Brevity is the soul of wit

Three comedians are shooting the breeze at the back of a nightclub after a late gig. They’ve heard one another’s material so much, they’ve reached the point where they don’t need to say the jokes anymore to amuse each other – they just need to refer to each joke by a number. “Number 37!” cracks the first comic, and the others break up. “”Number 53!” says the second guy, and they howl. Finally, it’s the third comic’s turn. “44!” he quips. He gets nothing. Crickets. “What?” he asks, “Isn’t 44 funny?” “Sure, it’s hilarious,” they answer. “But you tell it wrong.”

I have written over 2000 posts here at TCH. I probably wrote twice that many over at the other place. The longer I do this the shorter the average length of my posts get. The main reason for that is because I often find myself harping on the same things. If I am boring myself I know I gotta be boring you. Plus it’s a huge waste of pixels.

So I was thinking maybe I should start numbering my posts. Then instead of repeating myself over and over I can just write “#7” or “#25” and you’ll know what I mean.

This is a #16

This is almost Ed Wood bad.

      • myiq2xu says:

Everyone in this film went to the William Shatner Acting School.

We watched this film on the TV. Thanks. It was alot more fun than some of the other crap available on TV. Since I cut the cable I look for anything like this and just stream it to the TV like I would Netflix. I find myself watching things I would have never seen otherwise and its my choice rather than being fed by Comcast. Youtube has amazing stuff when you can find it. Full length movies, no commercials (almost) and see one you like and there are similar links leading to some of the most creative stuff. Who needs cable?

  1. I need an index to those 2000 posts please.
and OT- but seriously? The fucking campaign is over- Big Dawg needs to go home and get the hell away from BenGhazi Barry. He is not a god damn human shield ffs!

Having grown up in a movie family that started in the biz in 1944 for Universal International as it was called then, I have seen and love all of the sci fi, monster and horror flics from the 50s. Two of my favorites to this day remain The Day the Earth Stood Still and Creature from the Black Lagoon….something about their simple messages…

Only if you have an index on one side with brief reminders of each.

The Rams just got a fumble recovery for a TD and a 2 pt conversion to tie the Niners 10-10. There is 3 minutes left in the game. The last time they played the game ended in a tie.

always loved Them, too…with James Arness…think it may have been his first film…

Funny thing is, the only connection he has to Rosa Parks/the AA experience is that his ancestors in Africa sold slaves to the West.

      • myiq2xu says:

I thought his parents met at the Birmingham bus strike?

        • angienc says:

Except that took place 4 years after he was born (AL bus strikes were in 1965; Obama was born in 1961).

Just another in the long list of lies that Obama gets away with — Krauthammer says he is the “luckiest politician” he’s ever seen — but it isn’t “luck” it is hard-core corruption.

        • angienc says:

PS — remember the HUGE DEAL that was made in 2008 about her lying about her trip to Bosnia (i.e., landing with bullets flying)? Obama doesn’t have to worry about that kind of crap — he literally can say anything — no matter how absurd — and he is NEVER questioned.

Heck, Chris Matthews said this year that it was unconstitutional for Romney to run against him.

        • angienc says:

          *her = Hillary.

In my head I knew who I was talking about, but forgot to write her name. 🙂

        • insanelysane says:

I remember reading about the account ( The First lady flying in while snipers were still terrorizing the area) as it happened in 1996 as Hillary flew into that war torn sad bleak place and I remember thinking how afraid I would be if I had to do that…. and that she was some kind of driven person. I remember thinking this was pretty “out there” for the President’s wife.
Flash forward 12 years and it became a cartoon. A sickening cartoon…just like the Dems mocked Romney’s drive to actually put women into seats of power. (Binders)

I hate how stupid and insipid the electorate has become.
          It’s too sad for words.

The Klown talking nos.? K k, we know what you’re hinting at. The Klown for Secretary of Treasury. We’d love to be flies on the wall when you report to BHO. Hehehe.

“If I am boring myself I know I gotta be boring you.”

    I am not bored!

The news is boring. It’s like formula writing. They search the entire country to bring you your gratuitous story of violence, ” zombies want to feast off your flesh! Be afraid, be very afraid!” Out of 300 million people, one guy went off the deep end today and shot somebody. Obviously this means we’re all we’re all going to hell in a hand basket and our entire culture has collapsed. Then they progress into the predictable, Obama-praise and whatever assorted story about the evils of America that they can find. Usually this time of the year it’s a story about how we’re all starving and lined up at the food bank which is always out of food. On rare occasions they manage to bring us a heart warming story showing some American’s generosity, but for the most part it’s just a constant stream of crime, violence, poverty, misery. I’m surprised that people who watch a ton of news don’t try to swim towards Cuba or Canada.

a poem from 1949 that sounds like it was written today

  14. HELENK says:

you may be many things, but boring is not one of them.

you invite a gathering of all kinds of people from all walks of life and ages to talk to each other. That is a rare thing today. You do it with humor, sarcasm, intelligence and make it fun and a great learning experience.

now keep up the good work

Myiq ~ I Second HELENK. you are anything BUT boring. I don’t know where I’d be now if not for TCH and myiq2xu and the commentters and writers that you have drawn into the fishing hole.

i just returned from a day with the oldest girl in the family and the youngest! Both morning and afternoon were wonderful. And now to watch horror movie bits. 😉

      • Glennmcgahee says:

Totally agree. This site brings so many together with so many links that its my “GO-TO” spot first thing in the morning. I appreciate every minute on this blog. Thank you MIQ2XU from the bottom of my heart.

  16. leslie says:

I just checked my email and heard from my long distance brother:

Wife is at home and texts her husband on a cold winter morning:
    “Windows frozen.”

    Husband texts back:
“Pour some lukewarm water on it slowly.”

Wife texts back 5 minutes later:
    “Computer completely screwed up now.”

  17. Glennmcgahee says:

Have any of you experienced the pleasure of having Google upgrade to Google+. It really screwed up my computer. They are attempting to tie my email to a “Facebook” like experience grabbing every contact I’ve ever emailed and freezing my computer. I had to go on another computer to research the problem only to be told by google that they are aware of the problem and attempting to fix these issues. They will “try” to restore my email account (gmail), etc. in the next few days…..
