RNC Open Thread – Paul Ryan’s Big Night

Paul Ryan gives his acceptance speech tonight. FOX cancelled Sarah Palin’s appearances. Clint Eastwood is rumored to be in Tampa.

What stupid shit will MSNBC pull tonight? What will everyone be talking about tomorrow?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Archbishop Demetrios! Ha! You know that’s my guy Reince’s (Greek Orthodox) doing. If I wasn’t already voting for Romney I would be now.

  6. indigogrrl1 says:

This is making the rounds amongst my FBFs with lots of dramatic “oh the horror”

    • DeniseVB says:

      The article was updated:

Editor’s Note: After this post was written, it was reported on Buzzfeed and elsewhere that the “U.S.A.” chant on the convention floor began as a response to chants of “Point of Order” by Ron Paul supporters. An RNC spokesperson denied to Fox News Latino that the chanting was related to Zoraida Fonalledas’s nationality.

100 year old driver hits 9 kids and 2 adults in LA school zone.

  8. DeniseVB says:

That Puerto Rican Governor was hawt 😉 Nice speech too.

I limited the number of people I follow on Twitter to what I thought was a manageable number.

It’s been crazy the past 2 days.

    off topic
I went to see the 2016 movie today. this is my opinion for what it is worth

I went today and saw it. Many of the things we here already knew about.
My take may not be the same as most of you
I see a kid from two screwed up parents who hate everything that America stands for. Both are anti colonialist. Dad takes a hike and has a collection of women and kids. mom keeps telling the kid only good things about dad. She finally divorces dad and marries another man. This man takes them to Indonesia where he tries to make a good life for them. But mom is not into advancing in a corporation that make money off oil. She sends the kid to grandmom and grandpop. Grandmom works and supports grandpop and the kid. Grandpop gives the kid to a known communist pedophile to be mentored. The communist has Chicago connections and passed the kid to them. The dad dies and the kid takes trip to Kenya where he fantasizes a dad that is a hero.
So now you have a brain washed kid who feels he is oh so special and wants to further the parents dream of anti colonialism. A perfect candidate to be trained and put in place by every sick twist that hates this country. They introduced him to a dissatisfied woman to marry and this helps the image.

He is one sick puppy and dangerous to the country

    • hmmmmmm—interesting story line. Need to go see it….

    • yttik says:

Good review! That’s pretty much what I concluded after reading the President’s books.

    • carol haka says:

      Twisted evil psycho! 👿

    • leslie says:

I felt similarly after seeing it Sunday afternoon. But I left the theater feeling more concerned for our future than ever. Not only our future but the future of the world. The end of the movie was more disconcerting to me than i’d allow myself to be in the past. It has pretty much convinced me to vote R/R.
So now, I’m concerned that this was the purpose of the movie and I don’t trust anyone – not even myself. I want to know WHO decided on this child of two screwed up parents – although I’m not convinced the father he actually knew (Soetoro) was all that screwed up. And the “Father” that he saw ONE TIME in his life is a convenient scapegoat.
Okay,I have nothing more now that I sound completely paranoid.

  12. carol haka says:

The convention hall is not even close to being full. Where is everyone? 👿

  13. myiq2xu says:

The most disgusting video ever is “2 girls, 1 cup.” This one is the second worst:

    NSFA (Not Safe For Anywhere)

    • carol haka says:

What the hell was licking it?

I am seriously going to have to sleep with the lights on for the rest of my life!

      Thanks Klown.

        It was a slug.

What was it doing in a doctor’s office?

        • carol haka says:

He probably pulled it out of the patient’s ear. Who the hell knows? I’ve had a problem with things that are in “patterns” since I saw a picture of smallpox Sophomore year in the college library.

          Ick 👿

  14. LOVE LOVE LOVE Condi Rice…..

  15. DeniseVB says:

    Susanna Martinez !

  17. myiq2xu says:

Some Code Pinko just got booted.

  18. myiq2xu says:

As soon as he’s done I’m switching to MSNBC to watch the fun

    • leslie says:

Just changed to MSNBC: Sharpton is ranting.

    • driguana says:

I did exactly the same thing and the first words out of “Tingles” mouth were negative. I try to always be a positive person but I have to say that msnbc and maddow, sharpton, matthews and o’donnel are absolutely disgusting human beings…what a pathetic “news” organization. Just watching all of them sitting up there smirking is even worse than watching all those weather “reporters” standing outside in a hurricane trying to stand upright. I thought Ryan’s speech was very effective….

  19. myiq2xu says:

Awwww, a shout out to mom

  20. DeniseVB says:

Ryan Talking about mom, cspan just gave a close up of the proud mama, eyes watering after such a beautiful tribute to her.

  21. myiq2xu says:

“College graduates shouldn’t have to spend their 20s in their childhood bedrooms staring at faded Obama posters.”

    • carol haka says:

His best line! 👿 The rest was a snooze fest, except for the part where he is just sooooooooo damn good looking!

  22. myiq2xu says:

Ryan is rocking the RNC crowd.

  23. myiq2xu says:

“By the way, being successful in business – that’s a good thing.”

  24. myiq2xu says:

“I thought it was a negative and nasty speech”

  25. carol haka says:

My Ryan could never be a Republican candidate – his mother and/or dad didn’t die at 16.

  26. DeniseVB says:

  27. HELENK says:

    some really good speeches tonight.
People that believe in the American dream. what a concept.
    Republican women just have it.

  28. MSNBC in full meltdown mode. Glorious! Heard the whole Ryan speech in my car, ftr. It was EXCELLENT!

  29. myiq2xu says:

Andrea Mitchell sounds like a zombie

    • myiq2xu says:

Chris Matthews interrupts Andrea Mitchell and tells her to ask Condi about birtherism.

      • He was hooked on “birtherism” tonight. He gets his grubby little mind on something he thinks will resonate and he pounds it. Unfortunately for him his game is so off these days, his shit does not resonate and he does more damage than he helps.

    • cj says:

Hate to say it, but so does the Democratic Party. For good or bad, the fresh faces in town are all Republicans & their bench is deep. They’re young, charismatic & invigorated and they make the D Party look every inch the clownish cliche it’s become under Obama. FDR & JFK must be spinning in their graves.

      • DM says:

“For good or bad, the fresh faces in town are all Republicans & their bench is deep.”

That’s what happens when incumbents get fired, like the Republicans experienced in 2008. The Democrats will either get new faces with new ideas, or the party will die. Either way, the voters win.

  30. carol haka says:

Can’t wait until Scarborough, Matthews, Maddow fight on air like 2008: http://punditfight.blogspot.com/2008/08/democratic-convention-tension-puma.html

    Sadly, Olberman won’t be there:

  31. leslie says:

Right now, Gov Walker is in nearly hand-to-hand combat w/Maddow and Ed What’shisname and Al Sharpton re the auto industry in WIsconsin.

  32. myiq2xu says:

That’s all the TV my nerves can handle.

I really miss beer right now.

  33. Let’s just talk for a minute about this line: “My mother is my role model.”

What a contrast to Obama, huh? While Obama dreams of his dead and deadbeat Dad, Ryan is inspired by his living, inspiring mom. WTG, Ryan!

  34. gram cracker says:

Thanks you’all for your insights. I just came in from being in the hot tub with my daughter and her five year old son. Now drinking margaritas. Missed all the speeches! You all are the greatest for watching and reporting what Madcow, tingles tweety, Lowrant and Rotund Martin are ranting about. I just don’t have the stomach for their sh*t. You all are the greatest – you sift through the sand and sort out the best nuggets. Got to get more booze got next week.
