BREAKING! OWS #NatGat Surrounded by Police

UPDATE 10:43 EDT: All livestreams are now down. Looks like that’s all for tonight, folks. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for another 15 minutes or so. Hope you enjoyed the show.

UPDATE 10:06 EDT: Livesteam and Fed. Det. Center keeps getting knocked offline. Crowd is growing. Prisoners banging on windows. Moving to another park to get more recruits. Apparently they think livestreams are being disrupted. He’s the only one up.

UPDATE @ 9:40 EDT: Marchers have arrived at the Federal Detention Center in Philly. There is what sounds like fireworks in the distance. OWSers are claiming it is Long Range Acoustic Device. It is not. You can see fireworks reflected in the glass of a nearby building. Follow livestream here.

9:27 EDT: They have set up camp in the parking lot of the Friends Society (Quaker) parking lot on 4th street. But it’s so boring there, all of the livestreamers have left to go march on the jailhouse, where the arrestees, as they are calling them, have been taken.

Livestream here. That one’s down now. Try this one. Great lighting on it. Here’s another.

This post is subject to constant updates as more info rolls in.

Not sure what the hullabaloo is about. Saw some guy shouting about a tent and a statue The Liberty Bell. They are planning to regroup on Quaker land close by.

Something wonky is going on with the internets. I keep getting a server maintenance message with some highly suspicious language.

    Server Maintenance

Your server is going through a few minutes of routine maintenance. Please don’t touch your browser for a few minutes.

    What do I do?

If you were posting a comment or making a post on your blog then do not press BACK on your browser. Wait 5 minutes and press the refresh icon on your browser. Your comment or post will be sent as normal.
If you are browsing a blog here just wait a few moments and hit refresh. The page you were expecting will appear.

  2. Lola-at-Large says:

One thing to notice watching the livestream: the human mic has limits when it comes to spur of the moment action.

  3. myiq2xu says:

I’m disappointed. They said there was police brutality. I don’t see any.

  4. DeniseVB says:

My internet is freaky-deaky too tonight. Glad’s it’s just not me, might be the heat here in the mid-atlantic, but I spray my Verizon-Fios outside box twice a day 😉

On the #natgat thread weren’t people tweeting “let’s make the pigs work hard for their money today” Geeesh. My tweet today was hoping Eagles fans would welcome them to Philly /snork. Hope I didn’t start it…..heh

  5. Lola-at-Large says:

Jesus, the guy livestreaming and people following him are walking through the streets threatening everyone. And talking about shit like the fact that he still smokes corporate cigarettes, and wishes he could grow his own tobacco. Not that he’d quit, mind you, but wishes he could grow tobacco himself. I can’t wait until he gets his first ObamaTax bill.

  6. Lola-at-Large says:

LMAO! He just screamed at a fellow OWSer

That’s my last cigarette, bitch! You better not take that!

It’s like he doesn’t know what “occupy” and “interdependence” mean.

  7. myiq2xu says:

Those poor kids need encouragement, not mockery.

  8. Hmmm- Scotus declares Obama is a liar, Holder is found in contempt and all of a sudden OWS is back causing trouble. Distract!
Any black panthers there to “assist” they have immunity from Holder right?

  9. Lola-at-Large says:

Unconfirmed reports that Long Range Acoustics are coming.

  10. carol haka says:

If there is any doubt as to who should be the Republican Nominee! 🙂

  11. Lola-at-Large says:

Police are driving through a small march right now at this livestream:

    • Lola-at-Large says:

They are getting ready to bust these fools, marching in the middle of the street chanting.

    • Lola-at-Large says:

They are being so loud that the inmates are banging on the windows. I might have been premature in my assessment that is was “about to break wide open,” but this can’t keep up. They won’t be allowed to rile up the prisoners for long.

Update: Livestreamer JRoz was just told he could not take footage of the facility.

      • Lulu says:

If you try to film around a prison here they let the dogs out—literally.

        • Lola-at-Large says:

He is being very careful now to avoid the building, after his warning. This is not going to end well. It’s one thing to protest at a park or in a parking lot; it’s entirely another to try to surround a federal detention facility.

        • votermom says:

          What prison is this?

        • Lola-at-Large says:

Not sure VM. I just know it’s a federal detention facility in downtown Philly. Do you know where this is? It’s a very tall building. It didn’t take very long to walk there from the Society of Friends building on 4th street.

        • votermom says:

Is it a white bldg? guess it’s the one on Chestnut

        • Lola-at-Large says:

I can’t see the pic from your link, but yes, Chestnut is ringing a bell now. BTW, the only available just took a break for water. Vows to be back in a few.

        • Lulu says:

Texas prisons are mostly out in the boonies. They are not attack dogs but bloodhounds. If idiots get too close to the fences the dogs will find them at howl until the trespassers are deaf. Then the guards come and want to know what the hell you think you are doing. It happens every hunting season or when nitwits canoeing down the rivers get too close next to the big prison farms.

  12. HELENK says:

I keep thinking that the backtrack bunch could not get any worse and every day they exceed my expectations

    • Lulu says:

I don’t think they have ever been to the border. The trees are only three feet tall. There is no where to hide unless you dig a hole. They want them to carry shovels?

    • WMCB says:

This man disgusts me more every day. I used to think the “he actively despises and wants to destroy this country” people were overboard. Now? Wouldn’t surprise me at all.

    • carol haka says:

      I saw on another site:

Even on the Twilight Zone the nightmare finally comes to an end, but not with Obama ………..

  13. Lola-at-Large says:

Did I just see the Romney bus roll by? *blinking* Couldn’t have been…

  14. WMCB says:

OT, stolen from a His44 poster, but this is a GREAT video!

    • HELENK says:

from a commenter at Greta wire

In the spirit of the Fourth of July, remember:

We on this continent should never forget that men first crossed the Atlantic not to find soil for their ploughs but to secure liberty for their souls. ~Robert J. McCracken

    • HELENK says:

they put real feeling into singing the star spangled banner. thank you for posting that video

    • leslie says:

Thank you so much. I got chills.

  15. Lola-at-Large says:

I’ve just cracked my last beer. If livestreams aren’t back by the end of it, this is over for the night. Tune in tomorrow when a bigger crowd is bound to fuck up even more.

    • WMCB says:

I have several days of billing work to do, and have been footdragging and procrstinating. I have GOT to woman up and get it done tonight.

      • Lola-at-Large says:

You can do it! Me? I’m so drunk I’m tweeting mean…

Time to call it a night, I think.

  16. Lola-at-Large says:

The are talking Roberts’ seizures (in the post) and secession (in the comments) at RD. Interesting.

    • angienc says:

Actually shameful. He had 2 isolated (and years apart) seizures & has (I’m sure) top notch doctors who have released him for all normal activity. There is nothing wrong with his brain and even if there were he’d still be 10x smarter than all of them over there put together.

This is what I hate the most about this ruling — everyone on both sides thinks they’re a fucking constitutional scholar with an LLM in Tax Law (without having actually even read the opinion or even the tax code for that matter).

      • Lola-at-Large says:

She thinks it may have made him sympathetic to people with pre-existing conditions, and that may be why he ruled the way he did. She has gone off the deep end.

        • angienc says:

Still shameful. She’s an asshole, plain & simple speculating based on everything but the actual opinion itself. She belongs with Kos & their ilk.
And he’s still 10x smarter than all of them put together.

        • Lola-at-Large says:

Oh, I agree. I don’t think he would let the personal interfere with his judicial reasoning. But it has been interesting to watch her deepening spiral as she continues to experience long-term unemployment. She is now saying shit she ran people off her blog for saying. What’s next? She joins the Tea Party? /snark

  17. myiq2xu says:

I guess the Batman cape didn’t work

  18. DeniseVB says:

So the Eagles fans let me down ? I thought they all did head crackings in the off season to keep in shape for opposing team fans. Oh well…..

    • HELENK says:

Bars haven’t closed yet. They no longer have the blue laws that closed them at midnight on a Saturday. Eagles fans party then they take out the trash

  19. Lola-at-Large says:

JRoz is back up for you late night folks. He’s back at base camp and they are mic checking. About to go try to sleep on Wells Fargo front steps. JRoz going. LOL.

Update @ 11:48: They are a block from Wells Fargo now.

    • myiq2xu says:

It’s just past midnight in Philly and there are about 20 of them sitting on the sidewalk in front of BofA

They are really sticking it to The Man

      • Lola-at-Large says:

Did you happen to catch the old guy tell them they needed to go down the block and talk because he needed his sleep? Hilarious. This is WAY better than reality tv. No commercials, either.

  20. Lola-at-Large says:

Hilarious. They are talking about sleeping in on a public sidewalk until 10:00 AM, then heading to McDonald’s or Burger King for breakfast. The irony is so strong I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

    • Lola-at-Large says:

Security now on the scene. They are at Bank of America, not Wells Fargo, ftr. Didn’t even know where they were going!

  21. myiq2xu says:

Actually, they do it for the lulz

  22. Lola-at-Large says:

    I’m out. G’night folks.

  23. HELENK says:

when they tell you to move do it
