Planned Parenthood’s New Annual Report: We Did 333,964 Abortions; 1 Every 94 Seconds

Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s latest annual report for 2011-2012 says that its affiliated clinics performed 333,964 abortions in fiscal 2011.

That works out to an average of one abortion every 94 seconds.

The 333,964 abortion Planned Parenthood did in fiscal 2011 is an increase of 4,519 from the 329,445 abortions it did in 2010, according to a fact sheet that Planned Parenthood published last year.

Of course when you divide that number by the number of women of childbearing age you get a percentage that’s not so impressive. There are slightly over 4 million children born in the U.S. each year, so that’s about 8% of all pregnancies. I don’t know what percentage of abortions in the U.S. are performed by Planned Parenthood, but if I recall correctly they are by far the largest provider.

The article doesn’t tell us how many of those abortions were related to rape, incest or protecting the health of the mother. We also don’t know how many of them involved some kind of diagnosed birth defect.

I am pro-choice, but I believe that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. Ignorance is no longer an excuse. Neither is poverty – effective birth control is cheap and widely available. I guarantee you that if a guy has to choose between paying for contraception or not having sex, he’ll come up with the money.

Of course all those aborted children have Fathers too. Abortion shouldn’t be the “women’s issue” it should be a human issue.

When girls hit puberty they should be given mandatory birth control shots. When boys hit puberty they should be locked up.

Puberty age kids are really a problem, they don’t think clearly. I remember one 14 year old girl whose 14 year old boyfriend was caught crawling OUT of her bedroom window at 3 am telling me that he was not her boyfriend he was her best friend and they were not having sex because she wasn’t a slut, they were hugging each other and they found they liked hugging better with less clothes. That left me speechless for awhile but the next day I told her she was going on some “hormone correction pills” to clear up her skin.

I have a former student who has fathered children with four girls. The girls are bright and beautiful and had so much potential. He is and always has been a real deadbeat. I can’t for the life of me see what they saw in him, and I know for a fact they knew about birth control and where to get it because I told them. Now they’re struggling to raise their babies. He’s a part-time bagger at the local grocery store so even if they’re getting child support, it isn’t much. The girls’ parents stepped up to the plate so at least they got to finish high school, but all four of them were good candidates for college. The girls all knew each other well, and the babies are all about the same age so they must have known he was having sex with all of them at about the same time. I even see them pushing the baby strollers together. When I rant about it to Elliesdad, he says I should rethink my definition of “bright”, but these were girls who got good grades in school and appeared to have common sense about everything but this jerk. I think I could get on board with mandatory “hormone correction pills” for teenage girls. I know I’d chip in for a vasectomy for this guy.

During the ’08 primaries, candidate Obama said the father of the child should have to give consent for the possible abortion. He didn’t qualify that there should be any exceptions either.

      • Constance says:

Well I do believe that the state should genetically determine the Father of all children born to single Mothers and remove child support payments from these mens paychecks. In this modern world men should not be able to just wander away from their unwanted kids and dump them on their Mother or the taxpayers.

he also said he did not want his daughters PUNISHED with a child

as the jobs disappear and those who have one pay more in taxes,so there is less take home pay. you will see abortions sky rocket. It will not only be the teenager who got “in trouble” but the married couples who make the choice that they can not afford another baby. due to birth control failure ” miss washout, miss blowout and these three are the rhythm boys pregnancy can occur.

        • DandyTiger says:

Hope he likes is physical address being tweeted or published in some way, because you know it’s going to happen.

        • Karma says:

Thankfully, he can console himself with the thought that he didn’t publish those gun owners addresses.

So clearly, that hypocrite’s private, public info, should be respected. Because everyone knows that giving out names is harmless and providing the links to their addresses doesn’t count. /s

But if it’s addresses you want, look no further: New York pistol owners must register not only with their local police departments, but with the state as well. And the names of 1.2 million New Yorkers licensed to own handguns, and the addresses of 300,000 of them, have been freely available online for more than two years. Two databases listing all of the handgun owners were initially posted online anonymously at a web site called Who’s Packing NY in August of 2010. That web site is no longer working, but a mirror—complete with the two full databases available for download—is still working here.

It always surprises me that many folks don’t know that in some States Medicare is paying for tens of thousands of abortions, the same agency that provides a wide variety of free birth control.
Was it Socrates who said ‘you can’t fix stupid’ ??
No ? Well, whoever said it was smart too.

    • myiq2xu (D) says:

Medicare is paying for abortions and birth control???

      • Mt.Laurel says:

Late to the party but yes, Medicare often pays for abortions and for prenatal care, deliveries and well baby care. One avenue : those receiving Social Security disability benefits also qualify for Medicare coverage. There are also several more convoluted paths which vary by state. DC is where the numbers are large enough to really jump out on paper in terms of percentages. DC’s stats are reported and included in state comparisons because it is really just a single city.
