‘Boomtown’ Special Angers, Resonates with Americans

Fox News will re-air “Boomtown” on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST and 9 p.m. PST. “Boomtown” is a one-hour investigative special that assails Washington, D.C.’s permanent political class for “extracting” taxpayer dollars from Americans and growing the size of government to enrich themselves and their cronies without creating anything of use.

Fox News’ “Hannity” first aired the blockbuster special on Friday, and the show immediately resonated with viewers across the country. This is in part why Fox News is re-airing the one-hour special.

On the show, Peter Schweizer, the president of the nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI), Steve Bannon, Breitbart News’ Executive Chairman, and Fox News host Sean Hannity detailed how Washington, D.C. has become the nation’s wealthiest and most lavish region. Their investigation concluded and revealed those in Washington’s permanent political class and aristocracy only have incentives to grow the size and scope of government to further enrich themselves and their cronies.

Viewers expressed their outrage at the permanent political class on Twitter as they were watching the show. After the show, viewers sent heartfelt emails to GAI and Breitbart News. Many asked if the show would re-air and if they could purchase DVDs of “Boomtown.”

You don’t have to wait until tonight. Here it is.

My son sent me this link:

How Newegg crushed the “shopping cart” patent and saved online retail
It’s game over for a patent troll that sued nearly 50 big retailers.

“A tiny side note. In case any of your programmers are curious what litigators today consider E-Commerce “ordinary skill,” the lawyers tried to accommodate: “The parties agreed that the level of ordinary skill in the field of this invention is a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering or computer science, or equivalent education, with two to three years of practical experience developing or operating software and systems that relate to commerce on the Internet.” They should be reminded that “ordinary skill” rarely translates into respect. That requires bolder action, such as having the chutzpa to force companies at lawsuit-point to buy a license and then to tout it as proof of product quality.”
      LOL.

Excellent. There are a pile more patent trolls screwing everything up for the rest of us. Software patents need eliminated or severely reformed. Love newegg by the way.

I didn’t watch — I went out & saw Les Mis — I’ve read the actual book and had never seen the musical version. It was like an opera (dialogue entirely in song) except with crappy music and so-so singing. But the story is a very good story, so there isn’t much you can do to mess it up, plus the production value was high & the acting was really good (Anne Hathaway is going to deserve that Oscar she’ll probably get) so overall the so-so singing didn’t matter *that* much. Still, I don’t understand why — once they made the decision to go with screen actors instead of stage singers — they didn’t do studio recordings of the signing to “fix” it up (and trust me, there were *a lot* of places the singing needed some fixing up). There was one girl — the actress who plays Eponine — whom I had never seen before & her singing was so dramatically better than everyone else’s that I immediately thought “She must be stage-trained” — sure enough, she played the role in the London stage production. The worst singing was Russell Crowe — he sounded like a dying moose.
I give it 7 out of 10 (starts at 5 just because of Hugo’s story; 3 points deducted for not doing the *obviously needed* and *easily done* with their budget studio recording).

We’ve started watching the Continuum series on Syfy. Just seen 2 eps so far. A bunch (7) death-row rebels (terrorist-style anti-Corporation types) & 1 cop from 2077 jump back int time to Vancouver 2012.
    Looks promising.

    (It’s on Monday nights.)

I watched The Following last Monday (FOX) starring Kevin Bacon (I love him because I love his wife Kyra Sedgwick) and James Purefoy (I love him because he’s sexy as hell) and let me tell you — I can hardly wait until tomorrow night to see the next episode. Purefoy is a college English Lit professor serial killer — killing beautiful women based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe! (Bacon is the flawed former FBI agent who caught him 14 years ago). Purefoy has a cult following who is helping him restart his killing from prison.
Very unusual/interesting stuff although pretty violent. I hope it is able to maintain the quality as the story unfolds.
