Labs Today!

I gotta get labs today, which means I can’t eat or drink nothing until after I get my tire pressure and vital fluids checked. I am not a happy camper.

What are you doing this morning?

good grief…an African-American anthem?….Is there a gay anthem and a feminist anthem?…and a masculinist anthem?….and a pagan anthem?…and an alahu ahkbar anthem???? What is happening to this country???? On the slim surface, at the malls and on the main streets, it appears to be normal…but underneath everything is ripping apart at the seams….it really is like The Invasion of the Body Snatchers….or as my kids called it when they were growing up…the Body Snappers…you really don’t know what to believe or who to trust anymore….sad during the winter holidays and celebrations.

ask Ed if he wants to donate his wealth to the common cause and you’ll hear shrieking and ranting and raving about how unfair that is. It’s always let the other rich person pony up.

      • lyn5 says:

I remember when Ed was trying to get tax breaks for actors. He argued that their income should be considered like a windfall and should be taxed less.

        • swanspirit says:

I remember that , and Ed is just another fucking hypocrite
          from 2001 ……..
Santa Monica’s law breaks new ground. Elsewhere, living wage laws have only affected businesses with a financial link to the government — contracts, tax breaks or leases of public land. The Santa Monica policy applies to any business with more than $5 million in annual revenue within a 1.5-square-mile coastal tourism zone and the downtown core. The rationale is that employers of large numbers of minimum-wage workers have benefited from city investment of $183 million in improvements in the district, Mayor Michael Feinstein says.

But opponents of the law say it discriminates by raising an affected company’s labor costs over its nearby competitors. “This is a business killer,” says Jeff King, chairman of the company that owns the Ocean Avenue Seafood restaurant.

At least two restaurants that gross more than $5 million are considering closing for lunch and subsequently laying off people to get under the law’s threshold. Sears has hinted that it might relocate.

After losing a 3-year City Hall battle, employers are trying to get voters to overturn the ordinance. Racing a deadline of Thursday, business interests are seeking the 6,000 signatures needed to put a repeal initiative on the 2002 ballot. Petition circulators, financed by $250,000 in business contributions, are blanketing supermarket parking lots and farmers’ organic-food street markets.

Clergy-led street rallies and a recorded telephone message from actors Martin Sheen and Ed Asner urge voters not to sign the petitions. Businesses say they will go to court to invalidate the law if the petition drive or a public vote fails.

GEE ED , you don’t want those poor folks to make a living wage if it cuts into your profits?

I am getting ready to roll out of bed and walk down the hall to my office and work. I’ve been slammed at work. Plus we have to move to Dallas, TX so we’ve been purging the house – repainting the inside.

Oh – and trying to catch up reading the comments. I’m falling behind.

    • catarina says:

      Cliff notes for Simo:

      Obama sucks.
      The media sucks.
      The Democrats suck.
The rich need to “pay their fair share.”
The Obamas are going on vacay in Hawaii in three weeks, screw America.

      Ok, carry on with packing.
      You’re welcome 🙂

I’m in a pissy mood which is funny as I haven’t watched any news since the election. Rearranging house for carpet and duct cleaners then will think about putting up whatever the heck this holiday is supposed to be called.

Good luck with your medical tests – such a fun way to spend a day.

  7. piper says:

Hillary is concerned about new push to re-sovetize countries. Last paragraph she talks about other countries ‘voting.’ Bwahahaha – no one seems to be afraid anymore of the big bad US–politics.html

I got my tree yesterday , and got it into the tree stand and astonishingly , it is actually straight ! but ….
my “genius” idea to prevent the squirrels from getting to the birdseed failed utterly

I was scanning the Grammy nominations and noticed Michelle Obama’s garden book has been nom’d for Best audio book award. A garden book ?

(scroll way down to the 50’s, I think it was around there). All liberal nominees including Bill Clinton, Rachel Maddow, Ellen Degeneres. In fact the whole list sounds like the who’s who of the Obama campaigns.

  11. DeniseVB says:

    One more:

    Michelle Obama for Senator ?

Though I doubt it would be from Illinois, I don’t think she likes it there. Well, judging by how many times she visits her home.

    • elliesmom says:

Nah, they’re going to Hawaii, and as soon as the girls have gone off to college, the Obamas will lead very separate lives, even if they share the same permanent address. Michelle has no political aspirations of her own, but the left keeps trying to mold her into another Hillary Clinton. It ain’t happenin’. She’ll join what used to be called “the jet set”. Premiers, galas, and fashion shopping trips.

    • HELENK says:

      now the senate

do you really think she would give up the house in Hawaii for Chicago?
she pretty well has milked Chicago .

most expensive hospital job ever which was done away with after she left.
      best ever real estate deal

    • piper says:

the media needs something to talk about and another inarticulate phony black person to push up the ladder. They should try to promote people with character like Mia Love and Alan West.

I just had a great idea on how to raise federal revenues.
Tax political contributions. Call it the bribery tax.
The eviiil rich will be really hit by that.
