OMG – who was running faster – the mom or the daughter? This is the best surprise I have ever seen !! I loved the reaction !!!

  4. DM says:

I think that when Petreaus gave Broadwell gave classified information, in a moment of passion about the CIA prison, Petraeus sealed his exit. Now Obama will have to answer the fact that he’s running prisons when he said he had stopped the practice.

  5. DM says:

This Veteran’s Day must be especially hurtful in the Petraeus family. I feel bad for him.

  6. Grrr. Computer has gone flooey this morning- I can comment but not like the post.

Scanning the newsfeeds this morning I’ve come to the conclusion that post-election results have their own grieving process.

    Voter fraud
Get rid of the Electoral College
    Recounts
Petitions for states to secede from the union (up to 20 now?)
Replace the Senate and House majority leaders (me likey this)
    Impeachment
    2014!
    2016!
Acceptance, nothing ever changes. (I’m here now)

Oh, and blaming conservatives/tea party for staying home is pointing to the Blue states that were told Mitt didn’t have a chance in . About 3 million in CA, IL and NY? Maybe it is time we get rid of the Electoral College ? But I’m sure someone’s explained to me why we can’t, it’s always annoyed me that a half dozen states choose our Presidents.

    • The Electoral is in the Constitution.
We can however, petition our State Legislatures to change the way electoral votes are awarded. One such movement died aborning here in PA last year. Some dumbasses felt the need to keep them all as one big 20 vote prize so candidates would campaign here and spend money. BWAHAHAHAHA! How’d that work out for them?
We desperately need proportional awarding of the Electoral votes. Otherwise, people who live out here in western PA really d not have a vote as we can never overcome the massive population advantage of Philly.
When we have an election as close as this, we, the bitter clingers, could only have influence if our votes actually meant something, Philly gets their votes- AND OURS TOO!
Awarding the electoral votes BY DISTRICT would go a long way towards a more fair representation. It is much harder for either side to cheat out here where the population is small and everyone knows everyone else.
Take a look at the map of PA election results and overlay the Congressional District map.
      http://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/PA
      http://www.politico.com/2012-election/map/#/President/2012/PA

As you can see, there are easily 5 or 6 districts that would NOT have gone to Obama.
Do the same with Ohio, VA. FL, etc and all of a sudden it is a lot more competitive.
So, that is my goal. To hound Harrisburg until we get some movement on this and I suggest others do the same. Electoral representation is our right as citizens!

      • Oh- the two links above are interactive- you can zoom out, select a state etc to see the districts and the results. The default on the Congressional map is the current one- it changes in 2012 but you can select that.

      • DeniseVB says:

Yes, the winner takes all is b.s.! Since Congressional districts are proportionate to population it would be more than fair to award each district won rather than total popular vote.

        Thanks PMM, I’m psyched now.

Bronco is going to have several problems before he is even re-inaugurated. The fiscal cliff, states baulking at the state exchanges and expanding Medicaid (thanks Judge Roberts) meaning the feds have to do it and did not appropriate any money to do so or have an agency ready so they will hire some private assholes to rip people off, a hot Middle East, exploding unemployment (and under employment), a leery stock market and voting groups who re-installed him that want his attention and payback. That is just off the top of my head and doesn’t include scandals, staff leaving or natural disasters. It is a hot mess but he wanted the job again so no excuses on his inability to multitask or do anything but campaign. He better get busy fast.

He isn’t going to do anything differently . He already proved that by golfing while NJ and NY froze .He is going to work on “shaping his legacy “, and it will be about as accurate as the other fiction he wrote about himself .

    • DeniseVB says:

If our country wasn’t circling the drain this would be fun to watch. I really don’t think he gives a flip about any of those pressing problems, he’ll be the same as he always was … I Won AGAIN ! Golf, vacations, payback executive orders for his special interest groups …. sigh.

Looks like this site could very well turn into the confluence of opinions on, advice about, and good links to – just about everything, from culture, politics, living, cooking to ingenious snark/ wordplay and exquisite humour … that The Confluence once was. 😎

And I for one don’t mind one bit. 🙂

  10. Mods- there is one on deck re electoral college- I have to go out this morning and did not schedule it to publish. Your call.

The wingnuts have become over-confident again. For them, its a mandate for a prog vision. Yeah, a 50-48 is a mandate. They seem to have forgotten the lessons of 2010. They’ll end up doing the same mistakes, and get walloped by the GOP in 2014, ceding control of the senate. Both sides never learn from their mistakes, do they?

    Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) questions Hillary Clinton’s emotional campaign… Obama Co-Chair …
Ah, here’s that anticipated identity-politics ratchet turning now. Hillary’s tears connecting with women? Then use them to alienate blacks, per the congressman’s none-too-subtle connection at the beginning here between the things Hillary didn’t cry for — namely, Katrina — and the huge number of black voters in South Carolina. I wonder if the Messiah himself will stoop to pointing out how self-centered and pitiless the white candidate is once he gets down there or whether, in his immaculate transcendence, he’ll leave that dirty business to chip-off-the-old-block race demagogues like this. Stay tuned.
