie I’ve heard of in a decade. I think the only thing I’ve even seen with Moore in it was 1993’s The Fugitive.

    • elliesmom says:

She was so memorable in “The Fugitive” that after watching it several times, I had forgotten she was in it or maybe never noticed in the first place. I went to imdb to see what role she played when I read your comment. While they liked the movie, my Lesbian buddies ripped her performance in :The Kids Are All Right” to shreds. She’s not Meryl Streep, for sure. I’m looking forward to seeing “The Iron Lady”.

It looks like Palin has “saved or created” more jobs than President Obama. Now she’s creating an economic stimulous for Hollywood.

This is all I have right now. Use it as an open thread. I’ll post something else in a couple hours.

Oh, oh …. Buttgate ? Slow news day, so we report on overheard telephone conversations?

I clicked on the wrong link this morning and read all this crap about the Crawdad hole. Good grief!

Oh well, I think I’d rather be Clueless at the Crawdad Hole, then face down in a pitcher of blue koolaid.

  6. catarina says:

That is one hell of a Tina Fey imitation.
I’ll wait for a free livestream, thank you.

Hannibal Lecter should have eaten Juliana’s brain while he had the chance.

  7. It didn’t help my confidence in her performance when Julianne Moore said after doing her homework that her opinion of Palin hasn’t changed. I understand political differences, but after you study a person’s life and background, how could your opinion not change? That sounds like she’s sucking up to her Palin hating friends. Given that, I fully expect a cartoon performance. How could it be otherwise.

    • DeniseVB says:

I’m sure Ms. Moore’s research was strictly from PDS sources. A truly dedicated actor would spend a great deal of time with a living character they were portraying. Or at least read their books 😉

      • DandyTiger says:

Good point. I mean we have a historical figure who was a major game changer in politics, and still is. Whether you like her politics or not, she matters. And if you want to dig into what that’s about and what she’s about, you’d study and you’d talk to her. Duh.

  8. Any bets on the plot of the show acting as if Palin’s candidacy hurt McCain in the end vs. only helped. That is, they’ll rewrite history and pretend it wasn’t the well timed wall street/bank meltdown that changed the game. In other words, it will be strictly a political hit piece. Don’t know, just making a wild guess.

    • DandyTiger says:

I’d bet this was created and designed to be a political hit peace, timed just right, in case Palin was going to be in the race. Just knowing how long these sorts of projects take, that’s be a good guess I think.

Was cleaning up in my Bookmarks and came across this picture [Obama’s Inaugural Address] shown in GigaPan.
    (h/t Jeralyn)

Both immensely fascinating … and kind of creepy. Guess the Homeland Security people and such must love it, as there’s nowhere to hide!

Interesting the media misplaces Bo the dog so easliy….

Here he is in a Hawaii story

and just yesterday he was in a DC area pet store for a photo op with Obama?

    • Mary says:

Maybe they flew him over in his own private plane again. (snort)

This “family vacation in Hawaii” is costing the American taxpayers around $4 million. What’s another plane ride?

    • cj says:

Poor Bo. I’m afraid he’s just another pedigreed prop for the “All American Obama Family” photo ops. Hope someone on the WH staff loves him. 😦

      • elliesmom says:

I’m sure there’s someone there who does. When I was in college, I spent a summer as a nanny. The family had a dog who had been neglected. Not mistreated – just not given much love and affection. When I was leaving at the end of the summer, she jumped into my car and wouldn’t budge. She ended up coming home with me. My mom fell in love with her immediately. While she was glad to see me when I cam home for school vacations, she was happy to be my mom’s “precious little idiot”. While the family kept in touch with me, they never once asked about their dog. The sad thing for Bo will be leaving the White House and who ever is his real caretaker. Maybe he’ll get “left behind”.

        • WMCB says:

I really hope that whoever his real caretaker is gets to keep him.

        • cj says:

Aww, that’s so sweet., I hope it turns out as well for Bo. I don’t think I could live my life without a dog in it. We love them, but they love us back a 1000 time more.

TC hit a literary high point today when RD posted a video myiq posted where Occupy made Newt look good. Then came the tirade about how Newt was sexually unattractive.

Newt? Totally UN-f#$^able. He’s out of shape, packing too many Georgia barbeques and sweet ass teas. He’s got a double chin, jowls and his piggy little eyes. All of his facial features look like they have been scrunched into the middle of his massive bowling ball shaped head. As my mom would say, the sexist thing in his pants is his wallet. The thought of deglazing a pan with Newters kind of kills my appetite.

I like my political discourse to be a little higher than that. If I didn’t, I would mention that I’ve seen a picture of RD that wasn’t an avatar.

  14. kc says:

I’m not crazy about Newt either, but nobody should judge on how someone looks.
