I almost got banned from TalkLeft today (again)

(Shamelessly stolen from Angienc)

Jeralyn at TalkLeft:

Republicans Party On as Hurricane and Disaster Loom

Isaac will be a Cateogry 1 Hurricane when it hits Louisiana around 7 pm tonight. New Orleans is directly in its cross-hairs.

[…]

Leopards don’t change their spots. Republicans will dine and and drink and listen to speeches while the Gulf Coast goes down. They will pay more attention to the ditzy tea partier and former TV actress giving a convention speech on (of all things) the importance of the Constitution than they will to the plight of those affected by the hurricane.

For all their lip service to family values and patriotism, it’s a marvel how out of touch Republicans are with America. Perhaps tonight and Wednesday, as people channel surf from hurricane news to vapid Republican speeches, the disconnect will be too glaring to overlook.

I was very, very tempted to respond with something like “And what is Obama doing today?” but I didn’t. That’s because the last time I did that I got banned.

From September 26, 2008 at Klownhaus:

I was banned from TalkLeft!

Move over Lambert, you now have company. Last night I was banned from from a site for only the second time ever. Even John Cole, who had far more cause, never booted me from his place.

So what terrible crimes did I commit to deserve being banished?

I responded to Jeralyn’s latest screed against John McCain:

More and more media articles I’m reading tonight agree: McCain’s suspension of his campaign was a political stunt, a second Hail Mary pass to deal with falling poll numbers and growing worry among voters that Sarah Palin just is not qualified or prepared to be Vice President and that he makes rash decisions out of self-interest and tries to pass them off as patriotism.

with this:

Meanwhile, what has Obama done? Nothing.

That was my one and only comment of the day. Jeralyn immediately deleted it and banned me.

So a few months later I opened a new account under a different alias. I rarely comment but the account is still active.

Should I have sacrificed another sockpuppet?

BTW – Obama is out campaigning today.

Last time I checked he was out campaigning.

Let’s see how long it takes this time.

For globe-trotting Hillary, Democratic convention not on itinerary

As delegates gather next week for the Democratic National Convention, they will look in vain for one of the party’s biggest stars.

Where in the world is Hillary Clinton?

The 2008 Democratic presidential candidate, frequently rated the most popular member of President Barack Obama’s cabinet, will be half a world away from the North Carolina convention center when Democrats gather September 4-6 to nominate Obama for a second term.

Clinton’s head-spinning itinerary for that week, which will take her from the South Pacific to Asia to Russia’s eastern port city of Vladivostok, is business as usual for the U.S. secretary of state, who has broken numerous travel records since taking the job in 2009.

Through it all, Clinton has studiously adhered to the rule that America’s top diplomat must remain above the partisan fray. When asked touchy domestic political questions, Clinton’s usual response is a wry, silent smile.

So it was no surprise when her staff confirmed she would skip the Democratic convention in Charlotte, the first she has missed since 1968.

I’ve been watching baseball on a regular basis for nearly 30 years now. I just saw something I never seen before.

Pablo Sandoval muffed a pop-up but managed to flip it into the air and Brandon Crawford made a diving catch for the out.

Isaac just made landfall in Boothville (Plaquamines Parish) winds are at 80 miles an hour. Hopefully nothing worse than power outages for my parents. Many in Grand Isle didn’t even evacuate!
Jeralyn is full of it — you can tell who has never lived on the Gulf Coast — the red states are fine with the RNC convention going on! 🙂
    Good night all!

Maybe I haven’t read enough here at TCH, I didn’t realize your parents were in LA. I hope they stay safe and you have few worries about them this week.

And I’ve never been to the Gulf Coast, much to my disappointment.
Maybe I’ll get there someday soon.

I remember that suspension, it was totally justified by McCain, it was the right move at the right time. The media did a horrendous job respecting his wishes.

Obama I recall chortled that a president should be able to multi-task. You know, like Obama has, as in plan his own vacation, his children’s vacation, and mix in some photo ops as well.
