A Not-So Happy Christmas

(Courtesy of Legal Insurrection)

Just a reminder that the holidays aren’t always the best time of year for some people. We have servicemen far from home, college students living in dorms, elderly widows and widowers and lots of other people who will be spending Christmas by themselves.

Reach out and touch someone. Send a serviceman a care package. Invite a neighbor or co-worker over for Christmas dinner. Bring the lonely some holiday cheer.

This is an open thread.

  2. Please do as teh Klown says. Whenever my troops are deployed over the holidays I send extra little gifts in their packages (and extra cookies of course) There is ALWAYS a soldier who for one reason or another does not get a package- so mine always have a few to share out. No soldier should ever have a Christmas (or Hanukkah or whatever holiday they celebrate) without something from home. (I started doing this many many years ago- my sis went one Christmas overseas thinking we had all forgotten her. We had not-Dad had mailed it all in one big package- but the post office had screwed up royally. She ended up not getting her gifts until her NEXT posting)
I have to admit I was feeling pretty down- my boys being so far away, as are all my siblings. Shame on me. At least I can pick up the phone and talk to them. Shame on me.

Obama is on TV AGAIN?! talking about the shooting. WTF? Does EVERYTHING have to be about him? He’s unreal. He gives me the creeps.

  4. AYFKM? They cut into the Pats game for that narcissistic pig? KILL ME NOW!

I am far to grief-filled to waste any energy on being angry with Obama. So far, he’s doing a good job.

Funny song…thanks. Most people seem to have given up on “Christmas” cards and it has become a bit of a hassle but I’ve been diligently sending little email notes to friends that I haven’t spoken with or written to in a while….just to say and have a nice holiday…doesn’t take much of an effort. Facebook is good for that, too. I really appreciate a note from someone I haven’t heard from recently. Nice thought, thanks.

On a musical note, it’s funny you should play that song by The Youngsters as I grew up in Cincinnati with a popular doo wop group called The Students and there were a bunch of these young groups The Schoolboys, The Sophomores, The Youngtones etc….when I moved to Pittsburgh in ’58 a popular tune on doo wop radio then was Dreamy Eyes by The Youngsters from Los Angeles, the flip side of which was Christmas in Jail…see how touching little things can be….

I see Loesch is retweeting all her haters’ comments. That’s what Breitbart used to do which seemed to really tick off his oppo.

So Obama’s going to do everything in his power to protect the children ? Ban guns by executive order?

  9. Jumpin Jehosaphat- looks like pretender of the US cursed my Pats!

      It’s the “Obama Touch”

The Giants won the World Series in 2010. During the summer of 2011 they went to the White House to meet Obama. Afterwards they went into a nosedive and never recovered.

Since they won again this year they get to visit Obama again next year. I’m not looking forward to it.

Btw, we drove by a gun show today – the parking lot was packed and there was line to get in.
I guess they want to get their guns while they can.

I didn’t watch Obama’s speech and I don’t plan to watch it. If I never hear Obama’s voice again as long as I live it will be too soon.

Someone on another blog posted that Bronco has the present-i-dent seal on the podium at the church and he was chewing gum until someone must have told him to check it.
Also read on Weasel that Carney told everyone that Bronco wrote his own speech with the help of a speech writer.
Sorry but this service should be about the children and adults who were killed and their grieving families NOT about a hypocrite who is constantly seeking adulation.

    • Constance says:

Can you imagine losing a child and then having to sit through a public “service” listening to Bronco while being filmed? I seriously couldn’t do it.

It’s amazing how the left side of the isle wants to talk about anything but mental illness. Didn’t that used to be one of those things they cared about? Nope, don’t look at the man behind the curtain, don’t look at the real issues… guns, guns, guns.
