OT — I’ve been avoiding the internet (and news) but I saw a clip of Obama “crying” — has anyone asked why it seems his tear ducts are on the outside corner of his eyes instead of the inside corners (next to the nose) like they are for everyone else?
He has now inserted himself into this tragedy. It is almost as if there cannot be any great event that is news , that he can stay away from. He is going there tomorrow. .He is absolutely going to use this to attempt some kind of gun control legislation .
At least this time he didn’t leave for Vegas right after the presser.
But as usual he didn’t answer questions at a “press conference”.
What I find so upsetting , is that now we have to hear news about Duh One in the midst of such real sorrow, as if he is some kind of Presidential Balm Of Gilead .This is so monarchical and pompous of him .

Wow, one of my FB friends just said if you own a gun or defend gun ownership in any way, you are complicit in murder. Of course this is a person who also said if you’re against Obama it’s only because you’re a racist. Nope, not crazy emotional at all…
Seriously. And if you own a car, you are complicit in the murder of the 10,000 people/yr who get killed by drunk drivers. I only wish people would grow a sense of proportion. Also a car would have been as good of weapon as a gun for this kid. If he had no gun, what would stop him from driving a car over a line of kids while they’re crossing the street in front of the school or waiting for the bus.

Great article! This is not about gun control; it’s about mental illness.
That is very powerful, and much closer to the source of the solution. I worked in a residential treatment facility with abused and neglected kids age 5-15 who had been removed from their homes because no other intervention had worked. We had to restrain them at times because they would punch, kick, bite, pull hair, threaten and/or run if triggered, and we taught them the most basic skills, such as brushing your teeth. They had a range of psychological problems, and no idea how to manage their emotions. If they received consistent care in a structured environment, most of them made progress–and then they were returned to the same environment that created the problems, or if they were lucky, were placed in foster care. Studies have shown that if they do not receive intervention, they dissociate for life and become sociopaths. It’s a complex, sad and troubling issue.
