Operation Manhood

White House reportedly preps strike team to take out terrorists tied to Libya attack

The White House has put special operations strike forces on standby and moved drones into the skies above Africa, ready to strike militant targets from Libya to Mali — if investigators can find the Al Qaeda-linked group responsible for the death of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans in Libya.

But officials say the administration, with weeks until the presidential election, is weighing whether the short-term payoff of exacting retribution on Al Qaeda is worth the risk that such strikes could elevate the group’s profile in the region, alienate governments the U.S. needs to fight it in the future and do little to slow the growing terror threat in North Africa.

Details on the administration’s position and on its search for a possible target were provided by three current and one former administration official, as well as an analyst who was approached by the White House for help. All four spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the high-level debates publicly.

The dilemma shows the tension of the White House’s need to demonstrate it is responding forcefully to Al Qaeda, balanced against its long-term plans to develop relationships and trust with local governments and build a permanent U.S. counterterrorist network in the region.

Vice President Joe Biden pledged in his debate last week with Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan to find those responsible for the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others.

Talk about your October surprises. But since when do we tell the enemy we’re coming?

Trying to get rid of al-Qaeda by going after individual terrorists is like trying to get rid of cockroaches by stepping on the ones you see – there is always a bunch more you don’t see. Or perhaps a better example is trying to retaliate for Pearl Harbor by tracking down the individual Japanese pilots that dropped the bombs.

I’m guessing our military is gonna blow up some Muslim people between now and election day. Then the Obama administration will declare we got the bad guys again. Then they’ll spike the football and do an endzone dance.

Again.

To Obama, the whole government is a campaign apparatus. It’s the Chicago way. Obama will leak anything if it furthers his reelection.

And it took how many weeks to come up with this stellar strategy?

Operation manhood, uhg, that’s the truth but it still makes me sick to my stomach.

I thought the terrorists who stormed our embassy were rounded up by the Libyans already? Wasn’t there a report about that or something?

I remember hearing about capturing them moments after Obama announced we will find them. Also thinking, probably just grabbed a few schmucks standing around to make Preezy look tough.

Never heard about them again ….

They just make stuff up. And the media like a bunch of idiot puppies print it. Then they wonder why no one pays for their media services!

After laughing with reporters, silence to questions on Libya.

Gallup tracking poll has Romney at 50 and Obama at 46
Wow. That’s why the Democrats are upset about Ryan doing the dishes.

Dems are upset because Ryan’s cleaning up the dishes pointed out once again just what lousy housekeepers the Dems are.
We have such real problems that to focus on a photo op is insulting.
I don’t know if I can stand much more of this election *drama*.

Wasn’t killing Amb Stevens a retaliation for killing one of their guys? So tell me, how’s killing more of their guys going “to help” ? AND, giving them an advance notice ?

I’m hoping there will be a question at the debate questioning something, anything, about Libya and President Bunnypants’ “great” policies in that region 😉

How can the POS send troops to take out Libyan terrorists when he still has NOT admitted the Benghazzi attack was a result of terrorism and not a spontaneous uprising in protest against an amateur movie?

    • leslie says:

Because shut up …. (or however it’s supposed to read)

    • yttik says:

Good point. How can he attack innocent protesters who just spontaneously got all wee weed up over a you tube video?

I think it’s the same way he can help poor people by reducing our incomes, giving us high unemployment rates, and fining us for not having health insurance.

      • Don’t forget how screwed we got from the Digital Bandwidth Law, where everyone now has seriously crappy TV reception. I have yet to watch a local TV show that does not have pixelation or drop outs occur during it.

I am sick and tired of being held hostage to the lowest commom denominator. The audience members tonight will be independents. I call bullshit on the name independents. If you are too stupid to already know who you should be voting for, then you should be rounded up and put into a re-education camp. 👿 People who can’t navigate birth control, getting an id to vote, blah blah blah getting to tell the rest of the responsible population who they will bow to makes me puke. 👿

    • yttik says:

LOL, I am now an independent and will be an independent for the rest of my life. Independent doesn’t mean undecided, it means neither of the two parties can predict how you’ll vote.

Next step for the Obama campaign: watch for them to start throwing virgins in volcanoes. After making that joke, I have to admit, it wouldn’t really shock me to see them try.

President Beta is having difficulty with the appropriate reaction to world events. It is too little or too much but mostly too late.
