Hasn’t Ted Strickland used a microphone before? He doesn’t need to yell.

  2. They are ALL yelling

  3. wmcb says:

This is a train wreck. It’s all coming across as very frantic.

  4. lyn5 says:

I’m glad you guys are watching so I don’t have to! Thank you.

  5. myiq2xu says:

    Kathleen Sebelius likes Obamacare

  6. wmcb says:

I could be wrong, but I think the Dems must have some BAD internal polling on women. Because I cannot for the life of me figure out any other reason they’d be going this route. I am pro-choice, but not politically stupid. I know that 62% of voters want at least some restrictions on abortion. A big chunk are full-on prolife. VERY few view it as something to celebrate. Sorry, that’s just reality.

Doing a very public abortionpalooza is a BAD idea, unless he is slipping so badly with women that they are desperate.

    • gxm17 says:

ITA. Their internal polls must be awful. They’ve even lost pro-choice women like me as I refuse to be beaten with the abortion stick and will be voting third party (or, as my better half says, second party since the uni-party counts as one).

    • It’s a bad idea even IF they’re tanking among women, but it perfectly expresses how stale, clueless, and out of touch this party is. Social issues don’t mean SHIT this year. But they haven’t figured that out yet.

  7. myiq2xu says:

  8. myiq2xu says:

Here come the attacks on R&R

  9. cj says:

Nice pic of the donkey, but you’re not going to see one at this convention. it’s nothing but stupid O signs now.

  10. wmcb says:

One of the things that struck me most about this year’s GOP convention is that all those “social issues” that they are supposedly “obsessed with” were barely even mentioned. That was NOT true in the past – I’ve watched enough conventions to know.

The Dems are the ones cranking up the crazy this year. Down is up.

    • lyn5 says:

Good catch. The GOP’s criticism of Empty Chair wasn’t angry. Sounds like the Dems are losing it.

    • fif says:

They can’t run on their record, so they have to demonize the opponent. Obama’s likeability numbers have fallen and Romney’s have not risen a lot, but a bit, so given his abysmal record, they have to destroy the other option. Fear fear fear fear fear.

  11. myiq2xu says:

  12. myiq2xu says:

    Now Rahmbo is up

  17. yttik says:

Uhg, what a train wreck. I turned it off, the energy is frantic, hysterical, the speakers are screaming, but they really don’t have anything to say.

The diversity is also so over done it feels really phony and theatrical. In real life, you don’t see a Hawaiian in a grass skirt sitting next to a woman in a burka, next to a woman in a sparkly evening grown with Obama’s face in rhinestones.

    • wmcb says:

“Frantic” was exactly the word I reached for trying to describe this. It’s forced and manic.

      • yttik says:

Manic is a good word. They’re all trapped in some sort of Dean scream or something. The energy is so forced it feels phony.

        • leslie says:

Morning joe sounded really creepy this morning,. Mika was gushing over everything any Democrat said. I thought she was going to molest one of the governors (I think from CT). I really had to turn it off. Usually, lately I get ready for work with Morning Joe on – it energizes me – gets me into a fighting mood. i’m ready for the commute.
but this morning, I thought she was going to have an orgasm simply being on the same stage with” all those men”. The only other woman was Andrea Mitchell (who was actually saying that Romney’s number s seemed to be better in NC than TehOnce.)

Doesn’t Mika recognize the disparity between the numbers of men and women who appear on the program? I do. And it is even more pronounced after having seen the powerful/elected women who spoke last week at the GNC.

  18. wmcb says:

  19. Obama and Women

“The decline has occurred entirely among women registered voters – from 57-39 percent favorable-unfavorable in April to a numerically negative 46-50 percent now. That’s Obama’s lowest score among women voters – a focus of recent political positioning – in ABC/Post polls since he took office. Unusually, his rating among men, 50-47 percent favorable-unfavorable, is numerically better than it is among women, albeit not by a significant margin.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/09/obamas-popularity-dips-underwater-for-romney-a-faint-favorability-bounce/

  20. myiq2xu says:

    Kal Penn speaking.

Telling us how wonderful Obama is.

  21. yttik says:

I had to turn the thing off. I’m getting a migraine. WTH ? No, seriously, I’ve watched many Dem conventions, even attended some, but after tonight, I don’t want anybody to know that. This is downright embarrassing.

  22. myiq2xu says:

  23. cj says:

Maya Soetoro speaking…she calls him Brock.

  24. myiq2xu says:

  25. cj says:

Now MO’s bro. Never noticed before, but he looks just like her.

  26. DandyTiger says:

I stopped watching the crazy. Thanks to those still doing it so we don’t have too. Watching the DNC is like watching a group of people smoking pot or being blitzed out drunk while you’re cold sober. It’s fine when everyone is silly, but as soon as they get serious and think they’re making sense, it gets painful to watch.

  27. carol haka says:

Drinking game: Take a shot everytime MO uses the word “a” in front of a word that starts with a noun! 👿

    • cj says:

Should be interesting. I’ve never heard her string two simple sentences together without f’ing it up.

  28. threewickets says:

And now, a message from our sponsors..

  29. yttik says:

I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep telling people they’re better off today then they were four years ago. If you’re living in your parents basement waiting for your food stamps to come, people telling you you’re better off than you were is like pouring salt in a wound.

    • Jadzia says:

Or if you’ve moved out of the country because, say, you lost your job while you were 9 months pregnant and couldn’t afford both to house and insure your children. Not that I’m bitter.

  30. westcoaster says:

the koolaid must have been extra concentrated this time…

  31. yttik says:

Ahhhhh, sweet relief. My ears are still ringing, but these photos took the edge off.

Here’s a look at what the secretary of state has been up to while other Democrats gather in Charlotte, N.C.

Hannity is shredding some Hollywood lib.

  33. scoutt says:

Boxer is performing an abortion on stage. Nancy will be shooting pingpong balls with her reconstructed vage.

  34. myiq2xu says:

Deval Patrick yelling at the crowd.

    • cj says:

      John Podhoretz‏@jpodhoretz

Listen up to Deval Patrick’s speech because Obama will give the same one on Thursday.

    • Karma says:

      “Bullied out of office…’ Huh?

Didn’t know you could bully a president.

    • catarina says:

Let’s talk about “bullies,” Deval, you nasty, lying little prick.

How many points did Hillary win MA by in the 2008 primary? 10??
      The voters wanted Hillary.
And who did Deval bully the MA delegation into voting for??
      He knows plenty about bullying.

      Fuck Deval Patrick.
Wake up, Massachusetts, and get your heads out of your assholes.

  35. myiq2xu says:

Tweety loves him some Deval Patrick

  36. myiq2xu says:

    “Forward – Not Back”

    • Karma says:

That’s definitely mockable…and gives a new meaning to the concept of an echo chamber.

Hope that’s the only speech the audience is forced fed response lines. Once was painful enough.

  37. myiq2xu says:

  38. myiq2xu says:

That’s it – the Giants game is on.

  39. yttik says:

LOL! The kid is thrashing around in the other room, yelling, “make it stop, make it stop!” I guess the remote isn’t working anymore and the TV’s stuck on cspan.

  40. myiq2xu says:

One guy I never heard of introducing another guy I never heard of.

  41. cj says:

He’s smug. And boring. Yep, he could definitely be the next Barack.

  42. conner43 says:

Mo will say ‘schtrong’ and Brr-ock…guaranteed. The really big question is will her dress actually FIT just this one time ?

    • leslie says:

      Honest to goodness conner43!!!
I thought I was the only person alive who quaked at MO shlurring her
s-t-r’s —->SCHTRONG – excellent ! And she will and she’ll say schtreet and schtrength and anything else that begins with s-t-r.
It has got so bad here in chicago, that I now hear news anchors pronouncing those words the same way. (It’s kinda like they’re afraid that if they pronounce words correctly, they’ll be banned for life from the WH)

  43. myiq2xu says:

The Democrats are making a mistake by attacking Romney so much.

He’s not the one in office.

  44. myiq2xu says:

    Is he still talking?

  45. myiq2xu says:

Michelle Obama video explaining how she started out as the impoverished child of a government employee.

  46. myiq2xu says:

Marco Scutaro hit a 1-out triple in the bottom of the first.

  47. wmcb says:

  48. myiq2xu says:

Why do we need to see bio videos about the Obamas? We already know who they are.

  49. wmcb says:

    god but they all suck.

  53. cj says:

Oh Christ, I don’t think I can watch this.

  54. SHV says:

    Julián Castro’:

“But the biggest symbol of his status of a “new generation” of Latino leaders might be the fact he does not speak Spanish. That’s not uncommon in San Antonio’s Latino community, but it is for a national Latino political leader. His mother says she is the reason he does not know the language; she spoke to him only in English as a child. Castro is trying to learn the Spanish now (he can understand interview questions asked in Spanish and speaks some phrases), and acknowledges it could help his political career if he knew the language better.”

    http://univisionnews.tumblr.com/post/30815792159/julian-castro-latino-obama-democratic-keynote-speech

Seem like the DNC could find an Hispanic pol who could speak Spanish!

    • leslie says:

they can find a Hispanic pol who speaks Spanish. But they have to get someone from the GOP.

    • Jadzia says:

Why would you not give your kids the benefit of 2 languages if possible? This is a big issue Chez Jadzia–the kids learn French out and about, at school, from relatives, and from radio/TV, and the ones who are of talking age are all fluent by now. But we always speak English to them at home so that they don’t lose it, and so far, none of them have. Even the one who wasn’t talking yet when we moved here speaks really good English. We’ll see what ends up happening with the baby.

  55. myiq2xu says:

FLOTUS’ speech sounded better in the original Klingon.

  56. myiq2xu says:

    Giants/D-Backs, Dodgers/Padres all tied at 1 apiece.

  57. LiVo says:

New drinking game: Take a shot every time Michelle says that affected “Y’see” or does that fake stutter to make her sound spontaneous.

  58. Interesting that Michelle stole Condi’s color.

    Run Solyndra/Forrest….Run!

The Obama campaign rolled out the red carpet this week for a former top Energy Department official who was at the center of the ill-fated government loan to Solyndra, a California solar panel firm that wound up in bankruptcy.

Steven J. Spinner joined other top fundraisers for a VIP tour of the Democratic National Convention floor in Charlotte Monday evening, posing and waving for a photographer while standing behind the podium. When he saw ABC News cameras, however, he ran for the exit.

  61. alice says:

Er, this does not come off as a party for a confident group of people. I guess that means ix-nay on the styrofoam Greek columns? How the mighty have fallen.

  62. Karma says:

Wait…why are Dems speaking to God? Isn’t He under the bus?

  63. leslie says:

I just went to twitter, and I swear this was the second comment in my thread or whatever it is called.

I could not stop laughing when I read this. I thought they uses drones and stenos already to gather news. They sure do not use investigative reporters

  65. DM says:

I refuse to watch the DNC convention, but after reading the comments here, it seems the Democrats are again making Obama the center of adoration and lifting him higher and higher. Ugh!

  66. carol haka says:

Am I too old to start “cutting”? I am putting myself back on suicide watch if I have to hear about the obama struggles again. :wvil:

  67. conner43 says:

After listening to that odious woman, who needs gin ? It’s possible to get a blinding headache without it, but not nearly as much fun.

  68. wmcb says:

  69. westcoaster says:

Krauthammer said she did a great speech, and she was essentially selling Obama as another Gandhi. Then he said that he is no Gandhi and gave the example of how he treated Paul Ryan when Ryan came out with his budget plan. (on Fox news)

  70. I have watched with gritted teeth today. And I have a confession—–I went to the pool and was swimming laps through most of Michelle’s speech. I did hear the final 10 minutes.

And today my blog was invaded by obots who wanted to know who I thought I was voting for Romney, what kind of woman was I. And I wasn’t the only one. Memories of 2008. Deleted all….hahahahahahaha

    • DandyTiger says:

Yep, they’re baaaack. But they don’t seem to be putting their hearts into it this time.

    • Locked-N-Loaded says:

Glad you deleted! Good for you! My high blood pressure started during the primaries in 2008. I tried to listen to some of the Dem convention tonight. I lasted about 15 seconds and I could feel my blood pressure rising, so I turned it off. I am just as angry today as I was on May 31, 2008. I still can’t believe what a bunch of a$$holes the bots are.

  71. OldCoastie says:

Angels are up 4-1 over Oakland…

So sorry to miss the DNC /s

  72. DM says:

First lady’s message: Obama is just like you – Michelle Obama’s message: President Barack Obama is just like you

    Not!

  73. angienc says:

In “what’s pissing me off on FB” news — idiot Obot friends are praising Bill Clinton’s economic policies while President are the exact same ones who were calling him a racist back in 2008.

    Assholes.

    • swanspirit says:

I listened to the lying wife of the liar . Problem is my memories are too vivid of her saying things like ” If you cant run your own house you cant the White House” and to Larry King ( I tried to find the video ) that she would have to THINK ABOUT voting for Hillary if she won the primary , and so many more memories of her nastiness .

      • DM says:

Most of the latest ABC poll is not being released, but ABC released the portion dealing with the candidate favorability ratings. Women have begun to see Romney more favorably, while Obama is losing on that point:

        Obama Dips, Romney Bounces Slightly

In a separate ABC/Post poll last week, he [Obama] led Romney among women registered voters in vote preference by just 6 points, 49-43 percent. In 2008, Obama won women by 13 points, 56-43 percent.

      • catarina says:

I remember that. Michelle said voting for Hillary would ‘depend on her tone!”
        What a nasty bitch.

  74. westcoaster says:

this ad came out today about the debt. I thought it was effective…

  75. westcoaster says:

did anyone watch the reaction of Michelle’s brother? I thought he started getting anxious when her nose started growing…

    • westcoaster says:

by the way, I recall Michelle saying in a magazine that she had a Barbie dream house as a child. The only kids I knew growing up that had that were upper middle class.
