      OK, their strategy now has me puzzled. I’m almost thinking Obama is being brave and has principles. But I know that’s not possible. So what is it?

        As always for him, it’s the votes. Principles? Hahahaha. Axelrod is betting the Gillibrand Blue Dogs may deliver more undecided/independent votes on this issue in the battleground states than the Stupak Blue Dogs, and he may be right. The abortion debate is 50/50 according to the latest national Gallup, but on contraception he’s probably got an easy advantage with the general electorate. Santorum is getting mileage out of the debate now from the conservative base, but it’ll be different in the general.
