A Sign From God?

Rains wash away Mount Obama in Charlotte, N.C.

A torrential downpour that struck Charlotte Saturday afternoon damaged the Mount Rushmore-style sand sculpture bust of President Obama — an ominous beginning to what many fear is a plagued convention.

Workers were trying Saturday afternoon to reform the base of the sculpture, built from sand brought in from Myrtle Beach, S.C., pounding and smoothing out the sand that had washed off the facade of the waist-up rendering of the chief executive.

The sand sculpture was protected from above, and Mr. Obama’s face didn’t see too much damage. But the storm was so strong that its heavy winds blew the rain sideways, pelting the president’s right side and leaving the sand pockmarked and completely erasing his right elbow.

A week ago some pinheads were gloating that Hurricane Isaac was going to descend on Tampa and wash out the GOP convention, thus proving that God hates Republicans. Isaac promptly veered away from Florida.

I wonder what they think now?

And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, which built his house on the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. – Matthew 7:26-27

Need holy rain water to wash that creepy golem away.

  2. Lulu says:

What did God do to the golden calf? False idols and all that. It was appropriate that it was Obama made of sand. The artist knew their temporary medium.

  3. HAHAHAHAHAHA! I was thinking about this just earlier today. I was thinking, Who thought this was a great idea? What if it got rained on? Isn’t a sand sculpture the wrong metaphor to be using and comparing to Mount Rushmore? LOL! I love it when serendipity happens.

    • TorchWood says:

Serendipity nothin’ Idol built of sand and washed away..That is what is known as karma and it’s coming for all the Obots and their “fearless leader”

  4. PS: Love that it was pelted from the right. LOL!

Here’s what I’m wondering – if the styrofoam Greek columns were an omen that he was gonna try and turn our economy into Greece, what’s the creepy sand monster foreshadowing? That he’s going to turn us into Saudi?

*Yeah I’m paranoid; doesn’t mean they’re not out to get me.*

Hey Obama, Dorian Gray called, he wants his sand sculpture back.

Geez. I thought the rain had hit it in the face.

    But I was wrong.

Not the best sculpture I’ve ever seen.

Obama Says GOP is So ‘Last Century’

President Barack Obama said Republicans had showcased “an agenda that was better suited for the last century’’ at their just-concluded national convention, as he kicked off a five-state campaign trip ahead of next week’s Democratic National Convention.

“It was a rerun,” Mr. Obama said Saturday to a crowd gathered on a farm here. “We’ve seen it before. You might as well have watched it on a black-and-white TV.”

I remember quite a bit of the last century. I particularly liked the Nineties.

I like the quote, but it is Matthew 7, not Matthew 6.

    • yttik says:

LOL, okay, but I think Matthew 6 sums up Obama-bots pretty well. “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them…… So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others….But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret….”

      • darraghcmurphy says:

Matthew 6 has always been my most favorite part of the bible and the one sentiment that keeps from 100% rejecting Christianity. Thanks for the reminder.

    @iowahawkblog In Charlotte’s sandy silence, all alone/Stands a gigantic Head…I am the Great Obamandias…

  16. Oswald says:

I met a traveller from North Carolina
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in front of the DNC Convention.
    Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose grin,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of condescension,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Obamandias, preezy of preezys:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Just the other day I was saying how great it would be to watch that wash away like a sandcastle in the tide…..and now look!

I love it when that happens!

  19. foxyladi14 says:

God does not like people worshiping others.says so in the good book. 🙂

  20. leslie says:

What are they gonna do with the sand when it is all over? Spend even more money to haul it back to the beach? or will they wash it into the Charlotte sewer system?
