I thought Beelzebub was a Democrat?

The Lightbringer

The Sludge Report:

“Satan has his sights on the United States of America!” Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has declared.

“Satan is attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition.”

The former senator from Pennsylvania warned in 2008 how politics and government are falling to Satan.

“This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country – the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?”

“He attacks all of us and he attacks all of our institutions.”

Santorum made the provocative comments to students at Ave Maria University in Florida.

Like clockwork, a GOP contender rises in the polls past Mitt Romney and and suddenly the hounds of hell try to drag the contender down.

What’s surprising is this is an attack from the left. When is the last time you saw a Republican getting slammed for being too Christian? I can personally vouch that what Santorum was preaching is standard fundamentalist orthodoxy. Some churches spend more time talking about the Devil than they do about God.

What I want to know is whether this means we can take a closer look at what Mitt Romney believes? And can we go back and revisit Reverend Wright now?

Fair is fair.

I’m glad santorum’s freaky religious beliefs are being exposed. He actually said those things in public in 2008 (not 25 years ago). People are free to believe whatever the heck they want and private citizens shouldn’t be insulted by the media for their beliefs, but Santorum is not a private citizen.

Agreed that fair is fair and if Romney has publicly expressed similarly radical fundamentalist beliefs they should also be exposed for voters to mull over. I imagine if he has we would know about it. Of Romneys 5 adult sons, only 2 are practicing Mormons, so I imagine the religious indoctrination in their home growing up wasn’t all that heavy duty.

I’m not religious, so I don’t believe in the devil or the other guy. But I respect the rights of others to. Half the movies in Hollywood these days are about satan or zombies, so what’s one more bogeyman on the pile of ugly pandering campaign rhetoric. Four years ago, Obama’s campaign told me and a hundred million other voters that we were racist for not voting Obama. The campaign rejected campaign finance reform, fixed the primaries, got help from bankers to fix the general, and pretty much spent the year calling everyone racist and ripping apart two prominent women candidates along the way. Santorum’s now going full Falwell and it’s looking ugly, but who exactly set the standard for ugly. Nixon’s delinquents look quaint by comparison.

Ugh . Do not recommend viewing that til after morning coffee. The fact that that opportunistic poser is given any platform makes me want to crawl back into bed and just give up. In some ways I think the man personifies what is wrong with the faux liberals.

There’s faithful and there’s crazy. Santorum is crazy. He’s also a liar who came right out and called Obama’s theology “phony” and then backed up when it became clear that people may not like Obama but they don’t like politicians determining whose religion is authentic.

Didja know that the Girl Scouts are part of a plot to make girls into lesbians and encourage them to have lots of abortions?

    • jjmtacoma says:

Yeah, that is the weirdest thing ever. I think what has him whacked out is this:
      year of the girl campaign

Girl Scouts are trying to focus more attention on girls and encourage them to lead by pointing out forces in society that act against girls leadership or achievement.

First they will want to lead and then they will want to control their bodies. Can’t have that!

Well, I don’t like Santorum for President, but he’s got a point — it sure feels like Satan IS having its evil way with the USA.
Even for people like me who think evil is something that is purely human, I do feel like some very purely human evil is getting a free pass to attack America’s liberties and constitution.

    • votermom says:

      Or in twitspeak:

    • JeanLouise says:

As far as the worship of money is evil, we’re under attack but that’s not what Santorum’s talking about. He thinks we have all these problems because women are working and people are having sex for pleasure instead of procration and we don’t shun gays the way lepers were shunned in the past. He’s not running to reform Wall Street. He’s running to reform sinners, using the long arm of the law to do it.

good post myiq…..fair is fair. The problem is that the conservative voice and media will, once again, not raise their voices in defense. Personally, I am not a Santorum fan but, good heavens, the man was speaking at Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida…a Catholic school. Satan (the devil) is a basic belief in Christian theology….he was stating a Catholic belief and fact, as far as Catholics are concerned. Your point about movies and media is spot on and, let’s be catholic about this, we should be investigating and vetting everyone in politics these days. My theory that “viral lying” is rapidly becoming the weapon of choice of tthe leftist’s propoganda machine has a corollary…”viral destruction”. They know that putting up lies or comments taken out of context can destroy someone. What is the defense against that? Refute the lies immediately and put up our own “viral info”….but make it factual….and that will have an even stronger effect. An example, post those photos again of Obama with Farrakahn!
