Happy Fathers’ Day

Your mother gave you life. She carried you for nine months. She nursed you. She kissed your boo-boos and made them feel all better.

But Dad taught you how to play “Pull my finger.”

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads here.
You are your daughters heroes. For a while they will be the only females that think you are a GOD. Enjoy it while it lasts

You are your sons role models. You teach them how to be good and strong men.

Being DAD is the hardest and the most rewarding job you will ever have. Take the time to enjoy it.

When I was a little girl and I wanted my own way and my dad wouldn’t give in, he would gently say, “Well, someday when someone dies and makes you queen, you can do it that way, but for now, you’re going to do it my way.” His last words to me were, “The King is dead! Long live the Queen!” He went out with a gentle laugh, and left me, as always, with a loving smile on both our faces. Father’s Day is still tough for me, and he’s been gone awhile, but I’m kind of glad that it hasn’t got any easier.

      Stop doing that.

Really, he sounds like he was a wonderful father and you were a really lucky daughter.

This song reminds me so much of my late husband. I miss him everyday but more so today.

Crazy. I just talked to my dad after…wait for it…20 YEARS! Wow. He’s 62 now and has had a series of strokes, he claims due to Agent Orange, but my guess is that the alcohol that wrecked his marriage to my mom is at least partly to blame. And cigarettes. Anyway, not sure how I feel right now. I just looked him up out of the blue and called him. WOW.

good for you for making the effort to get in touch with your dad. No matter how it turns out, you will know you did so,Take the good and leave the bad as hard as that is to do.

      I wish you both well

      • Lola-at-Large says:

Thanks, Helen. I do think that’s right. We’ve been out of touch due to his choices, but his values don’t have to be my values, and I asserted that tonight. And he was really grateful to hear from me, so I am gratified by that. I sent him some pictures of us via e-mail tonight.
