Powerline:

Don’t Criticize the Taliban!

The Wall Street Journal obtained a copy of a new Army handbook for soldiers destined for Afghanistan. The draft handbook has not yet been put into use, but is described as a “final coordinating draft” that was sent out for review in November. The manual instructs soldiers on how to get along with their counterparts in the Afghan Army. It reflects the view, held by some officers but generally deemed highly controversial, that increasing numbers of attacks on American troops by supposedly friendly Afghan soldiers are the result of cultural conflicts, rather than Taliban infiltration.

Some of the manual’s recommendations are ludicrous:

The draft handbook offers a list of “taboo conversation topics” that soldiers should avoid, including “making derogatory comments about the Taliban,” “advocating women’s rights,” “any criticism of pedophilia,” “directing any criticism towards Afghans,” “mentioning homosexuality and homosexual conduct” or “anything related to Islam.”

This list of “taboo” topics paints an unintentionally revealing picture of Afghanistan and our supposed allies there: the Taliban, pedophilia, homosexuality, women’s rights, or “anything related to Islam.” All in the name of cultural sensitivity! The manual also warns against negative stereotypes of the Afghans:

A summary includes views of some U.S. soldiers that Afghan forces engage in thievery, are “gutless in combat,” are “basically stupid,” “profoundly dishonest,” and engage in “treasonous collusion and alliances with enemy forces.”

Speaking for myself, I’ve heard about enough.

They forgot “Never touch another man’s goat”. That shit could get you killed.

Patrick Moran pleads guilty to simple assault, Washington City Paper reports

The son of Virginia Rep. Jim Moran pleaded guilty Wednesday to simple assault after he allegedly slammed his girlfriend’s head into a trash can outside a D.C. bar, according to Washington City Paper.

Patrick Moran pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault and was placed on probation. He was arrested on Dec. 1 on a charge of felony domestic violence assault. City Paper reports Patrick Moran and his girlfriend were arguing outside The Getaway on 14th Street in Columbia Heights when he assaulted her.

Patrick Moran was the victim of an undercover sting by conservative activist James O’Keefe. He was caught on videotape discussing how to commit voter fraud. Patrick Moran was working on his father’s re-election campaign but stepped down after the incident became public.

Jim Moran’s office released the following statement about the incident: “The Congressman strongly condemns domestic violence. As was stated in court by both his son Patrick and his girlfriend Kelly, the situation was an accident. They were the only two people involved in the scene. In that sense, their statements are the only ones that matter. They are both very embarrassed by the situation, which involved drinking, and they are looking to move past it, and ask for their privacy to be respected.”

The cops saw him slamming her head into a trash bin.

  5. And it’s only fair, too, because those of us on the (D) side see things so much more clearly. Also, our body odor doesn’t stinketh!

  6. The University of California at Berkeley has a new logo. I think it’s somewhat apocalyptic. Notice how the color of the letter fades out near the bottom? This is the same way the university itself is approaching its final days and fading away into nothingness. Some things eventually become shadows of their former selves. Cal is merely skipping the “shadow” stage. And I can say without fear of criticism this because of my (D).

Whats with the (D), y’all? What an idea. Lol

Don’t criticize the Taliban? They’re fighting the Taliban, for effs sake. They’re supposed to talk sweet nothings bout the enemy? On the other hand, the only safe topic would be heterosexual sex, and locker-room jokes bout it.

    random thought

unions complaining that right to work would allow non union people to profit from the gains of unions.

    Isn’t that redistribution???

Whew…..Holder states that the US should consider automatic voter registration. The Dems want to fix the ‘antiquated’ registration system so Mickey Mouse doesn’t have to repeatedly fill out that card in every state.

Ya know, because it’s the Dems that really care about counting every vote accurately. /s

What’s really fascinating is the way you can put a (D) after stuff like denial of due process (D) and extrajudicial executions (D) and magically make them constitutional.

In good news: CNN quietly dumped that sexist pig Jack Cafferty — I will never forgive or forget his lunatic ravings about Hillary in 2008. Fucking asshole — I hope he dies old & alone without a single soul giving a shit.
