U.S. Distrust in Media Hits New High
Americans’ distrust in the media hit a new high this year, with 60% saying they have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly. Distrust is up from the past few years, when Americans were already more negative about the media than they had been in years prior to 2004.
It’s really no surprise, they threw their credibility away years ago. As my grandma used to say, “Nobody listens when the wind blows.”
I thought this next graph was interesting. The “reality based community” trusts the media more than those conservative sheep do:

This is why Mittens hammering by the press is not making much of a dent. In 2008 part of the Obama campaign strategy was the free advertising, marketing, and advocacy by the media of which they did not have to pay for. Not only is the same strategy not working in 2012, the media is viewed with contempt. The number and efficacy of his attack dogs have fallen off which is not surprising since he won’t share any Democratic money with other office holders and only people paid by the campaign are appearing on TV and in press articles. His star marketing power is falling quickly, he is raising less and less money for himself, and he is running out of time. He needs more money this year than in 2008 to counter what has turned into a negative, press cheerleading, which he got for free last time. They did not imagine that the public would just tune out or laugh at the press. The ones that still consume media are already his supporters. He is screwed.
The “hammering” by the press is not making much of dent (arguable) because Mitt’s voters watch Fox News and listen to Rush. They don’t hear anything that might hurt Mitt’s chances without a dozen hyper-conservatives slanting the story and defending him six ways from Sunday.
They’re also not the brightest people in the world because they don’t understand that a huge number of them are in the 47% that Mitt considers to be parasites.
The shocker to me is that close to 60% of the Democrats swallow hook, line and sinker what the media throws their way. It’s then understandable why the Democrats or leaning Democrats have bought into the caricature of Romney that Obama, with the help of the media, created.
The Democrats think that the Republicans are stupid.
Ironic huh?
That also explains the higher ratings for the DNC convention and and Obama’s convention bounce
I still think that many people who are so stupid they believe the Corporate Media will be too stupid to find their polling place on election day. It’s not that simple to vote.
Perhaps the D’s trust the media more because they are being told what they want to hear.

That is why I force myself to read news stories and blog posts from both sides.
Yep. Why I still talk to my Obot friends and read their links. You don’t want to fall into their trap of being in a bubble, echo chamber. I have to say though, they’re in deep man.
Yup. Read as much as I can. The trouble I see is that many, many, MANY of the bots will not even entertain the idea of reading alternate POV’s. Those who do not read blogs, when presented with a fact, backed up by documentation- like the Gallup poll above, immediately revert to “That’s Fox News right wing propaganda.”
Like stubborn children. With fingers in ears.
Each side throws red meat for its group. Stuff that’s unbelievable to the other side, but a morsel to the group that’s been primed to salivate over the morsel.

This protest is not being shown much in the media.

Iran and Iraq (before 2002) have had the best educated women in the ME muslim world. It’s stupid to stop the women from getting certain degrees, and for the wrong reasons, imho.
I was thinkgin about our SoS an hour ago while on my way home from the market. I was feeling disappointed and then decided that I was being hasty. until I read this article.
Now I am disappointed and hope that something reasonable got in her way of being open with (at least) the Armed Services Panel and the Senators who need to be informed. Right now, I’m going to run more errands and hope this has all been a figment of my imagination and I’ll find out later that I wrote an imbicilic comment that had nothing to do with anything.
