This Grieving Mom Wants Answers

We heard from a different mother yesterday. This one just wants to know why her son had to die:

Mother of State official slain in Libya demands answers

The mother of a State Department official killed in Libya is publicly criticizing the Obama administration for not answering questions about her son’s death.

“Don’t give me any baloney that comes through with this political stuff,” Pat Smith told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Wednesday. Her son, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, was one of four Americans killed at the consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11. “Just tell me the truth, what happened, and I still don’t know.”

Smith added, “The things they are telling me are just outright lies.” U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, she said, told her the attack was a result of protests around an anti-Muslim video. “I don’t trust you anymore,” she said of the administration. “You — I’m not going to say lied to me, but you didn’t tell me and you knew.”

My heart goes out to Mrs. Smith. I would lose it if that was my kid. It’s one thing when they won’t talk because of legitimate national security issues. It’s another when they keep secrets just to cover their own asses.

Remember when the left was outraged at the cover-up over the death of Pat Tillman?

Holy fucking hell — maybe Stephanie Cutter should call this mother up & tell her what she just said on CNN about the attack in Libya:

“The entire reason this has become the political topic it is, is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.”

    http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/stephanie-cutter-says-libya-is-a-political-topic

*and you know I hate linking to Buzzfeed, so that tells you how pissed off I am.

      Here’s just the clip:

    • yttik says:

I know! I was really frustrated listening to the news last night. There was a five second sound byte about some unimportant congressional hearings going on and then they went right into how Mitt Romney has politicized everything and also how he disparaged a grieving mother by mentioning her son.

That’s what I get for watching the news. I know better.

    • Constance says:

Wow. Team Obama just keeps making themselves look worse. If you don’t like the reality of a situation you don’t have the option of making up an alternate reality and that is what Team Obama did with the Libya situation. They seem unable to prioritize what is important and they are certainly not capable of acting in the common good of the American People. They have also managed to make the Corporate Media look like fools. And the media are too stupid to either realize it or care.

      • trist says:

” They seem unable to prioritize what is important”

Well that comes down to who’s priorities you’re referring to.
I’m pretty sure the one’s priorities lay elsewhere these days.

        • blowme0bama says:

That is the ENTIRE problem with this fucking administration. They have priorities absolutely ass-backwards. Things that should be an afterthought and the subject of remedial consideration are shoved to the front and center while matters that genuinely affect our daily lives are given lip service.

          This is just another example.

        • Constance says:

“Well that comes down to who’s priorities you’re referring to.”

True, The Obama administration is putting their priorities first, but the team Obama goals and priorities are not in the best interest of Americans. Seriously how stupid/arrogant does a group of people have to be to think they can get away with this ridiculous lie about Libya? We can read foreign media on line. And the Obots may have had control of CNN, MSNBC and the networks news but they had to know they never controlled FOX and FOX has more viewers than all the other cable news channel combined. Re elect Obama must be running the executive branch of government! That is chilling.

    • myiq2xu says:

Andrea Saul, Romney Campaign National Press Secretary, made the following statement in response to the Obama campaign’s comments on the terrorist attack in Libya:

“President Obama’s campaign today said that Libya is only an issue because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. They’re wrong. The reason it is an issue is because, for the first time since 1979, an American ambassador was assassinated and President Obama’s foreign policy strategy of ‘leading from behind’ is failing. This administration has continually misled the American public about what happened in Benghazi and, rather than be truthful about the sequence of events, has instead skirted responsibility and dodged questions. The American people deserve straight answers about this tragic event and a president who can provide leadership, not excuses.”

    • Exactly. They want Romney to shut up and most definitely be afraid of using it in the last debate.

      BTW, more Buzzfeed fun:

Bush 2.0. Wheres the strident anti-war movement? Shutting up in the face of loony O’s drone attacks? Jeez, wish progs were old-fashioned liberals, but they ain’t. They are the leftist versions of the neo-cons. Lol, I think that the traditional liberals and conservatives should take their respective parties back. The GOP is way ahead in that dimension.

  3. tommy says:

When then Senator Obama supported FISA, I knew that we were screwed. Now a mom demands answers. The current administration better give her a legitimate and clear answer. I’ve learnt to never ever f**k around with moms and neither should this administration.

  4. cj says:

As a mother of 3 sons that video breaks my heart. I caught my breath when I saw those bloody handprints left on the wall, that’s how bad they are. I’d have to be sedated if I had worry about whether it was my own child who left them there.

And they’re lying to this poor woman? Cold-blooded reptiles work in this WH & I hate them all.

  5. carol haka says:

On drudge, mike kelly reporting 5 days after libya denied request from special forces for continuing dc3 (which are about 300 years old) coverage, vienna embassy is granted $108000 chevy volt docking station as they celebrated all their new chevy volts in the europian green initiative. 👿 so I don’t get banned or go to obama prison, I’m just going to say “Isn’t that special?” 👿

  6. carol haka says:

Was that biden’s daughter getting off the plane with him? You know, the one with the drug bust no one talked about because we were too busy talking about Palin’s slutty children. 👿

  7. wmcb says:

It’s not just Cutter now. The entire OFA team is now out in force, speaking and tweeting that everyone needs to STFU about Benghazi, because the GOP is politicizing it.

This was not a gaffe. This is a planned deflection. You are a bad bad person politicizing tragedy if you want answers about Libya.

  8. myiq2xu says:

    Seriously?

      • carol haka says:

Tweet him again and tell him to go find that Kahlid tape and release it like a real journalist would. 👿

      • darraghcmurphy says:

Perhaps Rainey’s tweet means he is expressing surprise that no one with any power in the White House is wiling to be stand up for Obama on Benghazi. IOW,obama’s support even inside his own administration is collapsing.

        • angienc says:

Then why the snarky #FairandBalanced hashtag?

Sorry, I think you are being too kind.

        • darraghcmurphy says:

Oh. You’re too kind by calling me kind. I think I may be just dumb and naive.

          :-/

        • Constance says:

I am sure things are falling apart in the WH. First of all the real politicos have to be pissed off the reelect Obama committee is running the executive branch. Everyone is probably madly trying to cover their own asses as well as find some woman to throw under the bus. Also Hillary is a tough old broad who can inflict some real political damage and any efforts to toss her are probably bringing all sorts of extra problems to the forefront. And at least some of the Corporate Media is waking up to how foolish they looked blindly accept the team Obama pack of lies. And of course they are never going to shut up FOX news.

        • catarina says:

Constance, they won’t shut up Fox News but yesterday Fox was not invited to participate in a call with the WH that the other MSM outlets were invited to.
          It’s a fucking cabal.

        • thanks myiq.

          I think.

Constance, Cat, and Kitty backwards, yep — a fucking cabal alright.

“some woman to throw under the bus” — yeah, like Hillary, Charlene, Susan, Debbie, or Stephanie?

          what a fucking coincidence. NOT.

    • yttik says:

One thing that makes it so bizarre is that Obama didn’t do anything. How can you defend Obama’s response when he didn’t really respond? He went on The View, talked about being eye candy, flew to Vegas, and gave a speech about how “the future doesn’t belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

The media, the Obots, want to defend Obama, but in order to do that he would have had to have done something decisive that you could defend.

    • angienc says:

You know, I’m thinking all this talk from Bill Clinton, Team Obama (and now Paglia) about what a “moderate” Romney is, isn’t really the right tack to make him unattractive to the undecideds/independents.

      But that’s just me.
(BTW — I do think based on his governorship of MA that he *is* a moderate, which is why I’ve got no problem voting for him).

Solyndra was a complicated scheme to obtains Dept of Energy loans for a failing company, defraud taxpayers by having the government repaid last in repaying the loan, and then file bankruptcy to avoid taxes on other types of income by investors through a shell corporation. George Kaiser has been doing this for at least 20 years and the IRS has been fighting him for at least that long.

“The government attorneys said that while the reorganization plan had “some marginal benefits,” there was no doubt that the most important priority was to “preserve a shell corporation to be able to reduce future tax liabilities by hundreds of millions of dollars.”
