Fauxrage du Jour

Remember when Hillary tried to kill Bobby Kennedy?

Romney Refuses To Stand Up To Woman Who Says Obama Should Be ‘Tried For Treason’

At a town hall event in Ohio this afternoon, a woman asked Mitt Romney what he would do to roll back the size of government, and commented that President Obama “should be tried for treason.” She didn’t explain why Obama had committed treason — which is punishable by death. Her comments received a big round of applause from the audience.

Romney responded to her question, but didn’t condemn or acknowledge her comments on treason.

It’s gonna be a looooooonnnnnng six months until election day.

That rat bastard Romney should have defended the Command in Chief! /sarc

Obama’s likable enough, let’s not put him on trial after all.

Lardball’s take is that McCain was some big hero for telling some old lady that Obama wasn’t a Muslim even though Obama was his opponent. I’m sure tweety wants a repeat of the whole McCain campaign, complete with loss. I’d like to see one instance where Obama steered a Democrat away from vitriolic attacks against Republicans.

Fair enough. Let’s look at some other instances of people being accused of treason and/or betraying our country.

“This is quasi-treasonous from my point of view. How can you let American industry be wiped out?” – Van Jones, Former White House Green Czar on GOP opposing loans to Solyndra.

“He betrayed this country!” – Former Vice President Al Gore on George Bush

“Failing to warn the citizens of a looming weapon of mass destruction — and that’s what global warming is — in order to protect oil company profits, well that fits for me the definition of treason.” – Bill Maher on George Bush

“Ezra, you wrote on the blog that the worse this gets, that the less likely Congress will act to stop the bleeding, why don’t people look at that like it is an act of treason?” – MSNBC host Thomas Roberts to Ezra Klein (Ezra didn’t bite).

“President Bush probably also leaked Valerie Plame’s name and so if he did, you can be hung for that! That’s treason!” – Ben Affleck

“George H.W. Bush, the president’s father, was the head of the CIA, and he has said that outing a CIA agent is treason. … And so, basically, what it looks like is going to happen is that Libby and Karl Rove are going to be executed.” – Sen. Al Franken, appearing on Letterman.

And my friend @ExJon pointed out that if your search Daily Kos with the words “Bush” and “Treason” you will find 3,574 results.

As you can see people making crazy comments about people committing treason and betrayal are rather common on the left, but I guess those don’t matter. It doesn’t matter that they’re made by political c0mmentators, a future U.S. Senator, a cable news host on a network that’s in the tank for Democrats, a lefty blog, or a former Vice President. Where was the outcry then?

Crazy accusations like that only matter when the the left can use them to paint a Republican as complicit in them, even when she is a complete nobody and never even asked that question. When reporters did ask Mitt, he clearly said no.

Why should Romney stand up to this woman? She didn’t ask him if he thought Obama should be tried for treason. Geez. What’s the big deal? Obama ate dog; Romney didn’t.

  6. cj says:

lol, even the few remaining hard-core Bots don’t care enough about
Obama to be outraged anymore. Bit the bullet & went to see how it was playing on DU…1 thread / 33 predicable responses. There’s more outrage at Ken Salazar’s management of Idaho’s wolves.

  7. Here’s another case. A white woman got as l’il too uppity about black studies and lost her job for writing this article: http://chronicle.com/blogs/brainstorm/the-most-persuasive-case-for-eliminating-black-studies-just-read-the-dissertations/46346

  8. angienc says:

Obama can’t stand up for himself so he expects everyone else to do it for him. And, in fact, everyone on the Brain Dead Left & in the MSM does, so why not Romney as well?

  9. propertius says:

Treason? Nah. Murder, for ordering extrajudicial assassinations by drone, sure!

  10. wmcb says:

Obama’s DOJ very cozy with the banksters they refuse to prosecute:

If I was a bankster I would stay out of France. When a candidate wins a national election, has an extradition treaty, and says you are the world’s enemy, I would be looking to vacay somewhere crooked like Abu Dhabi or DC.
