NFL Regular Season Final Weekend

Carson Palmer

There are thirty-two teams in the National Football League. Twenty of them will play their last game of the season today. Twelve of them will play at least one more game (four division winners and two wildcards from each conference). For the first time in years the Oakland Raiders are still in it this late in the season:

To win the AFC West, Oakland needs a win and a Denver loss at home to Kansas City. To get a wild-card spot, the Raiders need a win, a win by the Broncos, a home loss by Cincinnati (9-6) to Baltimore and either a Tennessee loss at Houston or a Jets win at Miami.

The Raiders play San Diego in Oakland at 1:00 pm pacific. The Broncos play at the same time. Two of the other three games will be decided by the time the Raiders take the field.

The Cowboys and Giants will play for the NFC East title tonight in the regular season finale.

I can’t keep up with the what-a-win-or-loss means to each team, whew. So my rooting system is thusly:

Giants over Cowboys, so my husband can enjoy the playoff games. It’s torture being married to a Dallas fan.

Jets !! It’s in my blood and I can’t get the vision of Joe Namath in pantyhose out of my head so I’ll be a lifetime Jets fan.

Titans because one of my bestie BFF’s daughter is a cheerleader, it’s required.

Packers vs. Lions game is giving me a heart attack. 24 19 Packers now. Whew, Lions just blew a drive.

End of first half. Missed 47 yard field goal by GB. Still 24-19. I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.

Jets are losing, Houston and Tennessee are tied at 16

  4. myiq2xu says:

Jets are done, Tennessee is leading.

  5. myiq2xu says:

Raiders eliminated from Wild Card but can win division with a win over SD and a Denver loss.

  6. DandyTiger says:

Packers barely one. It was close enough that I’m afraid I died though. Or at least my head things I did.

  7. My Pats get the bye and home field advantage. However, if they get behind in a playoff game like they did the last two weeks we are toast!
    Happy New Year to all!

    Rucking Faiders!

Yeah, saw that Tebow cooperated too. Raiders had a good season. They’ll be back.

    • DandyTiger says:

Raiders set a new NFL record for most penalties in a season. They don’t take shit from nobody. If you’re going to go out, go out kicking someone in the balls I say.

  9. Lola-at-Large says:

I predict The Packers are gonna take it all the way. Again. And I love that. YMMV. 😉
