King: ‘Susan Rice Should Resign’

House Homeland Security Committee chairman Pete King is calling on U.N. ambassador Susan Rice to resign over her comments on the Sunday talk shows September 16 regarding the Libyan attacks.

“I think Susan Rice should resign. She is America’s foreign policy spokesman to the world as ambassador to the U.N.,” King, a Republican congressman from New York, tells National Review Online.

Rice appeared on five Sunday morning shows five days after the attacks. On ABC’s This Week, she said, “Our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous – not a premeditated – response to what had transpired in Cairo,” despite the fact that U.S. officials knew terrorism was involved in the attacks within 24 hours after the attack.

“Very nice person, very smart,” King says of Rice, “but the fact is she gave out information which was either intentionally or unintentionally misleading and wrong and there should be consequences for that. And I don’t see how she didn’t know how that that information was wrong. What she could have and should have said was the final word isn’t in yet, certainly strong evidence that there was strong terrorist involvement, [but identifying] the exact nature it’ll take us a few more days. That would have been legitimate.”

King also called for an investigation into what was known before the attack. “This warrants a full investigation,” he says. “I believe there should be a congressional investigation. I think there should be an internal investigation.”

Benghazi, he adds, “was a hotbed of al-Qaeda activity, of militia activity, of terrorist activity. We knew that the facilities that we were using there were not adequately fortified. These were temporary, basically private residences which had almost none of the protections that a consulate should have.”

“To allow the American ambassador to go there,” he continues, “ to allow us to keep records or documentation there or anything in such an unsecure and such a dangerous area and such unsecure facilities with such little security appears to be gross negligence, and may be criminal negligence.”

He also criticized the administration’s reluctance to call the attacks terrorism. “Either they intentionally mislead the American people or they were extremely uninformed,” King remarks. “Neither excuse is very good. From the start, I can see them saying we’re not certain what caused it, but the presumption from the start should have been that it was a terrorist attack or the terrorist were heavily involved.”

Obama, he speculates, had political reasons to avoid calling it terrorism. “What I believe now is that the president is so fixated on convincing the American people that we have defeated al-Qaeda and that al-Qaeda is no longer a real threat by saying this was a terrorist attack, or by acknowledge a terrorist attack, it would be looked upon as a defeat for his policies against al-Qaeda,” King says.

Too bad we don’t have a free press. The bunch we have is so in the tank for Obama that they would put Pravda to shame.

During and after World War II the US news media believed they had a patriotic duty to support the government. That changed during Vietnam when the media realized they were being used to lie to the American people.

When Bill Clinton was in office the media were totally oppositional to the White House, making scandals out of molehills. During the Bush years they became lapdogs, not merely remaining silent but actively covering up for administration misdeeds. Their behavior has become even more egregious under Obama.

Ambassador Susan Rice LIED to the media and through them the whole country. As Pat Caddell pointed out, there is a reason Hillary Clinton wasn’t making the rounds of the Sunday talk shows.

But Rice is only to blame for helping with the cover-up. The blame for the fuck-up lies elsewhere.

This scandal needs a thorough investigation and let the chips fall where they may. But don’t hold your breath waiting.

    Think about this:

The same media that was in the tank for George Bush is in the tank for Barack Obama.

If that isn’t a red flag I don’t know what is.

Can anyone wonder why I love that man? 😉

FOX showed results from a poll asking which candidate MSM spends more time defending/attacking:
47% defending Obama & attacking Romney
16% defending Romney & attacking Obama
    21% BOTH

As to what the MSM is focusing on with the candidates:
    47% silly issues
    43% serious issues

    News coverage in general (non-election):
    64% silly issues
    27% serious issues

Susan Rice is the same person who completely missed the genocide in Rwanda during the Clinton years. She said she didn’t feel comfortable calling it “genocide,” but by the time she understood what was going on, it was over.

If we had a free press, they’d be rolling on the floor over Biden’s. His latest selling point is about how Obama is going to give us all free colonoscopies.

I appreciate Sununu stating the obvious. Obama is lazy and indolent. His own wife was frequently pissed off at him because he never seemed to work much and resented the hell out of having to be the primary breadwinner. He couldn’t get a book done without the publisher bending over backwards. He had no legislation in either Illinois or the US Senate. He didn’t write anything of note that wasn’t required to pass a course. He just glides through with the absolute minimum effort and moves on before it catches up with him. His daily schedules are shameful. His skipping the daily intelligence briefings are telling of his hubris and ignorance with the lifelong habit of skipping work. He has gotten away with it because of the politically incorrect connotation of calling him on it. Enough is enough. It is time to talk openly about his work ethic or lack thereof in addition to his incompetence and enormous overestimation of his own abilities.

It’s gotten quite bizarre. But don’t forget millions of people believe the lies and prejudices of the mainstream media becasue that’s what they want to believe!!! The truth is a whole different matter. Everyone’s reality is based on their own little desires to believe in what they think is right. It’s about honing those evolved “crap detectors”, I think that’s what it was called in the great book “Teaching as a Subversive Activitiy”…..learning to know when you are being given bullshit for information and news.
