Federal Court Finds Obama Appointees Interfered With New Black Panther Prosecution

A federal court in Washington, DC, held today that political appointees appointed by President Obama did interfere with the Department of Justice’s prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.

The ruling came as part of a motion by the conservative legal watch dog group Judicial Watch, who had sued the DOJ in federal court to enforce a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents pertaining to the the New Black Panthers case. Judicial Watch had secured many previously unavailable documents through their suit against DOJ and were now suing for attorneys’ fees.

Obama’s DOJ had claimed Judicial Watch was not entitled to attorney’s fees since “none of the records produced in this litigation evidenced any political interference whatsoever in” how the DOJ handled the New Black Panther Party case. But United States District Court Judge Reggie Walton disagreed. Citing a “series of emails” between Obama political appointees and career Justice lawyers, Walton writes:

The documents reveal that political appointees within DOJ were conferring about the status and resolution of the New Black Panther Party case in the days preceding the DOJ’s dismissal of claims in that case, which would appear to contradict Assistant Attorney General Perez’s testimony that political leadership was not involved in that decision. Surely the public has an interest in documents that cast doubt on the accuracy of government officials’ representations regarding the possible politicization of agency decision-making.

Just imagine the reaction if a couple white-hooded Klansmen were filmed holding baseball bats and standing outside a polling place in Alabama and a GOP-led Justice Department dismissed the case and tried to sweep it under the rug.

Welcome to post-racial America, where the only thing that matters is race.

  2. How nice of them to “find” what took us all of what? 30 seconds?
Not going to stop them from doing it again though. Almost enough to make me vote absentee and go to Philly armed with a video camera and my dog.

I’m interested in the outcome of the court case about voter id laws in PA. The claim by the Democrats is that there is no voter fraud at the personal voting level, but, like where cheating on state educational exams was non-existent until someone went looking for it ( and not just in PA, BTW), I don’t think we’ll know just how much fraud there has been until we hold an election where everyone needs a photo id.

do not go to Chicago, Rahm just outsourced the police dept to the black panthers.
The black panthers have been around Philly since at least the late sixties. The killed a park guard in Cobb Creek park back then. Have been patroling the projects and have a lot of control in the prison system of PA

Two Olympic athletes have been suspended for posting racist tweets. Neither one was American.

Darrell Issa sure had me fooled that he was going to start issuing subpoenas and kicking ass.

I’m sorry, does any one have the list of all the bad guys he has sent to the pen yet!

I hear you, Carol. We have Eric Holder the first Attorney General to have ever been held in Contempt of Congress, but it seems to carry the same weight as a “letter of reprimand in your permanent record”.

Speaking of expenditures, did you see the silver and white designer jacket Michelle Obama wore to the Olympics opening?

      It cost $6800.

Now tell me again who’s out of touch with the middle class!
