Obama nominates John Kerry for Secretary of State

No, seriously!

President Obama nominated Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts as secretary of state, choosing an elder of the Democratic Party’s foreign policy establishment and a crucial political ally in the Senate to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“In a sense, John’s entire life has prepared him for this role,” Mr. Obama said, making the widely expected announcement at the White House. “He’s not going to need a lot of on-the-job training.”

With Mr. Kerry standing at his side, the president praised Mr. Kerry’s combat service in the Vietnam War and his three decades in the Senate, which Mr. Obama said had placed him at the heart of “every major foreign policy debate for the past 30 years.”

Blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda.

But wait! There’s more!

Mr. Obama’s first choice for the job, Susan E. Rice, the ambassador to the United Nations, asked Mr. Obama to withdraw her name last week after Mr. McCain and other Republicans threatened to block her nomination because of statements she made after the lethal attack on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya.

That’s funny, I don’t remember Obama saying that his first choice was Lied Rice. Actually, Hillary Clinton was his first choice. That would make Rice #2. I wonder how Kerry feels about being third banana to two women?

Wingnuttia will be upset, but I expect an easy confirmation from the old boys club.

The weirdest part is the announcement was made during the Friday news dump.

Lurch??! What’s our plan, to scare our enemies into compliance?

Just thinking about the end of the world. It’s kind of interesting, my world has ended a few dozen times, most recently on May 31, 2008. I think another world of mine ended last month with the 2012 election, but I haven’t finished processing it all. Life is kind of like that, people’s worlds end and they are completely transformed by the experience. I guess I should have figured that out by now, since obviously none of us are our two year old selves or teenagers, or any of the other people we used to be. Our worlds completely change and we are all transformed into something new.

I would never have believed anybody if they had told me that some day I would leave the Dem party, favor Republicans, and believe that the NRA gave a downright stirring speech this morning, full of common sense solutions, but dang, the nutcases screaming obscenities during the speech scared me a lot more than the NRA.

I’m thinking I might fit right in at the NRA I hear they have a very active and vital women’s group.

Drudge has some of his past history.
throwing the medals, accusing the soldiers with no proof, visits to assad, investments in companies that do business with Iran.
yeah he is backtrack’s kind of guy.

i am still angry with myself, I voted for him when he ran for president.

I’m angry with myself for dismissing his disturbing past history as nothing more than right wing smears. Of course that was when I still thought the D’s occupied the higher moral ground in politics….lolz.

Poor Lurch. He does not deserve to be lumped with such pond scum.

Do his qualifications include getting the ketchup heiress drunk and marrying her before she sobered up so he never has to worry money ever again?

I do know his ability to avoid taxes does get him bonus points.

Rice the Lesser was never nominated. Perhaps Bronco, the MSM and the rest of the gang need to be reminded of this little fact. Oh – that’s right they do not bother with facts.

Kerry’s OK. It could have been far, far worse.

Elizabeth Warren just became the senior senator from MA before she’s even been sworn in. Tell me again that she’s not the next Barack Obama.
