The British can kiss my spotted dick

Mitt Romney, a guy who has run an Olympics ceremony, offered some tepid criticism of your security for the games and you folks pretty much freaked the hell out over it.

Could Romney have answered the question differently? Of course. But in this case, he chose honesty over political nicety and you pummeled him for it. I don’t mean to be impolite, but your citizens haven’t been paragons of diplomatic nicety in criticizing my country’s political leaders. I’m just spitballing here, but I cannot recall a protest in the United States where our citizens created and toppled a statue of either Tony Blair or David Cameron. Or where, encouraged by a demagogue, a large group of Americans booed any of your political leaders or candidates.

I have no particular affection for Mitt Romney but I will vote for him in November. However, watching a crowd of Britons jeering an American citizen at the prompting of London’s mayor really pissed me off. Watching our media collectively wet themselves in support of those Britons moves my mood from pissed off to blood boiling/higher blood pressure. The special relationship should go both ways. In reality, I guess it doesn’t.

After careful consideration I have decided that I hope the London Olympics are a major clusterfuck and an embarrassment for England. I also hope the United States Olympic team rocks the gold medals.

That country has bad food, bad teeth and warm beer.

    Here’s how I tweeted it.

And er, since the #RomneyShambles tag is infested with trolls, have the disinfectant ready

    • DeniseVB says:

I had an obot “correct” me a “blithering idiot” from a recent #hashtag game, think it was #romneywillnever ? Anyhow, in response to my tweet romneywillnever “use the race card”, trollie said he said “anglo-saxon”, so he has too played the race card.

I think it’s going to get worse …. lola’s Romney Democrats page on FB has already attracted a lot of flies πŸ˜€

So many anti-Obama tweeters getting suspended – I’ve been very careful to not start any tweets with a username – always use a “.” first.

Still and all, it would have been much better for Romney to simply have said “have a great and safe Olympics” and left it at that….wasn’t exactly a smart move on his part……true or not.

    • tommy says:

You’re absolutely right. He should have diplomatically brushed it off. Not good politics, especially since hes running for President.

Lol. My BFF and I have this conversation all of the time. She’ll buy a new dress that she thinks looks absolutely fabulous, and she’ll ask me what I think searching for confirmation that she’s never looked better in her life. I can sew up a storm, and I’ll notice that one shoulder isn’t sitting the same as the other, and I’ll offer to make it fit her better. Which she has learned to let me do. Romney is an “expert” on the Olympics and he’s a “fixer”. You don’t ask him what he thinks about things he knows a lot about if you’re just fishing for compliments.

I hope the US kicks ass too, starting with Michelle Obama’s.
Why is she (and her sulking, pouty daughters) “leading the US delegation?”
Meeee, meeee, it’s all about meeee!

  5. karlsdoberman says:

Nothing wrong with what Mitt said. The Brits are a bit pasty-skinned … but luckily have averted an immigration personel strike – phew … gotta apease labor … gotta apease the crowd. London riots anyone? Concerned about security? .. nahhh .. not me … but I’m not anywhere near that place πŸ˜‰

Londoners have gotten out of their cars as Olympics snarl traffic. Romney press pool now walking to his mtg

    • DeniseVB says:

When they opened the VIP lanes a few weeks ago to let the locals get used to the new traffic patterns, they had 32 mile back ups. Now we have MO over there with her caravan of dozens of cars and media and probably closing down the VIP lanes ! I’m only guessing since Obama shut down our local interstate in BOTH directions for a short campaign visit and it took hours for the traffic to unsnarl.

Hope he’s taking his chopper to McLean, VA today as he has two fundraisers around rush hour in DC.

    • DeniseVB says:

Obama overplays everything to take the focus off of him. πŸ˜€

lol, another super-intelligent comment from John Kerry “who claimed that Romney’s comments “threaten the bipartisan relationship that we and our British friends have forged through all those years of shared sacrifice.”

Drama queen much? omg get the smelling salts before he collapses in a swoon.

The extreme noise and hay made of a minor gaffe is kind of telling. Sure, run with whatever you have, make as much fun as you can. It’s a fun sport. But the passion and vitriol level is telling.

you have millions of visitors coming to your country, you really do not want them driving. So you PO the taxi drivers to the point where they have slow downs that cause traffic jams . that can cause security problems. What part don’t I understand??

  16. imusthavepie says:

What happened to Piers Morgan? He was also speaking very fondly about Mitt Romney, and particular Ann Romney after his interview with the couple. He seemed genuinely moved by her struggle with MS. And now he’s defending Mitt when the rest of the Obotworld is piling on like the hyenas that they are???

  17. catarina says:

OT, but Chic Fil A is having a buycott on 8/1.

I’ll go to support them AND to piss on the thug Mumbles Menino’s leg.

Hopefully, we could get an open thread in 6-8 hours? An epic rant has been boiling up within me all day long. I’m going to sleep now but hope for an open thread when I wake up. πŸ˜‰
