Bill Maher

David Axelrod bails on Bill Maher

David Axelrod will not be appearing as a guest on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” despite reports last week that he was scheduled to do the show in the next few weeks.

“He’s not scheduled to go on at this time,” said Ben LaBolt, the press secretary for President Obama’s reelection campaign.

Maher, who donated $1 million to the pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA, has increasingly become a target of right-wing attacks over the last week in response to the left’s attacks on Rush Limbaugh. Maher has come under fire for calling Sarah Palin a “c**t” during his stand-up act and a “dumb tw**t” on his HBO show, among other sexist comments.

[…]

The Daily noted this when reporting last Wednesday that, according to an HBO spokeswoman, Axelrod was scheduled to appear on Maher’s show in the coming weeks.

Axelrod’s cold feet are not the only sign that the right’s attacks on Maher seem to be gaining some traction.

On Thursday, The Daily Caller reported that the Alabama Democratic Party had scrubbed its website of an announcement for its upcoming fundraiser headlined by Maher.

I don’t know how far this pushback is gonna go. Maher and Limbaugh should have been fired by now. In a perfect world they never would have had those jobs in the first place. But we do have their attention.

If you take a couple potshots at a burglar as he flees into the darkness, you don’t have to hit him to get your point across. The sound of hot lead whizzing by his head will stick in his memory.

You can expect Bill, Rush and the other usual suspects to be on their best behavior for a while.

Labeling that picture as BM is an insult to pigs everywhere. 🙂

In other funny news, Obama promised to “spare no effort”. Yep, that’s what he said:

President Barack Obama promised to “spare no effort” to fully investigate the killings of at least 16 Afghan civilians, allegedly at the hands of a U.S. Army staff sergeant.

Obama said he promised Afghan President Hamid Karzai that he takes the matter “as seriously as if it were our own citizens and our own children” who were killed.

Of course as we know, Obama has changed the law of the land so that he can legally murder “our own citizens”, so perhaps Karzai should take that with a grain of salt.

Obama, sparing no effort for over 50 years.

Christ, Santorum won again. Wonder what Dan Savage thinks about all this. Time for him to work his magic with Google again, or go on Maher which he loves to do.

    • Lulu says:

I don’t care if Savage goes on Maher as that is appropriate for both of their levels of discourse, but I will be interested in any political women are stupid enough to do it as in the past. Even Axelrod is going to have to steer clear of Maher and never intended to appear per his spokesperson. Yeah right.

As for Santorum winning Ole Miss and Bama, unless it was a football game it doesn’t matter. It simply reinforces Santorum’s problems of having been born 400 years too late.

On the bright side, a President Santorum might turn out to be a good thing for the feminist movement. Kind of like how Barack single-handedly resuscitated the GOP. There is nothing like coming face to face with your worst nightmare and realizing that you are on your own in the fight, with no white knight to rescue you, to find out what you are really made of.

Ah, such is the course of “ratings”!

  5. T says:

Thanks to Rushie (and Bill’s behavior), Bill spent his $1M buying nothing apparently. No attracting that Obot demographic with Mr. Ass-n-rod. Joke’s on Bill! Ha-ha-ha, now THAAAAAT is comedy

I don’t believe Rush or Maher should be fired for being idiots. I canceled my HBO subscription years ago as i found it worthless and often insulting. If the right mobilized properly they would have those that are offended by Maher use parental blocks on their cable box to prohibit every station in the Time/Warner family in their homes. I think it is 28 cents a month that a Comcast subscriber pays for TNT. If several million people block all of their stations at the same time heads will turn and then Comcast will take another look at what they have to pay. I despise Maher but he is not ad supported and Time Warner thinks HBO is edgy so lets stick with him, but Time Warner owns so much more. Hit em were it hurts boycott their product/brand.
Then you will see Maher politely not renewed
Another thing that pisses me off– oprah tried to get minority status for her own network which translates into you and I paying more to have her blather. She is a billionaire who fucked up and she wants to pass her loss as it is because we are racist.

We may not hear any t, c, or s words for awhile but both Rush and Maher managed to insult women all over again with their clueless but hostile “apologies”. Leopards don’t change their spots.
